How I Became The Devil's Last and Only Love
Chapter 26: The Hotel in the Wilderness

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The Hotel in the Wilderness

Pink dress, warm makeup, slightly curled long hair.

Fang Anning, under Zhu Li’s superb skills, descended from upstairs like a delicate life-sized Barbie doll.

He Tingchen looked up and squinted slightly at her.

Fang Anning felt his gaze and immediately flashed a pleasing smile at him.

"Mr. He, are you satisfied?" Zhu Li respectfully asked with her head lowered.

He Tingchen nodded slightly and waved his hand, signaling Mrs. Chen to see them out.

After Zhu Li and others left, Fang Anning sweetly asked again: "Honey, are you dressing me up like this for a banquet?"

It surely wasn’t just a whim for him to dress her up like this late at night just for a visual pleasure.

"Hmm, we’ll leave in ten minutes," the man said.

He was pleased with her initiative in calling him ’husband’.

Indeed, she was different from the other women; at the least, she wasn’t afraid of him.

"Can I ask where we are going?" Fang Anning sweetly smiled and asked.

If it was the cemetery again, she would definitely wear sneakers. Even if it didn’t match the dress, she would still wear them.

"I already said, a banquet naturally means we’re going to a hotel," the man replied impatiently.

Fang Anning breathed a sigh of relief, feeling much more comfortable in the pair of high heels she had on.

Ten minutes later, He Tingchen changed into a suit and led her out.

The car drove for about an hour before stopping at the entrance of a hotel.

This hotel was rather secluded.

When the car first left the city area, she almost panicked.

She even thought that He Tingchen wanted to take her, dolled up, to a remote area to deal with her.

As the surroundings became more desolate, she almost wanted to push open the door and escape by jumping out of the moving car.

Luckily, she endured and actually saw a hotel.

But, such a hotel built in the wilderness, was its business really good?

"Get out."

As soon as the car stopped, a doorman came over to open the car door.

The man reminded Fang Anning.

She snapped back to her senses and quickly followed him out of the car.

Only then did she notice that the hotel’s standard was not ordinary at all. Just from those two glittering golden lions at the entrance, one could feel its luxury.

"Is it real gold?" Fang Anning whispered.

The man could not help but lift his lips slightly and scolded: "Idiot."

Fang Anning pouted; she was just curious.

But thinking about it, it should be gold-plated. If it were real gold, it would be extremely expensive.

"Mr. He, please this way."

A young man in a suit led them inside.

Fang Anning followed He Tingchen, glanced back and realized. Behind them were five or six bodyguards.

These bodyguards were probably sitting in the cars behind; she was not aware, thinking it was just her and He Tingchen only.

The hotel was magnificent but quite deserted. Apart from them, there were no other people to be seen.

After entering the elevator.

The elevator took them all the way to the eighth floor before stopping.

Upon exiting the elevator, the floor was covered with thick dark red carpet. The surrounding walls, primarily gold and supplemented with silver, showed their intent all too clearly.

It was as if the walls screamed in bold letters, ’Money is No Object’.

She was not new to working in hotels; she had also worked in Yun City’s most upscale five-star hotel.

But this place was definitely more than just a hotel.

Fang Anning started to feel nervous, initially loosely holding He Tingchen’s arm.

Now, out of nervousness, she gripped harder, hugging tightly, afraid that the man would leave her behind.

Soon, the hotel’s service staff led them to the door of a room.

The room number on the door was unexpectedly Zero.

Fang Anning became even more anxious. What kind of hotel has a room number Zero?

This was too abnormal.

And upon opening the door, the arrangement inside made it clear that this was no ordinary guest room.

There wasn’t even a bed, just a sofa.

Moreover, there was a very large chair placed near what seemed to be a balcony. The chair faced the window, whose curtains were drawn, making it impossible to see outside.

After the service staff brought them inside, they shut the door and left.

Fang Anning immediately asked nervously, "What place is this?"

"Why are you nervous?" the man asked, frowning in displeasure.

Fang Anning thought, how could I not be nervous?

You’ve brought me to this desolate place, if something were to happen to me here, nobody would even know if I died. How could I not be nervous?

"I’m timid and scared."

"With me here, what’s there to fear?" The man embraced her waist and sat down on the large chair.

Fang Anning obediently sat beside him, her mind racing with the thought that it was exactly because he was here that she was scared.

The bodyguards behind them came forward, one to the left and one to the right, and pulled open the curtains.

It turned out to be a piece of glass, and moreover, one that clearly allowed visibility outside.

And outside, contrary to her expectations of a scene, was a large platform. Judging from the decor and arrangement, it resembled an auction she had seen on TV.

"Is this an auction?" Fang Anning asked hurriedly.

He Tingchen touched her hair gently and said, "You do have some discernment."

An auction, really?

Fang Anning was shocked!

No wonder this hotel didn’t feel like a normal one. Situated in such a remote location, it turned out not to be a hotel for accommodation at all, but a place specifically for auctions.

She had thought that such places only existed in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

She hadn’t expected one to really exist so close to her.

Of course, her being a lowly poor laborer, oblivious to such grandiose places, was understandable.

"Why are we here?" Fang Anning asked curiously.

"I heard there’s something fun tonight, bought it for you to play with," the man said indifferently.

Upon hearing this, Fang Anning’s eyes sparkled.

Anything auctioned here must be of great value.

If he gave it to her, it would be hers.

If she couldn’t have children later, and Old Mr. He asked her to repay the money, she could use these items as her debt repayment, which was perfect!

"Eh? Isn’t that Zhou Zhaoguo?" Fang Anning suddenly spotted someone entering outside, surprised.

She looked closely and indeed, it was Zhou Zhaoguo and Chen Fengjiao.

The two walked in arm in arm, were led to their seats by someone, and then sat in the audience area quite close to the front, apparently regulars here.

Fang Anning immediately shrank back. From their seats, Zhou Zhaoguo and Chen Fengjiao could easily see her if they just looked up.

But, just as soon as she shrank back, He Tingchen wrapped his arm around her waist.

"Don’t worry, this is a one-way mirror. They can’t see you."

"Really!" Fang Anning breathed a sigh of relief.

At this time, many more people came in.

As soon as it struck ten, the auction started.

The auctioneer introduced a few items, all sounding quite extraordinary—Fang Anning didn’t recognize any.

However, she noticed that when a set of translucent jade tea cups were introduced, Chen Fengjiao’s face showed excitement, though she quickly regained composure after Zhou Zhaoguo patted her shoulder.

Could it be, Zhou Zhaoguo and Chen Fengjiao came today to bid on that set of translucent jade tea cups?
