Heroines, I'm Really not the Devourer -
Chapter 46: Kang Feng vs Ling’er
Chapter 46: Kang Feng vs Ling’er
Qinling’s expression was one of disgust. Just from her face, Kang Feng knew she’d seen right through him.
That pig was thinking something obscene—it was obvious to her.
As if the situation wasn’t irritating enough... She’d crossed this infernal desert, braved storms and voracious creatures, and for what? To find out this wretch had already gotten his hands on the Soul Peaches. Unacceptable.
"You’d better hand them over, Kang."
"I’ve already used them," he replied with a smirk, his eyes gleaming provocatively. "But... I could make an exception for Lady Qinling ~"
His tone, his gaze... everything about him oozed arrogance and perversion.
"You—"
[Ling’er, it would be wise not to provoke them. I couldn’t protect you.]
Her brother’s voice echoed in her mind, calm and grave.
Qinling clenched her teeth. She knew. A clash between young talents was one thing, but if it escalated, with someone else interfering, a hidden expert from the Feng Family might step in. That could lead to a conflict between two ancestral lineages that had so far maintained relatively peaceful, even amicable, relations.
She closed her eyes for a second, swallowing her anger. She needed another approach.
"What do you want?" Her voice was cold, cutting. "I have some rank 7 monster corpses."
Kang Feng aspired to become the sect’s heir, but the Imperial Prince was the favorite. Providing him with these corpses could give him a significant advantage. And she didn’t care about that position anyway.
"Oh~ Rank 7 monsters?" His smirk widened, amused. "Tempting. But you see, I have absolute confidence in my own strength against Qing Long... So, don’t you have something else to offer?"
Qinling felt a shiver of annoyance crawl down her spine. That bastard. He was enjoying pushing her buttons. She took a deep breath to contain her irritation, but her gaze darkened.
"I really like your temperament, Miss Qinling. How about we discuss this in more detail inside? Get to know each other better ~"
He gestured theatrically toward his tent, bowing slightly with fake courtesy.
Qinling’s veins pulsed at her temples.
"You DARE!"
Her aura exploded violently, whipping up a sandstorm around her. Kang smirked faintly.
*Finally...*
Without hesitation, he lunged at her.
Qinling moved too. Her body blurred almost instantly, her silhouette warping as if space itself contracted around her. In a fraction of a second, she was in front of Kang, her sword slashing the air with lethal precision.
*Void Dance*
A wave of silver Qi exploded from her blade as she struck, tearing through the air with terrifying violence. Kang barely dodged, a trail of flames erupting beneath his feet as he pivoted to avoid the blow. But the shockwave hit the ground behind him, whipping up a sandstorm and carving a deep gash into the earth.
"Fast," he murmured, raising his spear.
Qinling didn’t give him time to breathe. She leaped again, her sword whistling, slicing the air with relentless fluidity. Every movement was precise, calculated, like a deadly dance. Kang parried the first strike with his spear, but a second blow immediately slammed into his flank. A wave of Qi exploded, sending him flying several meters.
He rolled on the scorching sand, a grimace on his lips, before jamming his spear into the ground to stop himself. He looked up, and Qinling was already on him.
She swung her sword in a perfect arc. A crescent of shimmering Qi surged toward him, cutting straight through the sand and carving a smoking trench.
Kang stomped his foot, a tide of flames erupting from his body as he raised his spear.
A wall of fire rose just before impact, absorbing the energy wave. But the force of the attack pushed him back several steps, his feet leaving scorched marks on the charred ground.
A predatory grin stretched across his lips. His gaze turned wild.
With a fluid motion, he spun and hurled his spear forward.
The spear transformed into a fiery bird, a blazing silhouette roaring through the air toward Qinling.
She clenched her teeth, contracted her Qi, and in a flash, her body vanished again. The next instant, she reappeared right above Kang, her sword glowing with crackling energy.
A storm of Qi blades erupted from her weapon, crashing down on Kang like a meteor shower.
He crossed his arms, a massive explosion of flames enveloping him for protection. But barely had he absorbed the attack when a brutal blow slammed into his abdomen.
A dull thud echoed.
Kang felt all the air leave his lungs as he was hurled backward like a cannonball. He crashed violently into the ground, creating a crater upon impact.
He coughed, spitting blood.
"Damn..." He wiped the crimson liquid from his lips, his gaze turning fiercer. His blood boiled.
He slowly raised his head and glared furiously at Qinling, who was eyeing him with indifference.
"Attack her."
His voice, though raspy, carried authority.
The five guards behind him immediately drew their spears and lunged at her without hesitation. Qinling narrowed her eyes.
They were obviously no match for her, but they could waste her time.
She barely moved, but in an instant, her sword traced a circular arc.
A wave of Qi exploded from her blade, hurling the soldiers back like leaves in a hurricane. But Kang seized the diversion.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
A murmur rose in the air, accompanied by a deep rumble.
"In the rivers of time, you persist... Incarnation of eternal rebirth... Death in the right hand and life in the left... The Vermillion Bird of Samsara."
Qinling felt an immediate shift in the atmosphere.
The ground cracked beneath Kang. His blood began to boil, igniting like magma. His red hair flared, transforming into a mane of pure fire.
The sand beneath his feet liquefied into a river of lava.
Then, with a roar, two immense wings of flames burst from his back, illuminating the entire desert with a burning radiance.
This was the greatest difference between the ancestral lineages and ordinary humans: drawing upon their lineage to transcend their limits.
*"Phoenixfication."*
A fiery symbol appeared on his chest, pulsing with destructive energy.
Kang slowly raised his head.
A slow, cruel smile stretched across his lips.
Then, with a flap of his wings, he soared into the skies.
Qinling didn’t move. Her gaze remained cold, unperturbed.
The sky was tinged with an incandescent red, illuminated by Kang Feng’s overwhelming aura. Suspended in the air, he dominated the battlefield, his flaming wings beating with majesty. His sacred lance, now bathed in celestial fire, glowed with an orange hue, projecting suffocating heat with every movement.
Then, his soul exploded.
The shockwave struck the atmosphere, lifting waves of burning sand. The ground trembled under the power of the Seven-Star Nascent Soul.
With a fluid motion, Kang pointed his lance at Qinling.
The desert transformed into a hell of destruction. Countless flaming meteorites shot from the sky, crashing like rivers of lava. Each one left a burning trail in its wake, reducing everything it touched to ashes.
Simultaneously, his five soldiers charged at Qinling, lances in hand, their faces devoid of hesitation.
Qinling clenched her teeth.
"You coward. You have no honor!"
