High School of Demon Hunting -
Chapter 1644 - 388 - : Parasite
Chapter 1644: 388 Chapter: Parasite
Although Mist Captain praised Great Witch Demon Sujade’s prisoner revolt as ’brilliant’ in front of Ulrich, every demon on the ship, including every venomous snake on the figurehead of the female demon, knew that it was merely a formality.
The demons did not expect a group of starved, magic-depleted prisoners to overturn the Wizards’ rule in the Black Prison World and break the Wizards’ most fortified castles in the Black Prison World.
The Wizards did not think that the long-planned attack by the demons outside the Black Prison would turn into mere prisoner riots.
"Just this? Just this?!"
Duke Milton stood behind the city wall of the Black Prison’s highest tower, surveying the hundreds of pillars newly erected on the Hell Equation, watching the crimson lights from the Eye of Sauron atop the pillars fall on the magical shield of the outer castle, a thick confusion in his tone:
"They can’t even scratch the oily surface of the outer castle... What exactly does Mist want?"
"Never underestimate your opponent." William Tabbot cast a serious glance at the Vampire Duke, seemingly advising but also reminding: "A dam falls from tiny cracks. Often the least conspicuous enemy is the most dangerous."
Milton tilted his head to glance at Mister Wolfman.
"So," the Vampire’s mouth curved in disdain, revealing a pair of mocking little fangs, and he retorted: "Are you inconspicuous or not dangerous?"
Mister Wolfman was furious, blackened his face and turned his head, unwilling to see the smug expression of someone who had verbally prevailed.
Milton smiled at Su Shijun, wanting to flaunt his recent victory in front of the witch like a peacock showing its feathers.
But the witch seemed completely oblivious to the verbal spat behind her.
She gazed upwards, looking at the overlapping black clouds outside the magical shield, her fox ears twitching slightly with the dull thunder behind the clouds, her fluffy but stiff fox tail erect like four dusters.
"Is there a problem?" William Tabbot, aware of his relatively weak magic power among the Upper House Members, paid close attention to the attitudes of the Big Wizards.
Now seeing Su Shijun, Gongsun Bing, and Silent Souls all looking skyward, his heart immediately sank.
"No." The witch frowned slightly, shaking her head but not specifying what was wrong.
William turned to look at Silent Souls.
The leader of the Ghost Tribe’s silver eyes shone brightly in the dark, withdrawing his gaze upon noticing Mister Wolfman’s look, he pointed outside the city walls with a soft smile: "Outside is too chaotic."
Then he raised his hand again to point at the sky: "Outside is too chaotic."
Although the ’outsides’ he mentioned were not the same place and the ’chaos’ was not the same kind, William was surprised to find that he could entirely understand the unspoken meaning of Silent Souls.
"So, you think the demons want to take advantage of the chaos?" He looked at the prisoners swarming to their deaths outside the city walls, then twitched his ears, listening to the persistent thunder behind the clouds, and mused: "’Colors blind the eyes, sounds deafen the ears’—are the demons trying to confuse our vision and impede our judgment?"
At this point, the werewolf shook his head dismissively.
"They underestimate the old Wizards at the school too much."
Facing the Wizards of First University, he needed to show his ferocity as a werewolf, but as a Upper House Member of the Moon Council, he had to show enough respect, making his attitude somewhat contradictory:
"As they say, ’Old but not dead is a thief,’ there’s no way methods I can see through are overlooked by those old thieves. As they say, ’Galloping on the hunt drives the heart mad,’ maybe the old guys plan to exhaust the demons’ spirit by indulging them."
"It’s not that they can’t see through it, but that we can’t see through it. From beginning to now, our actions have been too conservative."
Silent Souls hung at the edge of the city walls, overlooking the dazzling lights outside the castle, and softly said: "Allowing prisoners to assemble, permitting the Crystal Wall outside the Black Prison to shatter, without any spontaneous counterattack... this tactic has become unnaturally conservative... just as we cannot foresee how Mist will break the Black Prison, we equally cannot foresee how the school plans to deal with the invaders."
...
...
Just as confused as the members of the Moon Council were several great demons outside the castle.
While Mist Captain extolled the prelude played by the demons in the Black Prison to Ulrich, Silent Souls and William Tabbot discussed the methods of the school’s elder wizards.
Inside the Black Prison.
Great Witch Demon Sujade was also looking up, carefully examining the white spots eroded in the heavy black clouds overhead, watching as black ’shells’ slowly squeezed out from the white spots and descended one by one from the sky, like blackheads emerging.
Those ’shells’ burst open mid-air—like Mousewives that had curled into balls—then roared in a language no one could understand, swarming towards the Black Prison Castle.
Their jet-black ring-shaped shells on their backs were highly resistant to curses, and their fierce mouthparts and claws could easily tear apart the Wizards’ magical shields. It didn’t take long for several Wizard Hunting Teams deep within the Hell Equation to flee in panic under these creatures’ attacks.
Disregarding the color of their eyes.
Relying solely on their aura, Sujade could easily determine that these creatures were not demons but some insect beasts parasitizing the giant beasts wandering the Star Sea.
These insect beasts fed on the star remains or civilization ruins left by giant beasts during hunts, primarily responsible for grooming the giant beasts, managing their magic, and occasionally serving as vanguards or fodder during hunts.
They call themselves servants and followers of the giant beasts.
But Wizards have always referred to them as ’parasites.’
At this moment, these parasites were doing the same thing as the demons.
The red glow in Sujade’s eye sockets flickered unstably because he sensed an unusual aura on those ’shells.’
Until now, he had always believed that only demons were attacking the Black Prison.
Because the Xuanhuang Fruit could purify the bloodline of demons, aiding Wizards to break the shackles of tier, but for the giant beasts roaming the Star Sea, consuming a couple of stars was just as effective and safer than eating the fruit.
Thus, Sujade had not anticipated receiving such a batch of helpers.
But when he turned his gaze in another direction, he felt this matter made complete sense.
"A disastrous world."
Great Witch Demon raised his arm, bent his fingers, and tapped his smooth skull with a ’Dong Dong,’ as if it were a wooden fish monks strike while chanting in temples.
On the left, Eris morphed into a jade spider perched atop another skull; and on the right, the fleshy tentacle clung to the forehead of the Death Knight’s mount simultaneously looked at the Great Witch Demon knocking on his skull.
"Behemoth is here, naturally its siblings will come too."
Sujade’s hoarse voice sounded a bit irritated:
"I’m just pondering how many similar details I’ve overlooked... We cannot stay here any longer; this world will drain the last drop of our brain juice."
