Fang Anning slapped the man across the face, demanding fiercely, "Where is Li Xiaoxiao?"

The man, furious, immediately raised his hand, cursing, "Who the fuck are you? You dare to hit me?"

"Where is Li Xiaoxiao?" Lu Tianyu rushed over, flipping the man’s arm behind his back, pinning him against the wall so he couldn’t move.

Frightened, the man yelled, "Li Xiaoxiao, Li Xiaoxiao is in the restroom. She ran in there. I didn’t manage to do anything, let me go!"

"Xiaoxiao, it’s Anning. I came to rescue you."

Fang Anning immediately started pounding on the door "bang bang bang".

After a while, the restroom door slowly opened, and Li Xiaoxiao emerged with her hair disheveled and her face streaked with tears.

Seeing Fang Anning, she burst into tears and threw herself into her arms, crying, "Anning, I was so scared."

"Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, I’m here, no one will hurt you," Fang Anning comforted her as she held her.

"Li Xiaoxiao, tell them quickly. I didn’t do anything. Let them let me go," the man being restrained pleaded loudly.

He must be Mr. Chen.

Fang Anning sternly asked Li Xiaoxiao, "Xiaoxiao, did he mistreat you?"

" No, I didn’t. I kicked him and ran into the restroom. Wuu wuu, I can’t find my phone, I couldn’t contact you," Li Xiaoxiao sobbed.

Fang Anning breathed a sigh of relief and led Li Xiaoxiao out.

Lu Tianyu asked, "What should we do with this guy?"

"Give him a beating, of course. What else, keep him for the New Year?" Fang Anning snorted.

"Okay," Lu Tianyu laughed and nodded.

Fang Anning took Li Xiaoxiao away, and sounds of Mr. Chen’s moans of pain could be heard from the room.

Lu Tianyu soon came out, his demeanor calm, "He probably won’t dare to leave the house for a month."

"Thank you!" Fang Anning expressed her gratitude.

"You don’t need to thank me," Lu Tianyu’s voice was low, "I’ll take you two home."

Fang Anning nodded.

Lu Tianyu had come on his motorcycle, but considering the state of the two women, they couldn’t ride a motorcycle. So, he hailed a cab and sent them home.

Fang Anning thanked Lu Tianyu again and asked him to leave.

As soon as Fang Anning got back to the room, she saw Li Xiaoxiao sitting on the bed, looking lost. Her face still bore tear streaks and slap marks, her clothes were disheveled, and she looked utterly frightened by the evening’s events.

Fang Anning tenderly helped her up and led her to the bathroom to help her undress and bathe her.

After taking a hot shower, Li Xiaoxiao felt somewhat better but expressed her worries to Fang Anning, "This Mr. Chen was just transferred here. After today’s incident, I’m afraid it might be impossible to keep working at that company."

"That kind of company, it’s okay not to work there. Find another job. Yun City is so big, there are so many companies, it’s not like you have to work at their company," Fang Anning reassured her.

Li Xiaoxiao nodded.

Fang Anning told her to lie down and sleep, and tucked her in.

Indeed, Li Xiaoxiao had nightmares that night, and Fang Anning stayed by her side, comforting her for a long time before she calmed down.

The HR manager retorted, "If you’re unsatisfied, you’re free to leave as is. But don’t say I didn’t warn you, if you don’t have a clearance contract from the company, it will hinder your job search."

"You..." Li Xiaoxiao fumed, clearly being deliberately made things difficult for her.

Fang Anning had taken two hours off today to accompany her for the resignation procedures, mainly worried the company might make things difficult for her. However, Li Xiaoxiao didn’t ask her to come in, thinking the process would be swift.

Fang Anning bit her lip; this woman had covered all bases, clearly intent on making them swallow this unjust treatment.

"Of course, I have questions. We’ll take this list for now, and we’ll not settle things today," Fang Anning said.

The HR manager scoffed, "Not processing today counts as absence, and you’ll owe the company even more tomorrow."

"Anning, let’s just do it. Better to avoid trouble," Li Xiaoxiao whispered.

Fang Anning also considered accepting it temporarily to keep things calm, but seeing the HR manager’s arrogant demeanor, she really couldn’t swallow her anger.

"Let’s go, we can’t accept this injustice." In the end, Fang Anning still pulled Li Xiaoxiao out.

"Did this HR manager do anything wrong to you?" Once out of the company door, Fang Anning asked Li Xiaoxiao.

Li Xiaoxiao sighed, "It’s definitely because of Mr. Chen, this HR manager’s name is Jin Na, she’s Mr. Chen’s wife."
