Chapter 88: Chapter 88: The First Time She Acted Cute
Li Xiaoxiao stayed with Fang Anning in the He family for a day and a half, arranging for Fang Anning to sleep in the guest room with her at night.
Sure enough, Fang Anning was in high spirits.
Her illness improved greatly, and thanks to the ample nutrition, the wounds on her arm healed and scarred quickly.
After Li Xiaoxiao left, Fang Anning’s teacher continued to come over to give her lessons.
She was really studying hard, seemingly determined to graduate with this cohort of students.
"Tomorrow, there is a comprehensive exam at school. If you have time, you might want to consider taking it. You can only graduate smoothly if you pass this exam, as it comes with a certificate."
After class, Mr. Chen said to Fang Anning.
Upon hearing this, Fang Anning immediately nodded in agreement: "Yes, I will definitely take the exam tomorrow."
Mr. Chen gave her the admission ticket, instructing her to go directly to the exam tomorrow.
Fang Anning was immensely grateful.
After receiving the admission ticket number, she immediately went to find He Tingchen to discuss her plans about taking the exam.
He Tingchen was in the study looking at documents, wearing glasses unexpectedly although he was not myopic. At first glance, he looked somewhat like a scholarly professor.
Fang Anning paused for a moment, then blurted out: "Why are you wearing glasses?"
"Mild myopia," He Tingchen said, removing the glasses.
Fang Anning thought to herself that there was quite a big difference between him with glasses and without.
With glasses, he immediately looked more refined.
In this appearance, if he went to teach at school, he would surely be seen as an erudite professor.
"Is there something you need?" He Tingchen asked.
Regaining her composure, Fang Anning quickly presented the admission ticket and said to He Tingchen, "Mr. Chen said there is a comprehensive exam tomorrow. If I pass, there’s a chance to graduate with this batch of students. I would like to try."
"Do you want to graduate early?" the man asked.
Fang Anning nodded: "If I can reclaim the two years I lost, I would certainly be happy."
"Actually, getting a graduation certificate for you wouldn’t be difficult; all I would need to do is speak a word, and you could get whatever certificate you wanted," the man stated authoritatively.
However, Fang Anning firmly declined: "No, I want to earn my certificate with my own abilities."
What good is relying on him?
When she leaves him after the child is born, how will she manage without this support?
If even her graduation certificate is fake, who would want someone like her!
"But your condition now is not convenient," the man said in a low voice.
Fang Anning pleaded, "I’ll be careful, don’t worry. The child is in my womb, and I’m well aware of it. I will take utmost care of this child and ensure no mishaps occur. Please, let me go!"
Having said this, Fang Anning even clapped her hands together, puffing her mouth slightly, her black eyes rippling with waves.
The man’s eyes deepened as he looked at her.
This was her first time acting coquettishly towards him like this, the upsweep of her tone surprisingly pleasant to hear.
His heart involuntarily softened.
Even he was surprised that he could be swayed by the plea of such a woman.
"Fine, I agree, but let Mrs. Chen accompany you. Also, take several bodyguards with you. I do not want a repeat of the previous incident."
"Yes, don’t worry, it won’t happen again," she assured.
Fang Anning didn’t expect the man to agree so readily and immediately nodded vigorously, excited.
Her cheeks blushed slightly from the exhilaration.
Seeing how adorable she was, the man couldn’t resist the urge to tease her.
He crooked his finger at her and said, "Come here?"
"Ah, what is it?" Fang Anning was surprised.
Nevertheless, she honestly walked over.
After all, the man had agreed to her request, and she was immensely grateful to him.
"Thanks isn’t just about saying it, you have to show some real appreciation," the man said in a husky voice.
Fang Anning frowned, not understanding his implication.
The man’s long fingers hooked again, then pointed at his own cheek.
Fang Anning’s face turned red, but she quickly understood what the man meant.
However, she immediately touched her belly and said with difficulty, "But, it’s not quite convenient for me."
Hmm, let him always use her condition as an excuse to restrict her in many things.
This time, she would also use that as a shield to limit him.
"Inconvenient?" the man raised an eyebrow.
Fang Anning nodded: "Yes, inconvenient."
The man’s eyes darkened, suddenly he reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards him.
Fang Anning exclaimed, and by the time she realized it, she was already sitting on He Tingchen’s lap.
"This is really dangerous," Fang Anning complained with a frown.
The man slightly curled his lips and lifted her chin to kiss her flushed lips.
Fang Anning found it hard to breathe from his kisses, her hands restlessly clutching the front of his shirt.
"Dangerous?"
The man only let go of her when she seemed breathless.
After releasing her, he asked in a hoarse voice.
Fang Anning’s face turned red, and she quickly shook her head.
"From now on, no deceiving me, and no perfunctory responses," the man warned, tapping her nose with his long finger.
"Got it," Fang Anning reluctantly agreed.
Really, he was allowed to set fires, but the common people couldn’t even light lamps.
He used this excuse himself all the time to restrict her from doing many things, and when she used it just once, she was punished like this; it was too unfair.
"Not convinced?" the man asked.
Fang Anning bit her lip, neither nodding nor shaking her head.
The man said, "I know you’re not convinced; after all this time, I somewhat understand your temper. But your dissatisfaction is useless; in this contest, the difference between our strengths is huge. Other than obeying and complying with me, what choice do you have?"
"Yes, indeed the strength disparity is huge; we’re not even on the same level, but you didn’t have to say it," Fang Anning angrily stood up from his embrace, defiantly turning her back to leave.
"Hmph."
The man chuckled and shook his head.
Indeed, just like a little wild cat, seemingly tamed. Yet still needing to occasionally stretch out her claws for a scratch, putting up a bit of resistance.
But, as long as it wasn’t too excessive, he wouldn’t quibble with her.
At that moment, a phone rang.
Seeing the name displayed, the man slightly furrowed his brows.
He paused for a moment before answering.
In a deep voice, he asked, "What is it?"
"Are you free tomorrow? Let’s meet and have a meal together," a soft female voice came through.
He Tingchen said, "I don’t have time, and I don’t see a need for us to meet."
"Is it because you have someone new?" the woman asked laughingly.
He Tingchen responded, "You were never considered old."
The woman sighed, "I see. Actually, I just wanted to thank you for giving me the chance to come home. Since you don’t want to meet, let’s leave it at that, I’ll visit some other day to express my thanks."
After saying this, the woman ended the call voluntarily.
He Tingchen held the phone with a slight frown, absorbed in his thoughts for a moment, then deleted the woman’s contact information from his phone.
Since she had already returned, there was no need to keep her number anymore.
