Chapter 182: Glaring at Snowflakes

Chapter 182: Glaring at Snowflakes

Evanna raised her hands to her face at the growing blush from what just happened between her and the elven Prince. She was so bold and confident in her plan, but she didn’t expect Arawn, who had always pushed the boundaries between them ever so slightly, to then go along with it. She should have known better.

Evanna clenched her lids shut; she could still feel the phantom touch of his strong arms around her waist, the leg in between her thighs and that hand, that hand that incited a carnal need to have more. That hand nearly disrobed her and made her fantasy come true. She groaned in frustration.

Her fantasy!?

Arawn seemed to appear out of nowhere, and then ..the hands and the touching and the.. Evanna glanced at the bed and shook her head, clearing her mind of what might have been to the present. She marched towards the chest of drawers at the other end of the tent.

Upon opening the first drawer, Evanna’s attire magically appeared before her eyes folded neatly and clean, and her boots settled on the side. She didn’t know how that worked, but she would invest in the forbidden item at some point. The Princess was sure Maggie would find it more convenient, though; her handmaiden might fear it more than anything. After all, magic was forbidden in Dunhurst.

Evanna began disrobing and started to change as her thoughts swiftly changed gears and spiralled out of control. One thing that stood out above her raging hormonal thoughts for the elf was that that elf knew exactly who she was. She paused putting her dagger in her boot.

What if he did all of that just now out of malice? The Crown Prince of the Flori woodland elves knew she was Princess Evanna Goodrich of Dunhurst. Evanna knew just how much the elves despised humans, and their kingdoms were not on the best of terms.

Evanna was also not some random noble who frequented the palace; she was royalty. She was part of the royal family who didn’t allow any elven object, discussion, or even the language Muranthian to be taught in the kingdom.

Evanna forcefully pushed the dagger into place and straightened up.

That wasn’t the worst part, though. Evanna stole from the Flori, from Prince Arawn, and she wasn’t a nobody. The Princess released a breath she didn’t realise she had been holding. This was a huge problem. The Flori could wage war against her kingdom. She couldn’t let that happen. This needed to be resolved; she could only hope that the relationship formed between them might help her case.

Evanna shook her head and glanced in the direction of where she suspected Arawn was still waiting for her. Setting her shoulders straight, the Princess searched deep inside of herself for the courage to face Arawn and shield herself against these ever-growing feelings.

While Evanna was psyching herself up to face Arawn, the Prince on the other side of the tent was standing motionlessly in a blizzard of his own making. He inhaled deeply and then opened his eyes. Snowflakes kissed his eyelashes and covered the top of his jacket.

His hair should be damp, but it remained straight and untouched. It was almost like his power knew to avoid his luscious locks. Releasing his breath, Arawn watched the small cloud of his breath grow and then evaporate. He unclenched his fists and felt his burning body begin to cool down.

Arawn glared at the array of snowflakes swirling around him. He was a beast. An uncontrollable beast that nearly took the Princess.. took Evanna TO BED. His groin ached with burning desire. He had remained calm while she was in the bath and kept his eyes on the luxurious objects in the tent. But then Evanna had to waltz out in nothing but a robe.

A robe that revealed so much, with her wet hair dripping on the thin material exposing her delightful-

Arawn created an icicle in his hand and dropped it down his shirt, hissing at the sudden cold, but he needed it. Evanna was too damned delicious, and he lost control, ready to claim her until she stopped him from going further. She had stared up at him with those doe-like ethereal green eyes, and he instantly felt a pang of guilt.

Arawn wanted to do things right by Evanna; he couldn’t scare her from being overly intimate with her. He would need to rein himself in. But he was getting ahead of himself; after seeing she was safe and feeling the soft touch of her skin, he became impulsive even by his thoughts.

They would speak away from the campsite and further into the woods, and Arawn hoped to settle everything between them. Evanna needed to open up to him so he could help her. Of course, the Prince knew Evanna could probably escape Prince Conrad and this small camp of men, but he didn’t want to lose her to whatever upcoming battle she had yet to fight. He knew there was a reason behind her actions, and he would get to the bottom of it.

Arawn pulled out the remaining melting icicle and threw it on the ground now that his thoughts had settled. Raising his eyes, he noted that his men were watching him and eating something as though they were entertained. He glared at them and looked away.

"*What do you think happened?*" Anwel asked quietly from the tree branch he was squatting on and continued to chew on berries. Garrett continued to watch their Prince and the small blizzard he created to encase himself in, then looked back at the others. His lips quirked up at their amused expressions.

It was a rarity for Arawn to expose his gift after his emotions were deemed wild. Garrett, along with the others, knew who the reason for the Prince to act in such a way was. They’d traipsed through the woods for her and watched silently for hours before the Prince made a move.

Princess Evanna.

"*It is unwise to gossip on the matters of what royals may or may not have done. Take note of these lessons, for they will serve you well in the future,*" Garrett replied instead, scolding the young elf even though he wore a smirk and a glitter of amusement in his own dark eyes. "*We must remain vigilant. We do not know how long the concoction will last.*"

They had been advised before that it would last at least three hours, but Garrett was not one to relax whether it was recommended or not. There was always somebody that it would not last long on. It was something to take note of if it is the case that it would wear off. His gaze flicked to the Demon Prince, where his large body was on the ground, a bottle still held in one hand. All of the northern humans were of a larger build than the ones from Dunhurst, and the elves were more on the slender side.

Garrett’s grip tightened on the hilt of his sword expecting the brutes to awaken sooner than expected. His attention, however, flicked back to the tent after the small snowstorm abruptly stopped, and Arawn flicked off the snow from his shoulders. The dark-haired beauty, Evanna, who they now knew was the Princess of Dunhurst, walked out of the tent in the attire they were accustomed to seeing her in from the first day they saw her in Direwood forest. Her swords were sheathed behind her back, and she looked just as deadly as she did stunning.

Garrett cleared his throat.

"*She is quite the beauty, is she not Garrett?*" Anwel whispered and peeked up at the elf who stood tall and mighty on the branch, his bulging biceps taut from where his arms were now crossed against his chest. He looked down at the elf and clipped the back of his head.

"*If his highness hears you, your eyes will be removed from your head.*" He clicked his tongue. "*Beautiful or not, the Princess is associated with his highness, and he has made it evidently clear over the last month that no one is to touch her. Keep in mind that we cannot trust her. Her highness is part of the kingdom of Dunhurst.*"

Then as though to add to Garrett’s point, the group of elves silently watched as Arawn wordlessly held his hand out for Evanna. She hesitated for a moment with concern forming on her features, but she soon swept the emotion off her face and placed her hand in his. Their fingers intertwined, and the Crown Prince started to lead Evanna away from the campsite.
