I Became The Vampire Progenitor
Chapter 204-3: This Game Is So Fun, You Can Even Beat Up NPCs (Part 3)

“Damn, this game is too real. Just look at this fat bastard, his terror feels like it’s coming from deep within. Gives me the creeps,” Cheng Kun muttered, clearly the most timid of the three.

Just then, a sharp gleam flashed in HunYuan’s eyes. He looked at the fat merchant coldly and said, “You’re lying.”

The fat merchant shook his head violently. “No! I’m not lying! The legend of Mind Eater Wales is known throughout the entire Underworld of Green City. You can ask anyone in the Western District and they’ll tell you the same thing!”

HunYuan shook his head. “No, I’m not talking about the Mind Eater. I’m talking about Dark Pact.”

“Dark Pact?” The fat merchant looked puzzled. “I swear to the Goddess of Wealth, I didn’t lie to you.”

Thunderhands and Cheng Kun also turned to HunYuan in confusion. “Second Brother, what’s off?”

HunYuan scoffed. “According to this bastard’s story, Dark Pact offended the most powerful figure in this city. Logically, they should’ve been wiped out.

But now, their former leader has vanished and yet the organization still exists. That doesn’t add up.

In the Underworld, once a gang loses its powerful backer, it usually gets swallowed up quickly by other forces.

And yet this one hasn’t. Don’t you think that’s strange?”

Thunderhands and Cheng Kun looked at him with reverence. “Second Brother, are you the legendary domestic Agent 007? So sharp! That’s genius!”

The fat merchant didn’t understand their gibberish, but HunYuan’s cold smirk made his bruises ache even more.

“No, I’m not lying! Dark Pact really did lose their previous leader but recently, a new leader appeared. Because of this, even the Mind Eater Wales acknowledged Dark Pact’s legitimacy.

So although they’ve gotten a lot weaker, they’re still one of the Big Three,” the fat merchant explained quickly.

A glint of interest flashed in HunYuan’s eyes. “So, the key lies with this new president.”

“Exactly. The new leader of Dark Pact, Lord Iro, is a legendary Vampire, with immeasurable power.” At this point, the fat merchant’s eyes shone with awe.

“The shocking part is, this Vampire isn’t just Dark Pact’s leader, he’s also been invited by Mind Eater Wales to become Vice President of Demon Heart.”

“It’s unbelievable. Dark Pact used to be an enemy of Demon Heart, and now Demon Heart has made its leader their second-in-command.”

Hearing that, HunYuan instantly understood. This new leader was even stronger than before.

“Second Brother, got it figured out? Which one are we joining?” Thunderhands and Cheng Kun didn’t care much for the details, they just wanted a decision.

To them, joining an underground faction was just a way to play the game more wildly and have some extra fun. Good or evil didn’t matter right now.

It’s a game, what matters is having fun.

“Of course we’re joining Dark Pact,” HunYuan said firmly. “Think about it: the leader of Demon Heart is already insanely strong, and now one man holds two out of the three seats of power, he’s the President of Dark Pact and the Vice President of Demon Heart.

Compared to some heart-eating maniac, a Vampire sounds way more palatable.

If we latch onto this kind of big shot, we’ll be flying high in no time!

Forget robbing a simple NPC merchant. In this city, we could rob anyone we want.

We, HunYuan Thunderhands Cheng Kun, will become the new kings of Green City’s Underworld!”

His words made Thunderhands and Cheng Kun’s blood boil. They were just college students in real life, wanting to be gang bosses in reality would be a joke. Even the auntie downstairs could beat them up.

But in this game, it was different. Who hadn’t dreamed of leading a crew, picking up girls, strutting down the streets with hundreds of underlings at their command?

This game even allowed open daylight robberies. The realism was insane—they could totally live out those dreams here.

“Let’s go! The Hung Hing Society is now officially in business~!”

[T/N: The ‘Hung Hing Society’ is a reference to a fictional triad from the popular Hong Kong Young and Dangerous film series, often used humorously to mimic gangster roleplay in Chinese gaming culture.]

“Fatty, you know how to join Dark Pact?”

Hearing this, the fat merchant in his golden robe and swollen face cursed these damned bastards in his heart. What the hell did they think he was?!

“Sorry, I—” Just as he started to refuse, wham!

A sandbag-sized fist crashed down on him.

HunYuan sneered, “You were about to say?”

The fat merchant’s face trembled and he quickly caved. “You brave, dragon-slaying heroes, I swear on the Goddess of Wealth.

All you need to do is enter the Western District and ask around at a crowded tavern. Maybe, just maybe, someone from Dark Pact will find you.

I-I’m just a merchant, I don’t know much. I really am just a merchant, waaahhh I’m a merchant waaahhh...”

By the end, he was crying bitterly. His sobs were heart-wrenching, even making some of the passersby who had pretended not to see sneak a few sympathetic glances.

He swore, he just wanted to drive off a few noisy guys hanging around his storefront, and now... sob sob sob... he was utterly ruined.

The trio looked at each other awkwardly.

They were sweating bullets inside.

Damn it, you probably won’t believe us if we say it, but on our first day in this game, we mugged a street-side NPC merchant... and made him cry.

This game is freaking amazing.

“Alright, alright. We’ll let you off this time. Quit crying already.”

Cheng Kun awkwardly gave a half-hearted threat, and the fat merchant, fearing them, immediately forced back his tears and looked at them with red, aggrieved eyes, utterly helpless.

“You’re a grown man, acting like a little kid, aren’t you ashamed?

It’s just a beating. You’re an NPC, you know that? What are you crying for? From now on, no more tears,” Thunderhands said, stepping up like a wise mentor, speaking with an overly serious tone.

“You need to be strong. Life is tough, but the future is bright, it holds promise, it’s radiant. We have to believe we can pass the college entrance exam, I mean, believe we can!”

The fat merchant blinked, confused. “Can what?”

Thunderhands froze. “Uh... can... can something! Doesn’t matter what, it’s just can!”

The fat merchant fell silent. “Oh.”

Thunderhands looked pleased with himself and turned to HunYuan. “Second Brother, I’ve done my job giving him a proper ideological education. I believe he won’t dare next time. Isn’t that right, Fatty?”

The fat merchant was on the verge of tears again but just nodded furiously, praying these lunatics would finally leave.

“You see that, Second Brother?! This is the power of knowledge.”

HunYuan ignored him and turned to glance at the street, people passed by nonstop, but no one stopped to intervene or even entered the shop to help.

A contemplative glint flickered in his eyes.

“Looks like the security in Green City’s Western District is worse than I imagined. We’ve been robbing this place for quite a while now and no one’s tried to stop us, not even a single patrol. That’s really surprising.”

Cheng Kun asked curiously, “What does that mean?”

HunYuan’s expression didn’t change; he still looked like a poker-faced statue. “It means chaos. It means this kind of thing is extremely common. It means Green City’s patrols are very weak.

And it also means that when we rob people elsewhere, we don’t need to worry much. This place is our paradise.

Come on. Let’s go join Dark Pact and become professionals.

We, HunYuan Thunderhands Cheng Kun, will become the bosses of an underground gang and rule over all of Green City’s underworld.”

He turned around, clutching the dozen Silver Pucks and hundreds of Copper Pucks looted from the fat merchant, and headed toward the Western District.

The arrival of players was like spring rain—silent but pervasive—gradually seeping into Glory. Some chose the light, others chose the darkness.

What the future would bring… remained to be seen.
