Ignatius’s voice rose in shock and panic.

He thought for sure Shen Xinghui would flinch back in fear—but instead, what met him were determined, unwavering eyes.

If he had taken the forest route, he could have avoided it, but that wasn’t an option—Shen Xinghui was with him.

He knew now—he simply hadn’t wanted to let go.

He understood that he shouldn’t interfere with Shen Xinghui’s future.

Depending on his skills, he could carve out a successful life for himself.

If he had a skill that required training, finding a good mentor would be in his best interest.

And yet, despite knowing all of this, a part of him didn’t want that outcome.

Ainzach grinned knowingly.
