Hunter of the Evernight -
Chapter 233: None shall be left alive
Chapter 233: None shall be left alive
Ana stood silently, perplexed by Alex’s words.
She knew for a fact that he had done something in his short trip to the past for him to be so bold but then again, was there a need to incense the enemy?
As a Cryptid, she had the privilege to share a closer relationship with Aether which was why she could sense Abraham’s depth.
It was unfathomable and unlike anything she’d ever seen.
This was the essence of a True God, one that represented a pillar of balance within Eventide.
But Alex exchanged words with such a figure and even dared to stand so close to him.
Was it courage or ignorance?... She couldn’t be sure but for some reason, she wasn’t completely scared.
A hint of excitement was slowly rising within her.
This was the adventure she was hoping for!... Exploring uncharted territories, experiencing stories unknown to man.
That was why she wanted to join Alex and it seemed her judgment was indeed correct.
This man... he would surely become a force to reckon with in the not-too-distant future and as long as they survived this encounter, she would surely be around to witness his exploits.

Abraham studied Alex with keen eyes, trying to figure out what gave this man the audacity to stand before him.
He didn’t care to wonder how he was still alive.
Though it irked him, what mattered most now was perfecting his apotheosis.
His face expanded like a balloon and then his neck followed in turn soon after.
’I have to expel the excess Yin to regain balance. But why is he so confident that my doing so would mean my defeat?’
He had a nagging feeling that something was wrong but he couldn’t quite place his finger on it.
It was an anomaly he’d never experienced before now.
Finally, after a sufficient amount of time passed, Abraham suddenly began to laugh, his voice echoing within the temple.
Then, he muttered. "I can’t believe it. With a series of bluffs, you managed to get me to stall long enough so the trace you placed within the Yin altar would deal more damage. You are indeed a smart one. Unfortunately, you encountered me."
"Oh, did I?" Alex replied, still as nonchalant as when he first arrived.
Abraham shook his head. "Enough talk. My patience is at an end and I shall not allow you to stall my ascent to godhood any longer."
With that said Abraham pulled out a card and tossed it into the air, the next moment, a spatial barrier formed about him.
Charlotte and Ana moved... or at least attempted to do so but with a casual gesture from Alex, both stopped in their tracks.
Abraham noted this but didn’t think much of it as he stretched out his hand and with an open palm, began to expel the excess Yin.
It emerged as a faint wisp of darkness, swirling and shifting forms as it gathered in his palm.
At that moment, the corners of Alex’s lips curled slightly as he casually reached out with his palm open.
Abraham suddenly paused as he sensed something was not right, unfortunately, it was too late for him.
Immediately, all the yin within him surged out like a storm, rushing toward Alex as it sought a new host.
Abraham watched this with his eyes wide in shock while the others on Alex’s side couldn’t help but gasp as well.
Meanwhile, Alex quickly opened the brown box he carried, using it to trap the yin flowing toward him.
Once this was done, he quickly snapped, causing a rip in space to form. Just beyond, his domain of Evernight lay in serene silence.
"No!" Abraham cried out but it was pointless as Alex tossed the box into the rip after which it disappeared.
At this point, Abraham’s body regained balance and even began to glow with an incandescent light.
"...What did you do?" Abraham asked, his voice hoarse as he glared at Alex.
Alex grinned as he replied. "You were right that I had implanted my yin into the altar to wrestle control from you. But one thing you failed to grasp was that I did so in the past."
"..." Abraham paused, his eyes widened in stark realization as he shifted his attention to Ana who returned his gaze with a warm smile.
His expression contorted before he suddenly burst into laughter. "Impressive, absolutely amazing!... My plan, so many years in the making, undone with just one move from you."
"I’m glad you are impressed." Alex followed along, even giving a dramatic bow as he spoke.
But Abraham did not stop laughing and one might say it worsened as he undid the spatial barrier he’d cast and unleashed a frightening authority to mark the temple as his domain.
Alex casually shrugged this off as he unleashed Nyx’s authority, easily doing away with the pressure he felt as well as helping the others recover quickly.
"I said you will die here, didn’t I?" Abraham muttered.
Alex shook his head. "On the contrary, I believe you to be the one at death’s door. Without yin to balance the equation, you are currently full of yang and if I understand correctly, Devils are beings that are meant to be more yin than yang. I wonder just how much damage you must be experiencing at this point, Abraham, or should I say... Fear."
"... I guess for someone like you it would be easy to tell."
"The situation in Popolis made me understand everything."
"I see." Abraham nodded.
"Give me the Mantle and I will be on my way."
Abraham paused before finally letting out a sigh. "Who would have thought... looked down upon by my sisters and now, the same situation but this time with a mortal."
"Do not allow this to extend further, Give me the Mantle," Alex warned again but of course, Abraham didn’t care to listen.
He raised his hand and a curtain of darkness quickly covered the alabaster temple, ensuring there was no escape or entry.
Alex’s expression turned grim as he knew what would happen next.
"I have waited... so many years, toiling, working... planning just to get to this point. Do you know how much I’ve had to go through to get here and now... now you tell me to give it all away?" Abraham’s body began to fall apart, revealing a shadowy presence underneath.
"Roland, Take Nadia far from here."
"...."
"Roland!"
"...Yes." Rising weakly, Roland turned and helped Nadia up but the latter refused him, taking her away.
"I can fight!" She said,
Alex glanced at her before shaking his head. "You don’t have to. I believe Vessina and Xistora are sufficient. Go...now!"
At this point, Abraham’s body had given away completely, leaving behind a spectral entity that stood at over 7ft.
Several cards, adorned with varying Abilities moved about it while the Mantle of Darkness acted as a cloak for him.
Alex, Ana, Charlotte, Roland, and even Nadia stood in place, frozen in fear as they stared at the creature.
The creature gazed back as it announced in a low but terrifying tone. "None of you shall leave this place alive."
