I Became The Vampire Progenitor -
Chapter 200-2: I Hope You Will Become the Vice President of Demon Heart (Part 2)
Transcendence is only the beginning??
Never forget your original heart, finish what you begin??
Wales was struck deeply by those words. At this moment, he felt as though he were receiving divine guidance from the God of Wisdom himself. Many of the problems that had long plagued his mind were quietly dissolving. He suddenly understood much more about the path to Transcendence.
Lord Iro’s realm is too profound. Words so simple, yet filled with such insight, only a being capable of resisting the Holy Light, a power so vast it defies imagination, could possibly comprehend such truths.
"Lord Iro, your wisdom, your power, your strength, your generosity... I am filled with deep respect for you."
Wales, trying to suppress the joy in his heart, uttered a line that nearly made Li De spit out blood.
"I sincerely request that you become the Vice President of Demon Heart."
He didn’t feel there was anything strange about this request at all.
This was a being beyond Transcendence, perhaps even on the verge of ascending to Legendary status.
His understanding, his vision, his power, Wales simply couldn’t grasp it all. Just one casual bit of advice from him had given Wales a clear view of the path to Transcendence.
If he could follow Lord Iro's side even occasionally, just once or twice a year, how many detours and wasted years could he avoid?
Could he not one day follow in Lord Iro’s footsteps? Seize a temple of the Gods of Light? Steal their faith? Become a Legend? Even strive for Demi-godhood?
Even thinking about these glorious possibilities sent Wales into a frenzy of excitement.
Compared to that, what was being Vice President of Demon Heart? If he could ascend to greater heights, he could always create an even more powerful Demon Heart from scratch.
Li De’s sudden appearance had shown a glimmer of hope to a man stuck at Level 19 for nearly a century. This 19th-level Mind Eater, this undisputed boss of the underworld, had been completely won over by his own wild imagination.
He was already desperate to begin.
Wales had sacrificed an unthinkable price in his attempt to transcend, even replacing half his own bloodline with that of a demon.
And yet, in all that time, he had failed to find a way forward, until a single offhand comment from this man shattered that wall.
Only now did he understand the true value of a strong mentor to guide him.
Even if Lord Iro never formally accepted him as a disciple, even a few pointers would be worth any price.
Wales’s expression was filled with conviction.
"I…" Li De opened his mouth, then paused.
Wasn’t this the classic case of someone getting scammed so hard they help count the money after?
Did I just accidentally become the enemy’s boss while undercover??
Betty and Emi were just as dumbfounded. Weren’t they supposed to be negotiating, even preparing to fight?
Now they were practically one big happy family.
The group exchanged glances, wisely deciding to remain silent.
Everything would be decided by their great Lord Progenitor.
“Lord Iro, you need not worry. I believe your control of Dark Pact is merely to acquire rare alchemical materials and other supplies. As Vice President of Demon Heart, you won’t need to manage anything.”
Wales, thinking that this powerful figure was concerned about unnecessary hassle, quickly explained.
“Furthermore, I will have Demon Heart assist in fully rebuilding Dark Pact. This won’t interfere with your role at all.”
Li De twitched at the sincerity in Wales’s eyes.
Truly, schemes are the way to win hearts.
And honestly… being Vice President of Demon Heart didn’t sound bad at all.
One person controlling two of the three major underground factions in Green City? That’s a lot of face.
“Wales, you’re not wrong. I took over Dark Pact just to acquire certain magical and alchemical materials.”
“Your sincerity has moved me. I accept the position of Vice President of Demon Heart.”
Li De put on a face like Wales had just struck the greatest deal of his life.
“But unless something important happens, don’t bother me. And anything I ask of you must be completed as quickly as possible.”
Upon hearing this, Wales couldn’t hide his grin. He looked like he had just won the jackpot.
A being above Transcendence, possibly about to break into the Legendary realm, joining Demon Heart??
Magnificent!
“Of course, Lord Iro. Wales welcomes your arrival. From this moment on, Demon Heart will follow your commands at any time.”
A nearly Legendary existence was now part of Demon Heart.
Wales’s heart overflowed with joy. Meeting Lord Iro this year must have been the Luck Goddess winking at him from the heavens.
Praise the Abyss, praise the Luck Goddess, praise Lord Iro!
“Kedel, inform all the underground factions in Green City that Demon Heart now has a new Vice President, our great Lord Iro.”
“Also, announce that Lord Iro will be rebuilding Dark Pact. Demon Heart will provide unconditional support. During this time, anyone who opposes Dark Pact is declaring war on Demon Heart.”
Wales wasn’t done. Now that he had Li De’s promise, he eagerly pushed more chips onto the table. To win this being’s favor, he didn’t care how small the sacrifice.
He even dared to bet that if others found out he had secured such a powerful figure’s allegiance with such a minor price, they’d be driven mad with jealousy.
Truly a wise decision. Wales was extremely satisfied with himself, especially when he saw the pleased expression on Li De’s face.
See? Lord Iro is very pleased with my loyalty.
“Wales, you’re a clever man. The Dark Pact has suffered greatly under the military’s persecution. I need it fully restored in the shortest time possible.”
“Stanley will coordinate with you on this.”
Li De patted Wales’s shoulder with a weighty tone.
“Trust me. One day, you’ll be stunned by what you’ve done today.”
Wales beamed even brighter. He saw it as praise from Lord Iro.
Winning the favor of such a powerful being meant the future could only be glorious.
In his mind, he could already see himself becoming Transcendent… even Legendary.
Majestic Wales.
Ha! What a beautiful title!
“As you wish, Lord Iro.”
With the major matters settled, the atmosphere became much more relaxed.
“Lord Iro, the Black Market of the Western District is currently jointly run by Demon Heart and those degenerate warriors of Fallen Mist.”
Wales suddenly remembered something and added proudly:
“The Black Market in the Western District is the largest underground trade zone in all of Green City. Even many nobles conduct their secret dealings there.”
“If you have Gold Pucks, you can buy anything you want.”
“It was through the Black Market that I acquired the ritual to graft demon blood into my body.”
The Black Market?
Li De’s expression visibly changed.
Previously, Dark Pact had always lacked the time and power to break into the Black Market’s territory. So the juiciest piece of the Western District had always been out of reach.
Grote had reported this to him not long ago.
“And you’re saying...?”
“If you’re interested in the Black Market, Demon Heart is willing to give up a portion of its operations to let Dark Pact join in,” Wales said as if discussing something trivial, completely disregarding the massive profits the market generated annually.
But others in the room didn’t take it so lightly.
The man in black beside Wales looked like he was in physical pain. Clearly, Wales’s decision was no small matter to Demon Heart.
Li De noticed this subtle reaction and nodded.
“Have Stanley handle the details. Wales, your actions and attitude have earned my friendship.”
“I believe Demon Heart and Dark Pact will make excellent partners.”
“And you will have a far brighter future.”
Upon hearing this, Wales smiled as brilliantly as the sun.
“It is my honor, Lord Iro.”
Behind him, Emi lowered his head slightly, filled with deep emotion.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone sell themselves and be so happy about it.
Lord Progenitor... truly worthy of the title.
