Chapter 76: A Love Not Forced

That was why he had been so subdued all this time.

That was why he had been so troubled.

It must be a complicated skill, something he didn’t know how to handle.

As someone from another world, there were bound to be things that confused him.

But Ignatius had completely miscalculated.

The reason Shen Xinghui had kept this from him was something else entirely—something far more profound.

"The skill I have is... ’God of Pregnancy and Fertility’s Blessing Lv. 100.’"

Shen Xinghui’s quiet declaration stole the breath from Ignatius’s lungs.

He swallowed his saliva hard, his body tensing.

That was the skill he had waited for his entire life.

Of course, he was familiar with the existence of the "God of Pregnancy and Fertility’s Blessing" skill.

There had been rare cases in the past of people possessing it.

However, even among those, only a handful had ever successfully given birth to a Dragon Man child.

A skill level of at least 50 was considered necessary.

And Shen Xinghui’s was at level 100.

If he took the special birth pill and consummated their union, he would, without a doubt, bear Ignatius’s child.

Ignatius could feel the dark desire welling up inside him.

To have the one he loved bear his child. To stay by his side through it all—not just during that time, but forever.

To make him his, and his alone.

His heart pounded so loudly it was deafening, each heavy beat reverberating through his entire body.

Was he trembling from the force of it? His throat felt dry.

The sheer depth of his own greed threatened to consume him.

"I... I think I can have your child, Ignatius."

"Shen Xinghui..."

"I don’t have any experience, but with a skill level this high... So..."

Shen Xinghui spoke in a desperate rush, his anxious eyes flickering with uncertainty.

His entire body trembled.

And finally, Ignatius forced himself to push his own desires away.

Shen Xinghui was afraid.

Of course he was.

He had come from a world where neither same-sex relationships nor pregnancy were conceivable realities.

To him, this skill must have been terrifying.

That was why he hadn’t spoken of it—because he couldn’t accept it himself.

Because it was something he couldn’t even bring himself to share.

At the same time, he had known how much Ignatius had longed for this skill.

From the very beginning, Ignatius had told him about the Dragon Man’s struggle to reproduce.

About his own desperation.

This was why Shen Xinghui had looked at him with such pained eyes.

Ignatius wanted him.

But not like this.

He didn’t want Shen Xinghui to have to force himself, to put on such a desperate, determined expression just to say these words.

Please, he silently pleaded.

Don’t say anything more.

"So... would you let me take the birth pill and make me yours?"

The invitation was like a trap, luring him in.

His body burned with desire, yet his heart screamed in protest.

It would be so simple.

With Shen Xinghui’s skill level, he would undoubtedly conceive Ignatius’s child.

But if he did that—if he gave in—he would lose Shen Xinghui forever.

He would never truly have his heart.

Ignatius could see it clearly now, from the look in Shen Xinghui’s eyes, from the way he carried himself.

Shen Xinghui felt indebted to him.

He had from the very beginning.

Every word of gratitude, every apology—it had always been there.

He had tried to repay Ignatius through cooking, through taking care of him in small ways.

And now, he blamed himself for Ignatius’s injury.

He believed that carrying his child was a way to atone for it

But that wasn’t what Ignatius wanted.

That wasn’t it at all.

For the first time in his life, he had found someone he truly wanted.

Someone he yearned for—not out of duty, not out of obligation, but because he couldn’t imagine letting go.

For the first time, he had found someone he could never stop thinking about, someone he could never replace.

He loved Shen Xinghui.

And he wanted his heart.

They needed to build something real, something precious—slowly, carefully.

Desire could come later.

And the child... the child had to be born from love, not duty.

It was so simple.

So obvious.

And yet, only now did Ignatius truly understand.

Not as a prince’s responsibility.

But as the irreplaceable proof of love.

Yet, just as he reached that realization, Shen Xinghui stood on unsteady legs, trembling as he did the unthinkable—he began to undress.

"Shen Xinghui!"

There was no need for this.

No need for him to bare himself while shaking like a leaf.

Ignatius could not—would not—hold him like this.

Not when Shen Xinghui was forcing himself.

Not when it was driven by guilt.

Not when it threatened to unravel his already fraying restraint.

But Shen Xinghui didn’t stop.

Slowly, he revealed his porcelain-white skin, his delicate frame, inch by inch.

He stepped forward, closing the distance, then kneeled onto the bed, as if beckoning him.

His pale skin was tinged with a faint flush, his body radiating warmth.

A heady scent filled the air.

The unmistakable scent of arousal.

Ignatius clenched his fists.

He wanted to stay in control.

He wanted to treasure Shen Xinghui.

But his body—his instincts—mocked those thoughts, screaming at him to take what was offered.

To claim the trembling man before him.

"Please... hold me. I will bear your child, Ignatius."

Shen Xinghui forced a smile, but it was a failure—a brittle, painful attempt that carved deep into Ignatius’s heart.

What was he doing?

What had he forced someone so precious to say?

This wasn’t how those words should be spoken.

Not as a desperate plea.

Not with such anguish.

They should be whispered in happiness, woven into moments filled with love.

Ignatius pulled off the robe draped over his shoulders and wrapped it around Shen Xinghui’s trembling form, gently pushing him away.

He needed to remove this sight from his eyes—before the fire inside him burned beyond control.
