Chapter 40: After the Storm

I opened my eyes with some difficulty. Deep down, I didn’t want to wake up, as the problems of reality invaded my mind. Still, I opened my eyes.

Eva snuggled close again, just as I lightly sat up in bed. She, in the cutest way, seemed to want to stay as close to me as possible. And gently running my fingers through her hair filled my soul with strength.

It was inevitable that I would remember the moment she told me she loved me while melting into my chest. Eva had chosen to entrust her life to me, and I had to be responsible for all the trust she placed in me.

No matter what, I had to keep that beautiful and dazzling smile always bright and adorable.

I stretched my arm to grab my phone, then opened the app. I knew I had completed Eva’s mission, but I needed to see what else had changed. Not to mention, I wanted a better sense of my situation and what resources I had.

Regardless, I took the opportunity to analyze how my relationships with the girls were progressing and what had changed in that regard. Lila, as always, had all her stats maxed out, while Eva was close to reaching that point:

I had barely reached the necessary level of sexual intimacy, but I was still far from the required threshold. Once again, I would have to put Ember’s quest aside. It was clear that conquering her would be a long and challenging journey.

Helena, on the other hand, had missions that progressed much more smoothly. I had already completed her second mission. Moving forward, her new mission was rather vague, as the app often preferred to keep things mysterious:

Finally, of course, there was Eva, whose mission I had also completed. It was at this moment that I was surprised by something. Naturally, I had completed the 4th phase of having my first time with the girl, as I had expected. As a reward, I earned a gcoin, bringing my total to 4.

However, in addition to the 4th phase, I had also completed the 5th phase by having sex with Eva and another girl, in this case, Lila. As a reward for that, I received a special item from the game.

It was a tiny microphone that could easily be attached to clothing and could record things. It worked magically, so it didn’t require a battery, but only I could use it. Honestly, it didn’t seem all that useful.

I hesitated for a moment as I looked at it. I didn’t know what would happen if I clicked that button, but I was certain I wanted Eva with me forever. I took a deep breath and decided to trust that the girl would never leave me.

I pressed the button, saying yes, and then:

"Humm..." Eva sighed, then suddenly, she sat up and looked at me.

In her gaze, I saw something strange as she seemed to lose her soul for a moment, her mind filling with information. Then, she said:

"I understand, that explains a lot." She pointed at the phone I was holding. "Are you looking at your missions?"

I felt a rush of anxiety. How did she know about the app? What had happened? Was it because I clicked yes...

Seeing my panic and surprise, Eva laughed cutely, then lightly touched my cheek and gave me a charming smile.

"Now I know everything, you silly." Then she explained that, suddenly, all the knowledge about the fact that I had the app appeared in her mind. Finally, she said playfully: "Now I’m part of your harem, aren’t I? Probably, all our relationship stats must be maxed out."

Just as she said, everything with Eva was now at 100%. Thinking about it, I realized that bringing a girl into the harem probably meant instantly maxing out our relationship. However, if we didn’t have a strong enough connection for her to accept being part of the harem, it would mean resetting everything. It really was a very risky choice to make.

As a reward for the risky decision I made, I received a helper pack, which would instantly summon a girl into the harem. Undeniably, it wasn’t a bad trade-off. I also gained the right to open another quest, but given the amount of problems on my mind at that moment, I decided to save both for later.

"Then from now on, I’m supposed to help you increase your harem, right?" Her voice was really cute.

I intended to continue having a casual conversation with the little, cute girl, but a phone call interrupted me, it was my boss calling. Since I needed to take the call, I got up and went to the living room. Meanwhile, I told Eva to go help Lila, who was preparing breakfast and other things.

I sighed deeply as I thought about the situation. More than ever, I would need money, but getting it had become even harder.

So what should I do?

I stared at the ceiling, feeling a mix of fear, exhaustion, and despair. Then I took a deep breath, filling my chest with determination. At the same time, as if mocking my resolve, the phone rang once again.

I really wished I had just killed that guy... I sighed deeply as I thought about it.

Still, I was glad I hadn’t, because if I had, I’d definitely be locked up for life by now.
