I Became The Vampire Progenitor -
Chapter 195: Even Emi Was Shocked, Li De Wants to Use Mages for Farming?
The completion of the Mage Tower injected unimaginable vitality into Dawn City.
During the three-day public tour period, residents even put aside all their work to come and visit the Dawn Mage Tower.
Even though the Dawn Mage Tower was still just an empty shell, most of the structures still bare and unfinished, it did nothing to dampen the residents' enthusiasm.
This was their first time being so close to a Mage Tower. And not just any tower, but the legendary and mysterious Mage Tower.
A place where only exalted mage lords were qualified to reside.
The Saintlight Vampires didn’t enforce strict restrictions either, aside from the core area, all public zones were open to visitors.
Many residents with children of suitable age wore especially radiant smiles on their faces over the past few days.
Even if their children might not qualify to enter the Mage Tower due to lack of aptitude, there was still hope, wasn't there?
On the seventh floor of the main tower in the Dawn Mage Tower, Li De stood by a transparent window, gazing down over the entire Mage Tower complex.
In the distance, the land was still barren and grassy, devoid of any signs of life. Farther off, the twinkling lights of Dawn City glittered like stars. As night fell, the once-bustling city now lay beneath the moonlight like a sleeping beast.
Bringing his gaze back closer, the seven-colored auxiliary towers glowed beautifully under the moonlight. Above the towers, the shimmering magic arrays radiating mana fluctuations filled him with immense satisfaction.
Though the Dawn Mage Tower had cost over twenty times as much as the Crimson Mage Tower, its infrastructure was far superior in every aspect.
It was designed according to the standards of a Transcendent-level Mage Tower, an entirely different level altogether.
One main tower and eight auxiliary towers. These nine massive mage towers could accommodate nearly a thousand people simultaneously.
Once the living quarters within the tower complex were completed, the total capacity of the Mage Tower would exceed three thousand residents.
Moreover, the scale of the Dawn Mage Tower still left room for future expansion.
If the population continued to grow, a new residential ring could be built beyond the current outer walls. At that point, the complex could house eight to ten thousand people.
That would be comparable to the current population of Dawn City itself.
Of course, that was a plan for the future. For now, at the very least, the current Dawn Mage Tower would suffice for the next five years.
“Your Majesty, the Dawn Mage Tower was built using the blueprint of a Transcendent-level Mage Tower. For our current needs, it is more than sufficient.
If you wish to expand in the future, then based on the current thickness of the Mage Tower’s structure, the main tower can be upgraded to a height of 100 blades, and each auxiliary tower can be extended up to 50 blades.”
Emi stood behind Li De, reporting with great confidence.
“Moreover, a powerful magic array can be formed between the main tower and the auxiliary towers.”
Upon hearing that, Li De grew more interested. Construction of the Dawn Mage Tower had been under Emi’s full control. Aside from the occasional progress reports, he hadn’t paid much detailed attention to the tower that now belonged to him.
There were simply too many matters for him to handle, he didn’t have time to monitor everything personally.
“Tell me more.”
After the Bone Dragon attacked the Crimson Mage Tower and was repelled by its Magic Shield, he had become very interested in magic arrays.
Although he had no intention of studying this vast discipline himself, he maintained a keen interest.
“Yes, Your Majesty.
The blueprint for the Dawn Mage Tower came from the Temple of the Knight God, originally obtained from a Transcendent.
When I received the blueprint, I meticulously recorded every detail to be safe.
It had originally been kept by a Transcendent inside the Temple of the Knight God.
This Transcendent not only provided a detailed explanation of the blueprint, but also modified and incorporated a powerful magic array from the Temple into it.
After conducting an in-depth study, I confirmed that this magic array could indeed be constructed. So during the building of the Dawn Mage Tower, I reserved the necessary space for it.
The functions of this array are extremely powerful. it includes observation capabilities, lie detection, tracking, and defense. If completed, it would greatly benefit Dawn City.”
After finishing, a hint of regret flashed in Emi’s eyes.
“But the only downside is that we don’t have enough Magic Crystals. To construct that magic array would likely cost no less than 500,000 Gold Pucks.”
Hearing that, Li De immediately felt a headache.
More money again, why did every magic array cost this much??
The ancient alchemical magic array in the Crimson Mage Tower still hadn’t been fully completed, and now here came another gold-devouring beast. This was getting out of hand.
He had thought that with the Magic Factory built, the good days of prosperity had finally arrived, but clearly, he still had to keep a tight budget.
The income was indeed growing, but the expenses were growing even faster.
“Put the magic array project on hold for now. Dawn City won’t need it anytime soon.”
After a moment of thought, Li De shook his head and rejected the proposal. Though magic arrays were powerful, they weren’t high on the priority list. The Dawn Mage Tower wasn’t the same as the Crimson Mage Tower.
This place was secure enough. Installing a defensive magic array now wouldn’t be of much use.
It was the Crimson Mage Tower that was in real need, anything could happen out in the wild.
Although Emi was a little disappointed, he didn’t dare argue. Once Li De made a decision, there was no room for discussion, he could only carry it out.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“Also, organize the residents for magical aptitude testing as soon as possible. Any youth under the age of twenty who meets the basic standards can be recruited into the Mage Tower for training.”
A glint of determination flashed in Li De’s eyes. “In the future, Dawn City must not only have combat mages, but also production-type mages.
Emi, from now on, divide mage apprentices into two assessment categories:
First is talent, those with high magical aptitude will be prioritized for the combat mage track, and when the time comes to develop new Bloodline Descendants, we’ll select from this group first.
Second is temperament, those who are bold and unafraid of battle will also be prioritized for development as combat mages.
The rest, those with lower aptitude or gentler personalities, will be trained in support-type spells and turned into Dawn City’s production force.”
Li De’s thinking was crystal clear. Mages, as a powerful group that wielded immense strength, were undoubtedly formidable in combat.
But if they were used solely for fighting, that would be an enormous waste of resources. In fact, as far as he was concerned, the role of mages in production was no less valuable than in battle.
Unfortunately, due to deep-rooted beliefs in this world, no one had ever thought of using magic for farming.
In Glory, the idea of using magic for production work would be considered utterly bizarre.
Mage equals nobility, this concept was long established. To make noble lords engage in lowly production? Might as well say their brains had been eaten by demons.
But as someone whose soul came from the modern world, Li De naturally didn’t have such absurd notions. In his view, the power wielded by mages was equivalent to modern machinery, capable of accomplishing tasks that ordinary people simply couldn’t.
And the results of recent development had validated his thinking.
So in the future, he would divide the Dawn Mage Tower into two main branches.
The first branch, naturally, would be the Combat Division. All mages would receive elite training and learn the most powerful spells.
The second branch would be the Civil Division. These mages would be trained as producers of Dawn City, learning support-type spells.
Spells like Mage Hand, Cleaning Spells, Beast Repulsion, Healing Spells, Body Restoration. All of which could be used in productive work.
Of course, this was only a rough plan. While the idea was good, there were still many flaws to refine.
City-building was a process of exploration and growth. To fear making mistakes and do nothing, that wasn’t Li De’s way.
“Emi, take this opportunity to categorize all known vampire spells.
Separate combat spells from support spells.
And especially compile a dedicated list of spells suitable for productive use. Later, we’ll form a dedicated Research Division within the Dawn Mage Tower.
One that focuses entirely on how to apply magic to agricultural cultivation and other production sectors.”
Upon hearing this, Emi opened his mouth, then closed it again and simply nodded.
Had he not already become a Bloodline Descendant, this Shadow High Priest would probably have cursed Li De as a heretic. A noble spellcaster researching how to apply magic to farming instead of proper pursuits??
A noble mage, going off to farm??
But looking at Li De’s serious expression, Emi could only obediently agree. He understood Li De’s reasoning.
He also knew just how much potential mages had in terms of productivity.
Understanding was one thing. Accepting it was another.
Li De noticed Emi’s frustrated expression but didn’t mind. He understood all too well the deeply ingrained thinking of this world, and he didn’t care whether it was right or wrong. It was simply a difference in perspective.
As far as he was concerned, if it was useful, why shouldn’t a mage farm?
He even had Dylon, a noble and elegant Bloodline Descendant raising pigs.
“Also, don’t neglect the research into faith. In the future, there will be many areas for the Dawn Mage Tower to explore. I want you to get the Mage Tower fully operational as soon as possible.”
Li De’s gaze was filled with encouragement. The future role of the Dawn Mage Tower was not just that of a simple mage institution.
In fact, Li De preferred to call it a talent cultivation center and research institute. He would use the Mage Tower to solve problems he himself couldn’t tackle.
Upon hearing this, Emi immediately pulled himself together.
“Lord Progenitor, Emi will follow your every command!”
