Chapter 166 - 152: Everyone Has a Chance

Chapter 166: Chapter 152: Everyone Has a Chance

Fang Anning brought He Zirui home.

On the way home, He Zirui said to her, "Auntie, you should stay away from that woman; she’s not a good person."

Fang Anning raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why do you say that?"

He Zirui snorted coldly, "Because she likes that man, so she’s not a good person."

"How do you know?" asked Fang Anning.

He Zirui lowered his head and remained silent.

Fang Anning guessed, "Have you seen the two of them together?"

He Zirui nodded, "I saw her hugging that man, but he pushed her away. That man hates when people do that to him, he never likes anyone getting close. Normally, he’d immediately send others away, but it’s different with this woman; she was still at the house the next day."

Fang Anning understood, a bitter feeling welling up inside her.

She had known all along that Cheng Wanbai was different to He Tingchen, yet she had been deceiving herself.

When He Tingchen came home, he saw Fang Anning sitting on the balcony looking gloomy.

He walked over and hugged her from behind, kissed her cheek and asked, "What’s wrong? Did that kid upset you when you took him out today?"

"No, he was well-behaved and very obedient, I’m just a bit tired," Fang Anning explained.

He Tingchen said discontentedly, "It’s still because you took him out that you’re tired. Don’t take him out again in the future."

"Today we also encountered someone there," Fang Anning turned around and looked deeply into his eyes.

"Who did you meet?" He Tingchen asked.

"Cheng Wanbai," Fang Anning said her name.

He Tingchen’s expression remained calm, he said lightly, "That is quite a coincidence."

"About the rumors involving you and Cheng Wanbai..."

"You said it yourself, they’re just rumors."

"Was it just to upset me?" Fang Anning asked.

"What else? Alright, don’t think too much about it, let’s go have dinner."

"Can’t I be jealous?" Fang Anning pouted.

He Tingchen smiled and said, "Why be jealous of her? I’ve known her for so many years, if there was anything between us, it would have happened long ago. Why would we wait until now? So, there’s no need for you to be jealous."

Fang Anning pursed her lips, knowing he made sense, yet she still felt uncomfortable.

Later that evening, He Min, who hadn’t been in contact with He Tingchen for a while, suddenly got in touch.

She said there was a cocktail party tomorrow and she wanted to invite him to attend.

He Tingchen thought for a moment and agreed, "Alright."

He Min was surprised and quickly asked, "You really agree?"

"You called me to ask, aren’t you hoping I’d agree?" He Tingchen replied.

He Min chuckled awkwardly, "Yes, but I didn’t expect you to agree so readily. Well, it’s settled then, come over tomorrow, but you have to bring a companion. If you don’t have one, I can find one for you."

"No need, I have a companion," said He Tingchen.

He then hung up the phone.

Actually, as he mentioned having a companion, Fang Anning had just happened to come over.

He mentioned he had a companion, and there was no need to guess who it would be.

She walked over, about to ask him what kind of cocktail party it was, so she could match her jewelry with her outfit.

But to her surprise, right after He Tingchen hung up with He Min, he immediately dialed another number and gave a low order, "There’s a cocktail party tomorrow evening, come with me."

After finishing, he put the phone down.

Fang Anning stood behind him, completely stiffened, her eyes blankly staring at his back.

Until Mrs. Chen came over and asked in surprise, "Wife, what are you doing here?"

Fang Anning finally snapped back to reality and hastily said, "Oh, I came to get something."

He Tingchen stood up, turned around, and asked, "Ningning? When did you arrive?"

"Just got here." Fang Anning smiled casually.

She walked over and picked up the book on the coffee table, saying, "I forgot a book here, so I came to get it."

"Ningning, I won’t be home for dinner tomorrow night," He Tingchen told her again.

Fang Anning’s body stiffened, and she forced a smile to ask, "What’s up? Something going on?"

"Um, something came up, you don’t need to wait for me tomorrow night." After saying this, He Tingchen gently hugged her.

Since the two had resolved their misunderstandings, He Tingchen liked to call her by the nickname Ningning.

This nickname was also frequently used by her mother, who, after falling into a coma, never called her that again.

Unexpectedly, she could hear it from him now.

Every time she heard him call her by that name in the past, her heart was warm, indescribably happy and elated.

It felt like being cherished with utmost care, gingerly treasured.

But this time, she just felt a chill throughout her body.

Was Cheng Wanbai the last person he talked to on the phone?

After all, she and he were different.

The next evening, He Tingchen indeed did not come home for dinner.

Fang Anning didn’t have much of an appetite either, only eating a few bites before feeling full.

She lay on the lounge chair, looking at the moonlight and stars outside, unable to help thinking what was he doing with her right now?

As she thought about it, her phone rang.

She quickly picked it up, thinking that He Tingchen missed her too and was calling her.

But it was Bai Yunyang’s voice on the other end.

"Are you alright?" Bai Yunyang asked.

Disappointed, Fang Anning said, "Of course I’m fine. Is there something? I thought we agreed not to contact each other again?"

"Yes, we agreed, but today I attended a party and saw He Tingchen and Cheng Wanbai inseparable. Didn’t you say you had made up with him? But why is he still with Cheng Wanbai?" Bai Yunyang asked.

Fang Anning’s heart was stabbed again. She was already upset about this, and now he directly brought it up.

So, she responded angrily, "How should I know, and what business is it of yours?"

"I’m doing this for your sake," Bai Yunyang said patiently.

"Why?" Fang Anning was not foolish, "There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world, why would you care about me? We’re not related in any way."

"Because... if you keep a hold on He Tingchen’s heart, Yunzhu won’t have a chance," Bai Yunyang thought of a reason.

Fang Anning thought about it and didn’t doubt his reason.

"Don’t worry, no matter what, it won’t be your sister’s turn," Fang Anning said.

Bai Yunyang gave a bitter laugh, "But as long as he doesn’t marry you officially, everyone thinks they have a chance."

Yes!

It dawned on Fang Anning, how could she have forgotten about this?

She said she was He Tingchen’s wife, carrying He Tingchen’s child, but who would believe her?

As long as the wedding is not conducted, to all other women, He Tingchen is single, and everyone has a chance.

"Thanks for the reminder, I know what I need to do now," Fang Anning said.

Bai Yunyang continued, "I’ll repeat what I said before, I still owe you a favor. If you need my help, just ask, and I’ll do my best...I won’t betray you like last time."

"Thank you!" Fang Anning expressed her gratitude.

After hanging up the phone, she touched her belly, resolutely decided. When He Tingchen comes back, she would discuss wedding plans with him.

Since they liked each other and even had a child, having a wedding should be the sensible thing to do!
