Chapter 100: Side Story: Mama’s Gathering (Part 2)
However, it was Gabriel who cleared away all of Lysander’s misfortunes.
As a golden dragon, he was a being of happiness.
More importantly, Lysander’s Fortune Sharing skill wasn’t a one-way transfer—he could also receive happiness from others.
Realizing this, the two of them eventually married, and their son, Gavrius Aurelion Sol Drakonis, was born.
Now, they were living a happy life together.
Today was a Mama’s Gathering—though, ironically, not a single woman was present.
But in this otherworldly setting, every attendee was indeed a parent.
"Nikolai is here today, right?"
As they walked side by side, Lysander asked, and Shen Xinghui nodded.
"Is he okay? I heard he’s expecting his third child."
"He seems fine. He says he’s doing well."
Shen Xinghui smiled as he spoke.
Nikolai, the partner of Augustine, was a tall and handsome beastman of the fox tribe, with striking silver hair.
His sharp blue eyes were captivating as well.
At the moment, Nikolai was expecting their third child.
It had been a month since the pregnancy was confirmed, and things seemed to be going smoothly.
However, there had been some complications along the way.
"Hey, I heard Augustine got injured," Lysander said.
"Ah... yeah, so I heard," Shen Xinghui replied.
"He must’ve gone overboard again."
"Yeah."
It was a difficult topic to properly address.
According to what Shen Xinghui had heard, Augustine had been extremely persistent, practically forcing himself on Nikolai for two whole years.
That level of obsession was intense.
Feeling genuinely endangered by Augustine’s nightly advances, Nikolai had even fled to Shen Xinghui’s place for a time.
Shen Xinghui had managed to shelter him for a month, but in the end, when Augustine—looking like the final boss of some game—glared at him, he had been too terrified to move.
After all, his status was weak.
Even eight-year-old Vaelrik was stronger than him.
After a massive argument, Nikolai had managed to fend off Augustine (which was impressive in itself), and Shen Xinghui had taken on the role of mediator, calming and persuading him.
Eventually, Nikolai returned to Augustine, and through sheer perseverance, they finally conceived a child.
"Do you think those two actually love each other?" Lysander asked.
"Well... in their own way, I suppose," Shen Xinghui answered.
That was the best he could say.
However, when he had once asked Nikolai if he loved Augustine, there had been the faintest blush on his cheeks.
In a quiet voice, he had also murmured, "It’s not like I hate him."
"He was just overwhelmed by how persistent Augustine was," Shen Xinghui added.
"Come on, be honest," Lysander smirked.
"...Honestly? I think he was kind of scared and found it annoying."
"I like that about you," Lysander said with a broad grin.
At the table in the courtyard, Nikolai was seated.
Though he still wore his Green Dragon Army uniform, the front was left open.
His stomach wasn’t showing any signs of pregnancy yet, and he still maintained his well-toned physique.
"Hey, Nikolai!" Lysander called out.
"Lysander, it’s been a while. How’s Gavi doing?" Nikolai asked, standing up with a smile.
His gentle expression, combined with his naturally handsome features, made him look truly stunning.
There was no doubt—he was exceptionally attractive.
"He’s here with us. You should see him later; he’ll be happy," Lysander said.
"He must have grown adorably. Good thing he didn’t take after you," Nikolai teased.
"Come on, don’t say that. Yeah, yeah, he definitely looks like Gabriel," Lysander admitted.
Shen Xinghui agreed.
That soft, golden hair, those plump, fair cheeks, and those large, golden eyes—he was more beautiful than boyish.
Even Shen Xinghui’s son, Vaelrik, would sigh whenever he saw Gavi and say, "He’s so cute. A real angel."
"But more importantly, how are you feeling? You’re one month in, right? The morning sickness must be rough," Lysander asked as they continued their peculiar Mama’s Gathering.
The topic shifted to Nikolai’s pregnancy, but he didn’t seem to be struggling.
His complexion was good, and he appeared perfectly fine.
"I don’t get morning sickness," Nikolai replied. "I do watch my diet, but so far, I haven’t had any health issues."
"Wow, I’m jealous! I couldn’t eat for a whole month—I thought I was gonna die," Lysander groaned. "What about you, Xinghui?"
"Even when I get morning sickness, it’s over in a day," Shen Xinghui shrugged.
"Damn it, your special skill always make people jealous!"
"Lysander, aren’t you also have special skill?"
"My skill doesn’t make pregnancy any easier!"
Hearing Lysander’s frustrated complaint, Shen Xinghui and Nikolai burst into laughter.
"Well, humans giving birth to Dragon Man children is always going to be difficult," Nikolai said. "Xinghui has his skill, so he’s fine, but you must’ve had a rough time, Lysander."
"I thought I was gonna die. It hurt like hell, and the bleeding wouldn’t stop. If Gabriel hadn’t kept sharing his happiness with me and praying, I might not have made it."
"Yeah, I felt like I was dying during my first birth too. I had no idea how big human babies were, but mine was about 4,500 grams."
"That’s actually pretty small," Nikolai commented.
"Wait, what?!" Shen Xinghui and Lysander exclaimed in unison.
"Evander was close to 5,000 grams," Nikolai added casually.
"That big?!" Shen Xinghui asked, horrified.
"But it wasn’t that bad. Beastmen babies are naturally large, so our bodies are built to handle that. It was a bit bigger than usual, but I’m on the larger side too, so it wasn’t unbearable. For humans, I believe the average is around 3,000 grams, right?"
Shen Xinghui stared off into the distance, processing that information.
"Well, in that case, that’s good," Lysander said as he stood up from his chair.
He reached out and gently placed a hand on Nikolai’s still well-defined stomach, speaking in a warm, tender voice.
"May this child be born safely, without complications. And may both mother and child be healthy."
It was the activation phrase for Lysander’s skill, Fortune Sharing.
At that moment, the sand in the hourglass around his neck started flowing rapidly downward and vanished.
"Lysander, you don’t have to do that," Nikolai said. "You always end up suffering for it."
"I’m fine for now. Later, I’ll have Gabriel share a lot of happiness with me," Lysander reassured him.
The way to regain happiness—according to Lysander—was to fill his heart with the feeling of being truly loved and happy.
It was an important mindset, and it worked because Gabriel showered him with so much love.
"Still, I appreciate it, Lysander," Nikolai said.
"Don’t worry about it. This is nothing—"
Before he could finish his sentence, a ball came flying out of nowhere and struck the back of his head at full force.
Lysander lurched forward and smacked his face hard against the ground.
"Ahhh! I’m so sorry, Mr. Lysander!"
"Mother, I’m sorry!"
"Vaelrik! What do you think you’re doing?!"
The culprit came sprinting out of the bushes.
Shen Xinghui gave Vaelrik a firm knock on the head.
Vaelrik clutched his head but didn’t complain—he knew he was in the wrong.
Meanwhile, Gavi quickly running over to Lysander’s side.
"Is he okay?" Gavi asked, concerned.
"No, definitely not. He’s completely out cold. Xinghui, let’s carry him," Nikolai suggested.
"No! Nikolai, you can’t! Someone, help us!" Shen Xinghui called out.
One of the mansion’s attendants rushed over to assist.
Together, they carried Lysander inside while Shen Xinghui and Nikolai chuckled at the situation.
"He’s going to need an emergency happiness recharge," Nikolai remarked.
"Gabriel’s going to worry again," Shen Xinghui sighed.
"Let him worry. That’s part of happiness too."
Sure enough, Gabriel soon arrived in a panic, scooped Lysander up, and took him home.
Gavi, still full of energy, ended up staying over at the mansion for the night.
Later, Augustine came to pick up Nikolai.
Despite exchanging a few snarky comments, they held hands as they walked home together.
Different forms of love, all lively and full of warmth.
Watching it all, Shen Xinghui felt a little tempted to lean on Ignatius for comfort that day.
And so, another day came to an end.
