I Am Unaware That I Am the Peerless Martial God -
Chapter 947: Are You Serious
Zhang Zhishan, as Zhang Chong's only son, had also arrived at the Venomous Sky Island.
By his own merits, he wouldn’t have qualified to set foot on the island, but his father happened to be the second-in-command there.
His father’s intentions were naturally good.
Venomous Sky Island gathered the most skilled poison masters from across the Cloud Star. Even a single casual pointer from any of them could benefit him for a lifetime.
Of course, letting him directly participate in research was out of the question.
And given his status, it was equally impossible for him to do menial tasks on the island.
So his job was to receive and accommodate volunteers like Yi Feng and ensure they were well taken care of.
Having just delivered dinner to Yi Feng, he stepped outside and spat in disdain.
"Hmph, to think I, Zhang Zhishan, have been reduced to delivering meals."
"Eat, eat, eat—I hope you choke on the food I brought.""My father is really something, forcing me to come to this wretched island, claiming I’d learn something. All I do every day is deal with this nonsense—what could I possibly learn?"
"And the most infuriating part is, there isn’t even a decent-looking woman on this entire island."
Clad in a pristine white robe, he was immaculate, not a speck of dirt even on the soles of his shoes.
His face was strikingly pale, with phoenix-like eyes and a high nose bridge—a peerlessly handsome jade-like visage.
With this appearance, women would flock to him wherever he went.
This was his greatest pride, and he reveled in the attention.
"Ah, how I miss the little ladies I keep at home…"
Just then, Night Owl descended from the sky.
Her storage ring was filled to the brim with cosmetics and women’s clothing.
But despite having bought so many outfits, she had no idea how to wear them.
"What kind of style does he like, I wonder?"
Night Owl bit her red lips in frustration.
When it came to fashion, she was a complete blank slate—her entire life had been spent in dark, gothic attire.
Now that she suddenly had to change her style, she was utterly lost.
Just as she was at a loss, she spotted Zhang Zhishan in his white robe.
Her brows twitched slightly.
She didn’t remember his name, but she vaguely recalled him.
Wasn’t he Zhang Chong’s son?
When she first arrived on the island, Zhang Chong had approached her.
Since Venomous Sky Island was one of the most crucial strongholds of the Heavenly Alliance, every visitor underwent strict scrutiny.
Night Owl had overheard her subordinates grumbling about him—a spoiled playboy whose greatest pleasure was toying with women.
Normally, she wouldn’t spare such a person a single glance, let alone allow him on the island. But Zhang Chong had pleaded relentlessly, and she had reluctantly agreed.
She had thought she’d never deign to look at someone like him in her life.
But as fate would have it, just as she was agonizing over her appearance, this very playboy appeared before her.
A womanizer like him might be useless in every other regard, but surely he knew a thing or two about women’s fashion.
She stepped through the air, landing directly above Zhang Zhishan.
Sensing the disturbance in space, Zhang Zhishan looked up in alarm and saw Night Owl staring down at him with an icy expression.
He knew exactly who this woman was.
Even if he dared act insolently in front of his father, he wouldn’t dare breathe too loudly in her presence.
"Greetings, Lady Night Owl!"
Zhang Zhishan immediately dropped to his knees, sweating profusely, silently praying she hadn’t overheard his earlier complaints.
Night Owl regarded him with barely concealed disdain. But since she needed his advice, she suppressed her disgust.
She cast a soundproof barrier around them with a wave of her hand.
"Get up," she said coldly.
Trembling, Zhang Zhishan rose and bowed. "How may this humble one serve you, Lady Night Owl?"
"Well…"
Night Owl hovered midair, arms crossed behind her back, hesitating. After a light cough, she finally spoke.
"Tell me—what kind of clothing and style do men like most on women?"
"Eh?"
Zhang Zhishan nearly thought he’d misheard, his whole body jerking in shock.
"Do I need to repeat myself?" Night Owl’s voice was frosty.
"Uh… my lady, are you serious?" he asked incredulously.
Her only response was a glare sharp enough to freeze his blood.
Zhang Zhishan quickly shut his mouth, thinking carefully before answering cautiously, "If we’re talking about what men like most… well, it’s usually something revealing, something that shows off a woman’s figure."
"How revealing? How does it show off the figure?" Night Owl pressed, her tone serious.
Seeing she was genuinely asking, Zhang Zhishan grew bolder. He gestured vaguely around his chest, cupping his hands suggestively.
"Well, showing off here… and emphasizing here, of course."
Instead of angering her, this actually made Night Owl ponder. "What else?" she asked.
"Hmm, aside from that, some additional accessories can enhance the effect," Zhang Zhishan said thoughtfully.
"Like what?"
"For example, black silk stockings that go all the way up to the thighs, preferably with lace trim at the top—that’s absolutely perfect." He grinned.
"Black silk… lace trim…"
Night Owl committed these details to memory.
"Anything else?"
"Well, if I may add," Zhang Zhishan said, drawing from his vast experience, "men tend to get bored of the same taste over time."
"Explain."
"It’s like food, my lady. If you eat the same dish every day, you’ll naturally grow tired of it."
"So if a woman can switch up her style occasionally, it’s even more enticing."
"For example, one day she could dress provocatively, the next day in something pure and innocent, and the day after in yet another style."
"That way, she keeps things fresh and exciting."
Zhang Zhishan grew more animated as he spoke, his face brimming with pride. "So you see, my lady, you’ve come to the right person! With all the women I’ve known, I’m an expert in these matters."
"Enough."
A surge of energy slapped him across the face, sending him crashing back to his knees.
Trembling, he kowtowed repeatedly, begging for mercy.
"If a single soul hears of this conversation, not even your father will be able to save you."
"Y-yes, my lady!"
He remained prostrate until, after what felt like an eternity, he dared to look up—only to find Night Owl already gone.
Collapsing to the ground, Zhang Zhishan exhaled in relief, his heart still pounding.
What in the world had that been about? Why would the infamous Night Owl ask him such things? It made no sense.
Still puzzled, he left to find his father, intending to beg Zhang Chong to let him leave Venomous Sky Island.
But the moment he stepped inside, he was kicked out.
"You brat, what are you doing here? Have you properly attended to Yi Feng and Fu Nanshan, our heroic volunteers?"
"Father, must I really babysit them all day?"
"Of course! These men are risking their lives to test poisons for the sake of humanity—Venomous Sky Island must treat them with the utmost respect. From now on, you will stand guard outside their doors around the clock. Any request they have, you fulfill it."
"Otherwise, you’ll never leave this island for the rest of your life."
Hearing this, Zhang Zhishan swallowed his retort and slunk away in disgrace.
