Chapter 407: Chapter 407: I’ll Meet Them

"Mr. Thompson, it’s the middle of the night. Why aren’t you sleeping? What are you doing up?"

Julia Land yawned, but before she could yawn a second time, James Thompson interrupted her.

"Carson Dunn tried to do a good deed but ended up being schemed against. Honestly, I didn’t really want to help him, but then I thought about our daughter’s reputation." James said expressionlessly and sent a message, immediately ordering his men to rescue Carson.

He was simmering with anger inside.

He couldn’t believe Carson Dunn had really fallen for the trap, showing no vigilance whatsoever.

He’s already planning to get married, yet he’s still showing pity to other women...

Julia Land, hearing what James had said, sat up and leaned against the headboard. "What’s going on?"

James placed his phone on the nightstand, reached out, and pulled Julia into his arms before succinctly explaining, "That woman, Snowlyn Winters. Someone knocked on her door late at night. Carson took her to a hotel to stay. Not long after the two entered a room together, Eleanor Thompson also entered the room."

Julia Land, "..."

She closed her eyes, suppressing her own urge to lose her temper.

Meanwhile, in the hotel room.

Eleanor Thompson had already stripped Carson Dunn of his clothes—and her own.

With her phone in hand, she was ready to take intimate photos of them.

The man was unconscious. Though nothing truly happened between them, snapping some intimate photos was still feasible!

"I wonder if Dale Land would feel so disgusted she’d want to vomit when she sees these photos."

Eleanor laughed, both delighted and thrilled. She raised her phone, ready to capture it all, her heart full of venomous satisfaction.

She imagined Dale Land heartbroken upon seeing these photos.

"So pitiful!"

Just as she pressed the shutter button, the door to the room was suddenly flung open with a loud bang.

Eleanor turned her head in shock and saw several bodyguards burst in.

"Ah! Who are you people?"

Eleanor quickly grabbed the blanket to cover herself, screaming as she questioned them.

The bodyguards remained calm and ignored her cries.

The leader of the group instructed two of them to carry Carson away, blanket and all.

In an instant, Eleanor was left exposed without her cover. She hugged herself, staring at the men in terror.

One of the bodyguards picked up Eleanor’s phone and checked it. Seeing an intimate photo already taken, he nodded at the leader.

The entire group was in and out of the room in less than three minutes.

The room fell silent once more.

After calming down, Eleanor let out a sharp scream. She grabbed a pillow from the bed and angrily hurled it onto the floor.

Her screeches echoed throughout the room.

Eleanor stared at the pillow on the ground, a flash of resentment in her eyes.

Who on earth interrupted her plan?

She got off the bed and quickly dressed herself. As she passed the unconscious Snowlyn Winters lying on the floor, she angrily kicked her several times.

"Bitch!"

*

Bella Quarter was woken by a phone call.

She glanced at the empty side of the bed—William Thompson hadn’t come home to sleep tonight.

As soon as she pressed the answer button, Eleanor Thompson’s enraged and unhinged voice bombarded her.

"Sister Bella, I was just about to take some intimate photos of Carson Dunn and me tonight, but someone appeared out of nowhere to sabotage me. They rescued Carson!"

Upon hearing Eleanor’s hysterics, Bella furrowed her brows.

Her mind, now fully awake, didn’t linger on her sleepiness. She realized the situation might be getting complicated.

"Eleanor, please calm down first. Who rescued Carson Dunn?" Bella quickly analyzed possible scenarios in her mind. "It could be someone sent by Dale Land, or maybe someone from his own side."

Truth be told, she was most concerned about whether it might have been Julia Land or James Thompson.

If it was them, it would mean they were fully aware of Eleanor’s scheme.

Eleanor angrily ruffled her hair. "I don’t know who it was! Things were going so smoothly."

Bella frowned deeply and advised calmly, "For now, just stay away from Carson Dunn. Don’t provoke him."

"Are you saying I should just give up?" Eleanor was fuming. She’d wanted to make Dale Land miserable, and now her plan had failed.

"After what happened, Carson will probably stay more vigilant." Bella lamented inwardly.

**

The next day, James Thompson followed his usual routine: woke up, changed clothes, and took his daughter and son out for some exercise.

By the time they returned, Dale Land saw Carson Dunn standing in the living room and greeted him with a smile. "Carson, why are you here so early today?"

Carson Dunn had lately been coming by every morning to take Dale to work.

After waking up, Carson had learned from the bodyguards about how he was almost successfully trapped last night.

If James hadn’t sent people in time to rescue him, he could easily imagine what the consequences would have been.

"Little Dale, I’m sorry," he said apologetically.

Dale paused for a moment, confused about why he was apologizing out of nowhere.

James lightly patted his son’s backside, signaling Alice Thompson to go get cleaned up and have breakfast.

Alice flashed an OK sign and ran upstairs.

Dale looked at her dad’s cold expression and then at her mom’s calm demeanor, sensing that something wasn’t quite right.

"Why are you apologizing? What happened?" she asked inquisitively.

Carson hesitated briefly before explaining concisely, "Last night, I was set up. Snowlyn Winters called, claiming she was being harassed. I helped arrange a place for her to stay, but in the end, she drugged me. Fortunately, your dad sent someone in time to get me out."

Dale frowned.

"Snowlyn was sent by Eleanor Thompson," Carson said, his tone calm but with a flicker of coldness in his eyes.

He realized it was time to bring in a few bodyguards from Sea Pearl City.

When Dale heard it was Eleanor, she turned to James. "Dad, what exactly is her deal? Does she just want to mess with me?"

What’s wrong with her!

James’ gaze darkened, his eyes cutting sharply toward Carson.

Dale knew her dad was angry.

Carson could sense James’ fury too.

The two stood quietly, not daring to move.

Julia handed James a glass of water, aware that he wasn’t particularly pleased with how Carson had handled the situation.

James took the glass from Julia, drank a sip, placed it down, and looked directly at Carson and Dale.

"Carson," James said calmly but firmly, "Even when showing kindness to other women, you should remain vigilant."

Carson immediately felt a wave of embarrassment. "Uncle, Auntie, I’m terribly sorry. Last night’s events will never happen again. I’ll be more cautious and careful in the future. I won’t give opportunities to those with malicious intentions."

"Remember what you promised today," James said coolly. "Dale, go prepare for breakfast. Don’t you have an important meeting later?"

"Got it, Dad."

Once Dale got ready, ate breakfast, and left with Carson, James turned to Julia, a trace of helplessness appearing in his expression. "Little Julia, as long as I’m still alive, I can’t bear to let my daughter deal with these nasty schemes on her own."

Their original plan had been to let Dale handle these venomous challenges as life experience, but now James couldn’t help but feel pity for his daughter.

Julia smiled and kissed him. "Mr. Thompson, I’ll follow your lead."

James’ gaze softened, though his tone retained an edge of iciness. "I’ll take Alice to school first, then have Eleanor and William brought in to meet with me."
