Chapter 94: Side Story: Elira Happiness

Despite the sudden summons from her son Ignatius, several days had passed before Elira received a letter from the nanny she had assigned to him.

The letter contained surprising news—Ignatius had brought home a lover with whom he intended to marry.

Even more astonishing was that this lover was already expecting a child.

"Husband! Oh, looked at this, what wonderful news!"

Elira excitedly relayed the message to her husband, who, with a relieved smile, simply responded, "Ah, indeed."

Among the Dragon Man, birth rates were notoriously low.

Elira herself had met her husband through an arranged marriage, and before love or romance, their priority had been conceiving a child.

Fortunately, she had been able to carry Ignatius.

She felt reassured.

In time, she had come to cherish the deep love her husband held for her, and she had learned to love him as well.

If she had been unable to conceive, it would have been a tragedy beyond words.

The letter also described Ignatius’s partner.

His name was Sheng Xinghui—a human with an exceptionally high-level special skill called the God of Pregnancy and Fertility’s Blessing.

Elira had heard rumors of such a skill, but she had never imagined it truly existed.

She was equally astonished to learn that, due to this skill’s potency, the child would be born in just seven days.

Additionally, Sheng Xinghui was a someone from another world—a world where men did not bear children.

If that was the case, he must have been experiencing immense fear and uncertainty.

Even as a woman, Elira had been bewildered by the changes pregnancy had brought to her body.

"Husband, do you think we could meet him?"

She knew it was a bold request, but her husband gave her a firm nod.

Elira was overjoyed.

Despite his fears, Sheng Xinghui had chosen to love Ignatius and make the courageous decision to bring their child into the world.

A child born from such affection—what could be more beautiful?

When she finally met Sheng Xinghui, she was struck by his delicate appearance.

He did not look like someone capable of such a resolute decision.

His hands trembled as he stood before them, his round belly betraying his fragile form.

His complexion was pale, as if he might faint at any moment, and his eyes shimmered with unshed tears.

He looked at them anxiously, as though he was burdened by guilt.

Elira took a step forward and grasped his quivering hand.

Why should he feel anxious?

What reason was there for doubt?

He had taken Ignatius’s hand, and now he was offering them the greatest of gifts.

There was nothing to regret—only joy to be shared.

Later, Elira learned that Sheng Xinghui was an incredibly conscientious person.

He had been distressed over the fact that he had conceived before formally greeting Ignatius’s parents.

How proper. How adorable.

Elira quickly came to understand him.

Although Sheng Xinghui was gentle and soft-spoken, he were also serious and strong.

Despite his obvious fears, he had already come to terms with the reality of giving birth.

"You have chosen a wonderful spouse," Elira said warmly.

"Yes, indeed," her husband agreed.

"Oh, Ignatius," she chuckled, watching her son hover protectively around Sheng Xinghui. "To think our son still had such an endearing side to him."

Elira smiled as she observed this unexpected, tender side of her now fully grown son.

As Elira approached, she held out the newborn baby to Ignatius, who stood frozen, unsure of how to hold the tiny life placed before him.

His hands fluttered awkwardly, hesitating.

With a gentle laugh, she guided his arms into position and carefully placed the child in them.

As he gazed down at the baby, tears welled up—not of fear, but of something deeper, something more profound.

"It’s... scary," he murmured. "So soft, so fragile... like it could break at any moment."

"That’s why you must protect them," Elira replied.

Looking down at the child smiling in his arms, Ignatius’s eyes softened, and for the first time, he truly looked like a father.

Thirteen years had passed since that day when little Kaelion was born, and now, Elira had three grandchildren.

To her delight, Sheng Xinghui’s special skill had been inherited by their children.

It was a hopeful sign—perhaps these children would be the key to the Dragon Man’s future.

Just imagining their growth and what they might achieve filled her with anticipation.

Currently, she and her husband were staying at Ignatius’s estate, helping care for their grandchildren.

Sheng Xinghui was expecting their fourth child.

Over the years, Sheng Xinghui’s skill had grown even stronger with experience, particularly in matters of childbirth.

What once had been a painful ordeal had now become far easier.

Three hours had passed since the contractions began, and it had been thirty minutes since Sheng Xinghui entered the birthing room when the door to the waiting area opened.

Layla stepped inside, cradling a tiny bundle in her arms.

"It’s a girl," she announced warmly.

The newborn’s round cheeks were soft and plump, her features resembling Sheng Xinghui’s in a way that made Elira’s heart swell with affection.

The other children gathered around, their little hands reaching out to touch their new sibling with gentle curiosity.

Ignatius soon entered the room as well, his face filled with relief as he gave a small nod.

"And Sheng Xinghui?" Elira asked.

"He’s doing well, Mother," Ignatius reassured her. "There wasn’t much blood loss, and the healers have already tended to him. He even finished nursing the baby and decided to rest for a while."

"I see... Truly, he is remarkable."

A nanny had been assigned to assist for the day, so there was no need to worry about Sheng Xinghui’s care.

Ignatius, now accustomed to fatherhood, lifted the newborn with practiced ease.

He gently intertwined his finger with her tiny hand, watching as she grasped it instinctively.

"Have you chosen a name yet?" Elira asked.

"Yes," Ignatius replied. "We’ve decided to call her Nyx."

"Nyx... What a beautiful name," Elira murmured, gazing at the infant with warmth.

Looking at her ever-growing family, she felt an overwhelming sense of happiness.

In the Dragon Man race, few people were ever blessed with so many grandchildren.

She and her husband were among the fortunate ones, and it was all thanks to Sheng Xinghui—the person who loved Ignatius so dearly.

"But Ignatius," Elira added, her tone carrying a note of gentle admonition, "you mustn’t place too much burden on Sheng Xinghui."

At her words, Ignatius’s face turned red.

Although he gave a firm nod in acknowledgment, Elira had a feeling he’d soon forget.

Even so, knowing that her son and his beloved partner shared such a deep bond was all the reassurance she needed.

For Elira, there was no greater joy than seeing their love endure for years to come.
