Chapter 33: Chapter 33 : Surprise After Surprise

"Dad!??"

Eiden’s voice cracked out loud before he could stop himself, his body frozen in disbelief. His heart thumped violently in his chest as he peeked from behind the concrete wall.

"What is he... why is he... what’s going on?" He was muttering like a madman, but his brain couldn’t keep up with the chaos unraveling in front of his eyes.

Then, a thought stabbed into him like a blade.

"Wait don’t tell me... is he the one cheating with Miss Mika!?"

His heart skipped a beat. The sudden tightness in his chest made it hard to breathe.

"System-chan!" he hissed through clenched teeth, trying to remain quiet while crouched behind the apartment wall. "Ding! Show me Mika’s status!" A familiar blue screen blinked to life in front of his eyes:

Mika Holes

Progress: 50%

Harem Owner: Algir Mores

"T-the owner... is Dad..." Eiden’s vision swirled. His body went limp as his knees gave in. He stumbled backward and collapsed onto the ground, sitting hard on the pavement. The name on the status screen stared back at him mercilessly.

His father. His own father was part of a harem system and owned Mika, his teacher. The one who he Eiden had just started making progress on himself.

He stared blankly at nothing for a moment, unable to process it. His father. His dad.

A storm of emotions clashed in his chest: anger, disbelief, betrayal, disgust, and even a strange dose of surreal humor. But before any one emotion could dominate, he shook his head and forced himself to breathe.

"No. I can’t lose it now. I need to watch. I need to know the full picture." He got back on his feet and adjusted his position, resuming his stakeout from behind the narrow corner of the building.

The apartment was on the second floor, and from where Eiden crouched, he had a clear line of sight to the balcony hallway where all the apartment doors faced outward. That angle gave him a perfect view of everything that happened next.

Mika emerged from the door, her expression calm but unreadable, holding a slim black briefcase tightly in one hand. She descended the stairs without hesitation, her heels echoing lightly against the concrete steps. Eiden watched closely, his breath steady but tense.

She walked toward her parked car, unlocked it, and popped the trunk. Just as she was placing the briefcase in the back, a voice called from the second floor. "...Sorry. I’m sorry."

Eiden’s eyes shot up. It was Algir his father leaning slightly over the railing. His face was unshaven and strained, his brows furrowed in what looked like guilt. Even from below, Eiden could see the regret in his father’s eyes.

Mika paused for a heartbeat, her hand resting on the trunk. She looked up at him, her gaze unreadable... but cold. She didn’t say a word. Without so much as a nod, she turned away, opened the car door, and slid into the driver’s seat. The engine started, and in seconds, the car pulled away.

She never looked back. Algir stood frozen, his hands clenched against the rail. Then he sighed deeply, lowering his gaze, and slowly disappeared back into the apartment.

Eiden’s expression was blank, but his mind was spinning.

What the hell is happening in this family...?

Moments later, Algir reappeared at the building’s front entrance. This time, he was dressed sharply, holding a different briefcase, and already on the phone. He walked as if nothing had happened just minutes ago like he hadn’t just stood above, pleading to a woman who left him in silence.

Eiden was too far to hear the conversation, but the calm, composed body language returned. This was the Algir Mores the world knew a businessman, a father, an executive. A man good at hiding things.

After a few minutes, the call ended. Algir looked around once more, walked to the corner of the street, and vanished from Eiden’s view. Seconds later, a car pulled out of a narrow exit down the road their family car.

Eiden squinted. "So he switched vehicles... purposely. He’s covering his tracks." Just when he thought the day couldn’t get any more twisted, something else caught his attention.

A new figure emerged from the shadows near the apartment building’s side. Eiden stiffened.

The person wore a gray hoodie with the hood pulled low, a white mask over the lower face, and dark sunglasses. Their entire getup screamed suspicious from the oversized jacket to the cautious way they moved.

He didn’t speak, didn’t move just watched. The figure turned and began walking away, blending into the street on foot. Eiden waited three seconds, then silently began following. His steps were light, his heartbeat anything but.

"Who the hell is this? Another piece in this messed-up drama? Are they following Dad? Or Mika?" The person didn’t seem to notice they were being followed. They moved confidently, calmly not hurried, but deliberate. They looked like someone who’d done this before.

They turned into a side alley. Eiden peeked.

Empty. "Damn it..." he muttered, hurrying forward quietly. He scanned the block, eyes darting across every crevice then spotted the figure again just turning another corner.

Still walking. He sighed in relief and resumed the chase. For several minutes, he trailed them through tight streets, back alleys, and half-deserted sidewalks. Eventually, the figure came to a stop in a small, quiet alley tucked between two low-rise buildings. No cameras. No streetlights. No foot traffic.

Eiden ducked behind a rusted dumpster nearby, barely daring to breathe. The person scanned their surroundings with expert precision left, right, up, back. Then they knelt beside a duffel bag stashed behind a crate and unzipped it.

From the bag, they pulled out another smaller one and began removing their disguise. First, the sunglasses went in.Then, the white mask.

Next, the hoodie. Eiden’s eyes narrowed. From this angle, he could now clearly see the figure’s silhouette.

Short. Curvy. Slim waist. Feminine posture.

Definitely a woman. His brain went into overdrive. "Wait... is she someone I know? Another harem girl? An accomplice? Could she be spying on Mika and Dad too? What if she’s Mika’s wife? No... that doesn’t make sense..." since he couldn’t see an arrow above her head and he was sure she wasn’t included in harem as he didn’t recieve any quest related message from system chan .

Then came the final move. She reached up, grabbed her long black hair glossy and flowing down to her waist and pulled. The entire thing slid off. A wig. Eiden held his breath, eyes locked. The woman turned around. The dim light hit her face. And in that instant, everything inside Eiden collapsed. His mouth opened in horror. Time froze. His voice left him in a dry, shocked gasp as he blurted out "Mom?!!
