Chapter 60: I’m really no different from an insect in this world...

Wukong reappeared behind him, the staff reduced to the size of a simple club. He turned quickly, but Wukong struck him squarely in the chest, sending Qing Long tumbling several meters away.

"You’re doing your best, huh? But you’re slow. Even with your lineage, is this the most powerful of the younger generation? What a joke!"

Qing Long spat blood. But he didn’t let anger consume him.

He analyzed.

Wukong was fast. Very fast. But he followed a rhythm. A natural arrogance drove him to play with his opponent. He wasn’t seeking a quick kill; he wanted to dominate, to humiliate.

Qing Long closed his eyes for a moment.

*Inhale*

When he reopened them, the world seemed to slow down.

Wukong leaped.

Qing Long moved at just the right moment. He dodged by mere millimeters, just enough to feel the wind of the staff brush against his skin. Then he pivoted, his claws tearing through the air.

Wukong’s eyes widened.

A gash appeared on his shoulder.

Silence reigned for a second.

Then Wukong burst into laughter.

*Hahahaha*

"Not bad! Really not bad!" He ran a hand over his wound, seemingly unconcerned. "A dragon’s claw, huh!? But you’re still far from the level of a sage."

The staff retracted, returning to its original size.

He lightly hopped in place, then cracked his neck.

*Swosh*

Qing Long saw the strike, but his body didn’t react in time.

The impact was crushing.

His back hit the ground with unimaginable force. He growled, trying to get up, but Wukong was already on him, one hand on his chest, his staff pointed at his throat.

"Game over," Wukong whispered with a smug smile.

BaiShe collapsed to one knee, a metallic taste flooding his mouth before a stream of blood spilled from his lips. His entire body trembled under the weight of his accumulated injuries. His tattered clothes hung miserably on his bruised skin, and every breath was torture, as if invisible blades were slicing through his lungs.

Hu Zhen, standing a few steps away, clenched his fists, a look of concern in his eyes. He knew there was nothing he could do against such power. He wasn’t a match, and BaiShe, despite all his talent, was just a Nascent Soul facing someone who already mastered a law.

BaiShe spat a mixture of blood and saliva onto the scorched ground, his breath ragged. His body screamed in pain, but it was nothing compared to what he felt inside.

"Damn..." His voice was hoarse, broken by the effort. "I shouldn’t have tried to use Illuminated Constitution..."

His soul hadn’t fully assimilated this law, and he had forced its awakening. It was a power far too unstable, far too violent for his current state. He had felt the boundary between his mind and this Karmic force collapse, threatening to engulf him.

He ran a trembling hand over his bloodied face, his fingers lingering on his left eye, from which a trickle of scarlet liquid flowed. Illuminated Constitution didn’t forgive recklessness. Worse, he felt that by pushing too far, he risked losing something far more precious than his life—his own identity. The surge of anger he didn’t fully understand was proof of that.

He grimaced, placing a hand on the ground to steady himself. His heart pounded furiously.

’The best thing to do is to give up...’

He had never been one to flee, resentful and too proud to bow, but he had to be realistic. Yuying hadn’t tried to kill him, only to stop him from achieving his goal. If he continued, he risked an unnecessary death.

’I’ll patiently wait for my revenge.’

He slightly raised his head and, in a hoarse voice, whispered:

"Okay... I give up—"

But before the words fully left his lips, a blinding pain exploded in his skull.

*Aaaarrhhh*

"Young master!?"

His vision blurred instantly, and he brought his hands to his head, groaning. An invisible pressure seemed to crush his skull. He heard a deafening buzzing, followed by a sinister sound.

A tear of blood rolled down his glowing left eye.

His body convulsed violently.

Before him, a black vortex tore through space.

"What the...?"

Hu Zhen took a step back, feeling a terrifying energy emanating from this dimensional rift. Yuying, on the other hand, narrowed her eyes, staying alert.

A figure slowly emerged, as if she had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

A woman.

An amused smile stretched her lips as she observed BaiShe with a piercing gaze.

"You’re quite interesting, BaiShe of the Ancestral Hu family~"

Hu Zhen instantly paled.

"Xuan Daiyu..."

BaiShe, still on the brink of unconsciousness, painfully raised his eyes to her. His mind was foggy.

"Who?"

"Just call me Daiyu," she said, tilting her head slightly, a mysterious smile on her face.

BaiShe felt a chill run down his spine.

"How...?"

’How long has she been here? Has she been following me all this time? Damn, she’s going to kill me.’

A sudden thought flashed through his mind.

"Damn... She knows..."

His pupil had activated on its own, and he had even created a portal, an ability he didn’t know he possessed.

He felt a cold sweat run down his back. If she knew what he had done, if she knew he had gotten his hands on a part of her brother’s power...

Daiyu knelt slightly to be at his height, her gaze sparkling with curiosity.

"We’ll talk about it later."

He tried to respond, but his body no longer obeyed.

His vision darkened at an alarming speed.

He saw just before fading the verdant glow emanating from Daiyu. She slowly raised a hand, and an energy barrier blossomed around them.

A shimmering dome, of pure and vibrant green, enveloped them just in time to absorb the energy blasts unleashed by Yuying.

BaiShe didn’t have time to admire the feat.

A golden light completely engulfed him.

His last thought was bitter.

’I’m really no different from an insect in this world...’

Qing Long fixed the monkey straight in the eyes and quickly pulled out a talisman that transported him several meters away.

"You’re running away? And you’re a coward too."

Purple lightning exploded around Sun Wukong, illuminating his body with a supernatural glow. The air crackled under the intensity of his energy, each spark slightly distorting the space around him. His smile widened as he glared at Qing Long with an amused, almost condescending look.

"True power..." His voice resonated, deep and vibrant. "In the face of my law, Distortion, you have no chance."
