Chapter 648: Let my daughter go!

Gregory and Arwen were locked in a silent standoff, each prepared to react the moment the other made a move.

"So you think you have me beat now just because you brought me in here?" Arwen questioned with a mocking smile dancing at the corners of her lips.

Gregory calmly replied. "No, but here, I have an advantage and I intend to use it."

In response to his words, DreamWorld reacted with its fog receding to reveal a pristine white city, seemingly devoid of any form of impurity.

Arwen looked about, intrigued by the sight. "A Dreamscape."

"Do not force my hand, foul entity, let my daughter go, now!"

Arwen chuckled. "Unfortunately, I can’t do that. You see, Arwen is too important to let go of. She is fated with death and only she can handle the weight of what is to come."

"I don’t care about any of that. However, I won’t sit back and let you replace her existence so again I say, leave her body."

"No."

Gregory didn’t even say anything else as he exerted his Will, causing a white wave to emerge from everywhere within the pristine white city.

The city, which he hadn’t bothered to name, allowed him to erase anything he considered as unclean or impure, which in this case was a certain pesky entity latching on to Arwen.

Arwen’s flames emerged to defend her only to be sniffed out by Gregory.

"This is my Dreamscape, unless I allow it, you are powerless here."

The next instant, the whiteness engulfed Arwen, and a pained scream was heard.

Gregory gritted his teeth, trying his hardest to not stop the assault as he knew it was for Arwen’s good.

"Please endure it, my dear, it will be over soon."

Meanwhile, in reality, within that room that served as the home of the Silent Curtain, Alex struggled to get back on his feet as sounds returned to him.

To think that the Domain of Sound could be used in such a frightening manner left him in a state of fear.

It was an attack that couldn’t be defended against unless one somehow managed to erase the concept of sound from their existence which would surely end badly.

In any case, he looked to the side, quickly discovering that he was the only one left in the room with the Silent Curtain looming overhead.

Taking a deep breath, he got back on his feet, unsure of what to do next.

He couldn’t be certain of where she was but he knew Arwen was currently with the banshee that had attacked.

As for the others... Perhaps it was wise to ensure that they were safe.

Just then, he noticed the wrinkles on his skin causing him to realize that he was aging rapidly.

He immediately rushed out of the room, quickly discovering the banshees frozen in time outside.

"Ana..."

I found you!

Alex glanced towards the origin of the voice only to pause at the strange sight.

A rather tall fox was standing a few meters away, its body wreathed in peculiar flames.

"You are..."

Lady Victoria sent me to look for you.

"Where are they?"

They are currently dealing with the banshees. Lady Ana is unable to maintain the time bubble for too long.

"I see." Alex nodded, realizing that he had been worried for nothing.

His subordinates had grown more competent and could be left to deal with such matters.

As for him, he would have to focus on the most important thing; saving Arwen and Elena, wherever they were.

The screams of agony continued, causing Gregory heartache as he took steady steps forward.

However, just as he considered stopping, the screams stopped, with mocking laughter replacing it.

A deep frown marred his features as the whiteness subsided, revealing Arwen, who was completely unscathed.

"Arwen..."

"Quite unfortunate. In truth, your first mistake was considering me an impure spirit. Your second was thinking that you alone could handle me." Arwen, or rather, Riona intoned as she took a step forward.

"You are powerless here," Gregory said.

"Unfortunately so." Arwen admitted. "After the previous battle I fought, I am hardly in a state to forcibly suppress you with my Authority. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to deal with problematic entities such as yourself."

As she spoke, Arwen manifested a pair of bone wings catching Gregory off guard.

"How did you..."

"It isn’t a power, dear Gregory, it is merely another appendage, an extension of my body."

Realizing what she planned to do, Gregory rushed over but Arwen was quicker.

She immediately took to the sky and then, she began to sing.

Gregory quickly countered with a song of his own, causing two differing sound waves to clash against each other, resulting in a sonic boom.

But that wasn’t the end of it as Arwen reached for one of her wings and forcibly broke off a bone with a pointed end.

"I hope you have trained yourself in combat, dear Gregory, though from what I’ve heard, the Devil Wheel slacks off on physical improvements."

Gregory exerted his Will, manifesting several copies of himself which then took on varying forms.

Arwen cackled like a maniac as she dove down, seeking a head on fight.

Elena was within a strange space, held down by several skeletal hands who continued to sap away her strength, ensuring she couldn’t break away by herself.

Her form flickered between real and illusory, her breathing heavy as she stared forward at the tombstones in the white space, both of which seemed to stretch into infinity.

Meanwhile, in the Wailing Peaks, as the members of Constellations dealt with the banshees, Alex decided to take out the Silent Curtain as it appeared to be the deciding factor of the ritual Arwen was planning.

Alex took steady steps, quickly crossing the distance from the entrance of the room to the pedestal atop which the relic floated.

The invisible flames about him did not affect him in the way it was supposed to due to the peculiar flames burning around him, taking the form of a coat to barely repel the aging effects of the invisible flames.

Soon enough, he was standing before the relic.

Taking a deep breath to steady his mental state, Alex exerted his Will and snapped.
