How I Became The Devil's Last and Only Love
Chapter 119: You Asked Me for Help

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: You Asked Me for Help

"Wife, please be careful."

Mrs. Chen saw Fang Anning coming down the stairs and immediately ran up to support her.

Fang Anning said, "I’m fine, Mrs. Chen, you don’t need to be so nervous."

Now her lower abdomen was slightly bulging, showing some signs of pregnancy. Therefore, Mrs. Chen was extremely nervous and anxious about anything she did.

Fang Anning felt that if Mrs. Chen continued like this, she would definitely get anxiety.

"It’s only because I’m worried about you," Mrs. Chen said.

"I know you are worried about me, but this way I’ll be very anxious," Fang Anning said.

While they were talking, Wen Yi came in and greeted Fang Anning.

"Why are you here? Mr. He is not in," said Fang Anning.

Wen Yi smiled and said, "Mr. He asked me to bring you egg tarts, saying these are your favorite from that shop. They’re still warm, you can eat them while they’re hot."

Mrs. Chen laughed and said, "Sir really cares about the wife, please sit on the sofa; I’ll pour you a glass of milk, it’s best to eat with the egg tarts."

Fang Anning sat on the sofa and opened the egg tarts.

Indeed, she could smell the delicious fragrance right away.

"Thank him for me," Fang Anning told Wen Yi.

Wen Yi smiled and said, "Mr. He would be even happier if the wife personally thanks him."

"Of course, I will thank him personally, but when you go back, tell him I really appreciate it," Fang Anning took a bite of an egg tart.

Wen Yi looked at her, hesitating to say something.

Catching a glimpse of him out of the corner of her eye, Fang Anning raised an eyebrow and asked, "Does Mr. Wen have anything else?"

"Madam, there’s something I would like to ask of you," Wen Yi said.

Fang Anning replied humorously, "What could you possibly ask of me? I have no power at all in this household, I can’t help you with anything."

"You’re joking, Madam. The president cares about you, so you have unlimited power," flattered Wen Yi.

Fang Anning smiled, "Mr. Wen, no more jokes, but go ahead! Whatever I can help with, I will."

"It’s nothing too serious, but it’s about Mrs. Liao sending you to the Women’s Virtue Academy last time, which angered Mr. He. Mrs. Liao has contacted him several times, but Mr. He refuses to meet her. Mrs. Liao’s birthday is coming soon, and the old master is also very troubled by this and thinks of using this opportunity to reconcile them. I’ve asked Mr. He multiple times about preparing a birthday gift for Mrs. Liao, but he hasn’t committed to an answer, and now I’m not sure if Mr. He will attend Mrs. Liao’s birthday party. If Mr. He doesn’t attend, it will sadden the old master."

"So, you want me to help, to persuade He Tingchen?" Fang Anning asked.

Wen Yi nodded, "The only person I can think of who might help is you, Madam. I’m earnestly asking for your assistance to persuade Mr. He to reconcile with Mrs. Liao. The old master would be grateful if he knew."

"I’ll try, but I can’t guarantee I can persuade him. You’ve been with him for many years, you should know his temperament and character well. If he is set in his ways, it’s hard for others to change his mind," Fang Anning said.

Wen Yi replied, "I know that, but I think since Mr. He adores you so much, he will consider your opinion."

"Adores me? He cares only because of the child in my womb, don’t forget, he almost threw me into the sea before," Fang Anning said.

Wen Yi quickly said, "How could that be possible, that was just Mr. He trying to scare you..."

"Scare me?" Fang Anning raised her eyebrows.

Wen Yi realized he misspoke and immediately shut his mouth, trying to cover it up with an awkward smile.

Fang Anning sternly said, "Mr. Wen, I don’t mind helping you, but you must tell me the truth. Last time, did he really try to drown me in the sea, or was he just trying to scare me? If you’re not willing to tell me the truth, then I can’t help you."

"Of course, he was just trying to scare you, ma’am." Seeing that he couldn’t hide the truth any longer, Wen Yi had to admit.

"Then, his previous wives—did all of them, like Qi Wenli, fake their deaths?" Fang Anning asked again.

Wen Yi responded with an embarrassed silence.

Fang Anning said, "If you are unwilling to tell me, I’m sorry, but I can’t help you."

"Ma’am, please don’t be like this. You just said that if I answer that one question for you, it would be fine. How come you’re upping the ante now?" Wen Yi complained in a low voice.

Fang Anning smiled and said, "Because the upper hand is in my possession. You are asking for my help, not the other way around."

Wen Yi sighed, thinking that this CEO’s wife was not someone easy to handle, no wonder even Mrs. Liao couldn’t outsmart her.

"Of course, they are not all alive; two of them did actually die, but they had their own illnesses. Otherwise, why would their family willingly marry them off?"

"What about Mu Yunxi’s cousin?" Fang Anning quickly asked.

"Which one? She ran away," Wen Yi answered.

"Ran away?" Fang Anning was surprised.

Wen Yi nodded, "That one didn’t have a good background, similar to you, ma’am—she was substituted in. However, she couldn’t resist Young Mr. Feng’s temptations and actually wanted to elope with Young Mr. Feng. Thus, after her affair was exposed, Mr. He deliberately let her escape, allowing her to steal a sum of money and flee. He purposefully had someone bring her out of the country; she probably won’t dare to come back for the rest of her life."

"He really spares no effort to smear his own name, but why is he doing this?" Fang Anning asked, puzzled.

Wen Yi lowered his head and said, "Ma’am, I’ve said what I can, and I really can’t say any more."

"I understand, I won’t make it difficult for you. Rest assured, when he comes back, I will talk to him. But I can’t guarantee that he will agree," Fang Anning said.

Wen Yi breathed a sigh of relief and quickly said, "Thank you for your help, ma’am. If you are willing to talk to him, I believe Mr. He will not refuse."

Fang Anning pursed her lips; she didn’t think she had that much influence.

However, knowing that He Tingchen’s previous wives were indeed not wronged or had any involvement with him, she felt relieved.

At the very least, she wouldn’t be killed by him for offending him.

But she grew even more curious as to why he would let himself carry such a burden of sin; this was not something a sane person would do.

In the evening, He Tingchen got off work and came home.

Fang Anning was waiting at the door early; when she saw him enter, she immediately smiled and reached out to take his coat.

However, He Tingchen didn’t hand over his coat, saying in a low voice, "It’s quite heavy; don’t hold it."

Fang Anning smiled and said, "It’s just a coat; I am not that fragile."

He Tingchen looked at her belly, his eyes revealing a hint of tenderness.

Fang Anning quickly grabbed his hand and placed it on her swelling belly, saying, "Today I felt it move inside; it felt like an egg rolling around in my belly. I called the doctor, and the doctor said it’s fetal movement, but the amplitude is too small to be obvious, yet I could feel it."

"Really?" He Tingchen’s face showed surprise.

However, he quickly removed his hand and said, "I haven’t washed my hands yet."
