Chapter 122: Chapter 92: Found a Treasure (Part 2)
Whether it’s for Ferrari’s training or for his own career.
But now, seeing Lawson’s reaction, even Fini was at a loss.
Wasn’t it you who brought this kid to our place for training back then? Why now, when the person is here, the results are out, and I’ve discovered something unusual, are you not paying any attention?
"Yes, I know I’m overstepping a bit, but with someone as talented as Qin, I think we should keep him. He could very well be the next Leclerc." Fini wanted to make one last attempt.
The originally indifferent Lawson was looking at Qin Miao’s training data. Because the data was lengthy, he was somewhat impatient, and due to a call from Fini, Lawson even had the urge to skip to the end to see Qin Miao’s final results after getting familiar with the car and track.
But hearing Fini’s words now, Lawson frowned, "Talented? The next Shire? What do you mean?"
Fini was also taken aback by Lawson’s question: "Didn’t you finish reading the faxed information I sent you?"
There was a moment of silence on the phone, followed by the sound of pages turning.
After about five or six seconds, Fini clearly heard Lawson’s breathing become heavier.
Waiting for a while without any response, Fini tentatively asked, "Mr. Lawson?"
"Fini."
"I’m here, Mr. Lawson."
"Can you confirm that the data on this fax you sent me is accurate?"
"Of course, unless there’s a malfunction in the car’s telemetry system, this data should be accurate."
There was a pause on the other side, and then Lawson said, "Don’t take any drastic actions; let things happen naturally. I’ll have the legal department draft a contract and head to the UK immediately. Also, once Qin leaves, have someone check if there’s an issue with his car’s telemetry system."
After saying this, Lawson hung up the phone. It’s easy to guess that he was heading to catch a flight.
Looking at the disconnected phone, Fini also felt relieved.
But he knew Lawson needed a definite answer from him before boarding the plane, so he picked up the phone again to assign tasks to his staff.
...
On the other side, Qin Miao had no idea that the flying lap he had pushed himself to achieve on the track had caused so much commotion.
Today’s training was over, and it was quite fruitful. Most notably, his proficiency with the Silverstone track had reached 50 points.
As Qin Miao learned more about racing and the industry, he realized that this skill was indeed a divine talent in a real sense.
Because this skill saved him countless time and favors.
Normally, a driver learns about a track in many ways: walking the track, measuring the length with their feet, feeling the asphalt conditions, visually assessing the paint materials of each corner curb, the shape and elevation of the curbs.
But that can only be considered a preliminary understanding of the track. Then they have to watch onboard videos of expert laps, ask frequently competing drivers about time-saving paths or rough spots on the track.
This process is time-consuming, laborious, and may even invite disdain from others.
But with this skill, Qin Miao could bypass this time-consuming and tedious process, only needing to practice diligently, and the knowledge others accumulated through time and experience naturally flowed into his mind.
If other drivers knew about Qin Miao’s ability, they would certainly be enviously splitting with jealousy.
Qin Miao and Zhou Guanyu, having automatically skipped their afternoon physical training, had already consumed physical stamina beyond their usual training during time on the track.
"Old Zhou, honestly tell me, could you have achieved this result in F3?" Qin Miao began to show off in front of Zhou Guanyu as soon as he knew he had done well.
At this moment, he was waving this telemetry chart in front of Zhou Guanyu, occasionally shaking the chart to make a rustling sound.
"Enough already!" Zhou Guanyu’s face didn’t look good: "I was still young when I was in F3. Now, give me an F3 car, and once I get used to it, it’s not like I can’t achieve your result."
Qin Miao looked at Qimeng beside him, "Look, stubborn."
Qimeng, showing support, nodded emphatically.
"You get a bit of success and think you’re the best, huh? Cut the crap, let’s see tonight on the simulator, I’ll show you who’s the boss." Zhou Guanyu got increasingly worked up.
But to his surprise, Qin Miao grinned widely, "No contest."
Then he joyfully waved the telemetry chart in his hand and said, "Anyway, you never achieved this result in F3. I’m just faster than you, hahaha..."
Seeing Qin Miao’s smug face, Zhou Guanyu couldn’t hold back any longer and approached Qin Miao with his helmet bag.
Qin Miao’s reaction was fast too. Seeing things turn sour, he made a run for it.
"Get back here, you cheeky brat, let me add some Buff to you!" Zhou Guanyu immediately chased after him with his helmet.
Despite running for his life, Qin Miao wouldn’t stop teasing, waving his slightly crumpled telemetry chart while shouting, "Once I find a place to settle here, I’ll frame this up and hang it by my bedside, look at it every night before sleeping, I could admire it for half a lifetime."
Zhou Guanyu stayed silent but picked up his pace in pursuit.
Although Zhou Guanyu was carrying the weight of a helmet, his physical exhaustion today wasn’t as much as Qin Miao’s.
Three minutes later, Zhou Guanyu caught the already panting, exhausted Qin Miao in a corner near the parking lot entrance.
After capturing him, Zhou Guanyu didn’t go too hard since Qin Miao immediately surrendered once caught.
"Brother! I’m wrong! Forgive me this once, won’t dare next time!"
Seeing Qin Miao’s sincere apology, in the end, Zhou Guanyu just vented by kicking Qin Miao twice on the butt.
And confiscated the telemetry data chart in Qin Miao’s hand.
After some horseplay, the three returned to Zhou Guanyu’s house. Zhou Guanyu’s work was done for the day, leaving them free time to relax.
Actually, Qin Miao hadn’t given much thought to what specifically to do tonight, probably just accompanying Qimeng to watch the scenery from Zhou Guanyu’s balcony.
But upon returning home, Qin Miao found there were quite a few extra boxes in Zhou Guanyu’s place.
The bond between men is such that two days ago they were mere acquaintances nodding in passing, but after an overnight hangout and shared interests, their relationship quickly warmed up through some banter and camaraderie.
Qin Miao, without reservation, curiously asked as he approached, "What’s all this?"
Zhou Guanyu began unboxing the deliveries with a utility knife. Hearing Qin Miao’s question, he replied, "New simulator and computer."
"Prepared for me?" Qin Miao speculated.
Zhou Guanyu rolled his eyes, "Prepared for me, you’ll use the old set."
"Do you have to treat me like an outsider?" Qin Miao cheerfully moved closer to Zhou Guanyu, "I’ve set up many computers before, I’m quite familiar with this, let me help."
Knowing exactly what Qin Miao was getting at, Zhou Guanyu didn’t even bother exposing him. Shaking his head, he continued with his own work.
With Qin Miao’s assistance, they had both setups ready before dinner.
To be precise, there were two computers and one set of racing simulators.
Fortunately, Zhou Guanyu’s house was spacious; after rearranging the original simulator a bit, there was enough space for the new setup.
After setting it up, they did a simple test, then ordered takeaway for dinner, and didn’t venture out for the evening.
Qin Miao even forgot about the earlier plan to watch the scenery with Qimeng on the balcony, excitedly dragging Zhou Guanyu to play the two-player mode of "F12019" on the simulators.
