Chapter 66: Truly a Narrow Encounter with an Enemy

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Truly a Narrow Encounter with an Enemy

Fang Anning was inexplicably splashed with an unknown liquid, which frightened her into screaming.

Her classmates around her were also scared and quickly moved away, fearing it might be something like sulfuric acid.

Fortunately, Fang Anning quickly checked the splashed area and it wasn’t scalded. After feeling it, she realized that it was just a cup of hot water.

"Chen Mengmeng, you are crazy."

Fang Anning, confirming she was fine, angrily questioned.

Chen Mengmeng cried and said, "I am crazy, driven crazy by you. You vixen, how could you harm Mu Yunxi so badly, do you know you’ve practically killed him?"

"Mu Yunxi is dead?" Fang Anning was shocked.

Chen Mengmeng, sobbing, said: "He’s still in the hospital now, they won’t even let me see him, they say his chances are slim."

Fang Anning breathed a sigh of relief, so he’s not dead yet?

That Chen Mengmeng is such a drama queen, really scares people to death.

She snorted coldly, "He deserves it if he dies, he purposely framed me. Chen Mengmeng, you’re such a naive fool. I advise you to stay away from Mu Yunxi, otherwise, you might be the next to get hurt without even knowing."

"You’re the fool, Fang Anning, what are you so proud of? Just relying on He Tingchen? Wait till the day when He Tingchen leaves you, let’s see how arrogant you’ll be then," Cheng Mengmeng shouted.

Fang Anning chuckled, thinking to herself that He Tingchen has indeed left her, so indeed she can’t be arrogant now.

But she didn’t plan to tell Chen Mengmeng about it, why bother making herself unhappy?

Chen Mengmeng probably chose boiling water instead of acid, considering He Tingchen’s influence.

Let it be, let her fake it a while longer, borrowing He Tingchen’s influence.

"Fang Anning, where are you going?"

Chen Mengmeng, seeing Fang Anning ignoring her and leaving, couldn’t help but shout again.

Fang Anning turned around and said, "Of course I’m going to class, or should I stay here and argue with a lunatic like you? Also, this is the last time, do it again and I’ll call the police. One of you in the hospital and the other in jail, you two are indeed a match made in heaven."

"You wicked girl," Chen Mengmeng gritted her teeth and cursed.

Fang Anning didn’t care about her, went home to change into clean clothes, and then rushed back to school for class.

And Li Xiaoxiao really became a trainee, sometimes the training for trainees is residential. Once closed, it could last ten days or half a month, so she basically didn’t live in the rented apartment.

After school, Fang Anning returned home to find the empty two-bedroom apartment feeling very spacious. She couldn’t help but regret, had she known it would be like this, she would have rented a one-bedroom apartment to avoid feeling too lonely.

At first, she really wasn’t used to it.

Several times, she would walk towards that alley after school, and only realize when seeing no cars in the alley that He Tingchen had left her, so she didn’t need to go back to the He family.

"It’s good, no need to constantly worry about losing my little life, nor sleep on the floor anymore. It’s actually nice."

Fang Anning lay on the bed, talking to herself.

Yet in the middle of the night, she would suddenly wake up from her dreams.

Because in her dreams, she saw He Tingchen’s profound eyes again; his lips thin, uttering ruthless words, then leaning in close.

"No way, I can’t go on like this, I need to find a job." Half a month later, Fang Anning looked at her thinned figure in the mirror and couldn’t help but talk to herself.

During this time, she wasn’t eating or sleeping well, feeling nauseous momentarily.

She thought leaving He Tingchen would make her happy but didn’t expect it to turn out this way.

She analyzed and thought, maybe it was because she had too much free time.

When free, troubles arise, so finding a job keeps one busy and free from such feelings.

Having made up her mind, Fang Anning went to look for Lu Tianyu, asking him to help her find a job.

Lu Tianyu was naturally happy to hear that she wanted to work again, and he introduced her to a nightclub he oversaw to work as a waitress.

Although the place was a bit chaotic, it was still safe under his watch.

Most importantly, Fang Anning could stay close to him, allowing them more time to be together.

"You will only be responsible for serving tea. Don’t worry about the rest. If any customer harasses you, come find me or someone else immediately. You are my person, they all know this, and they will protect you," Lu Tianyu instructed Fang Anning.

Fang Anning nodded, and smiling, she patted his shoulder and said, "Turnip, thank you so much, you’ve helped me out again."

"Didn’t you say your aunt’s illness had improved and the financial issues were resolved? Why do you want to work again?" Lu Tianyu asked again.

Fang Anning said, "Don’t worry about the money for now. I’m working because I’m too bored, so I thought I’d find a job to keep busy. Don’t overthink it; I’m not short on cash."

"If you’re short of money, tell me. Don’t hesitate with me," Lu Tianyu said.

Fang Anning nodded.

She left with the manager to change her clothes and began serving drinks to the customers.

The uniforms for the waitresses were all the same, slightly sensual by design. However, when Fang Anning wore it, with her slim waist, long legs, and fuller figure, she looked even more attractive and seductive.

So, she often experienced customers flirting and teasing her.

Fortunately, Fang Anning had done this job before, and each time she managed to extricate herself unharmed without offending the customers.

If it ever became unbearable, she would go out and ask Lu Tianyu for help, and he would come to assist her.

Thus, she was quite safe after a week.

"Anning, go take this fruit platter to the customers in room 208."

As soon as Fang Anning arrived at the nightclub and changed her clothes, the manager handed her a fruit platter.

"Where’s Xiao Wei?" Fang Anning asked.

Today Xiao Wei was in charge of room 208, responsible for that floor.

The manager said frustratingly, "Don’t even mention it. Xiao Wei somehow offended a customer and just got beaten up by someone inside. She’s injured and has been sent to the hospital, so you fill in for her for now."

"But I’m supposed to be upstairs..."

"I’ll send someone else upstairs," the manager said.

Fang Anning took a deep breath, realizing the manager had given her this challenging task because she was protected by Lu Tianyu.

Well, the manager has it tough too; she’d be careful once inside.

"Sorry to disturb you, this is your fruit platter."

Fang Anning knocked and entered, setting the fruit platter on the coffee table.

The room was filled with smoke and dimly lit, making it difficult to discern who was who.

However, Fang Anning didn’t need to see clearly; she was about to leave when she heard a familiar voice mockingly call out, "Fang Anning? What a rarity! Aren’t you Mrs. He Tingchen? What are you doing working as a waitress here?"

Fang Anning clenched her teeth; how unlucky, the Zhou siblings happened to be there too.

Zhou Musen had been injured by Lu Tianyu, called by Fang Anning last time, and had been hospitalized for over a month. He had just come out and, in a twisted fate, ran into Fang Anning.

So, he slammed his wine glass on the coffee table, stood up, and scoffed, "Fang Anning, we really do run into each other in the strangest places."
