Chapter 58: The party gets started

Friday finally arrived; it would be the first of three days of partying ahead. Somehow, I felt slightly nervous. Everything had been going too smoothly up to that point, which was a bit strange. I stared at her, even more incredulous. She was definitely insane. That said, I shrugged and let her finish speaking.

"But you’re forgetting one key detail: an incubus has infinite stamina. Plus, the most important thing: while you’re transformed, anyone who doesn’t know you will see you as their dream man. So, it shouldn’t be that hard."

The way her mind worked never ceased to amaze me. How could she say something like that wouldn’t be difficult? Things don’t work that way!

At that point, it didn’t even make sense for her to deny being concerned anymore; she had basically already confessed. So all that remained was for her to be honest:

"I’ve caused you too many problems, I can’t keep being this way." She looked down slightly.

"You don’t need to worry about that."

"But..." She averted her gaze again.

"Look at me," I said, gently lifting her head with the tips of my fingers so she would face me directly. "Just trust me one more time, and everything will be fine, okay?"

"I know, but I can’t keep causing you problems. I don’t have anything to give you in return."

She was being a little difficult, but I was close to getting through to her. I smiled gently again and looked at her affectionately.

"You don’t need to give me anything in return. I’m helping you because I want to. I’m not someone so petty that I only do things when I can gain something out of it."

She seemed cornered, unable to argue any further. Still, that girl was being frustratingly stubborn.

"There’s no need to try so hard for me."

"Come on, just tell me already. I promise I’ll help you. After all, you’re worth all the effort in the world."
