Chapter 341: Chapter 341: You Can’t Afford to Compensate

Dale Land asked the bodyguard to fetch the takeout that Carson Dunn had ordered from the house at Harbor Journey Gardens.

Julia Land slightly raised the corners of her mouth upon hearing her daughter instruct the bodyguard, thinking to herself that this Carson Dunn must be a thoughtful person for ordering takeout for her daughter.

James Thompson, on the other hand, harrumphed inwardly.

After Dale Land had sent the bodyguard to get the takeout, she opened her laptop and turned the screen slightly towards Julia, "Mommy, this is the travel itinerary I’ve planned. Could you take a look and see if it’s okay?"

She was determined to spend time traveling with her parents before starting her job at the company.

Julia Land carefully examined her daughter’s travel guide.

When she noticed that the distance to hospitals was noted in the itinerary, she felt a warm feeling in her heart, as they were all concerned about James Thompson suddenly collapsing again.

Julia Land smiled and nodded affirmatively, "Let’s follow this itinerary. We can also take a camper van."

James Thompson was peeling apples for the two of them without joining the conversation; decisions in the house were made by them, not by him.

Once Dale Land had decided on the itinerary, she mentioned that she planned to meet with Carson Dunn that evening.

Julia, the mother, had just nodded her head.

Mr. Thompson, the dad, then spoke up, "Don’t stay out overnight, be home before 11 p.m."

Julia, "..." When did she not know Mr. Thompson could be such a drama king?

Dale Land answered with a smile, "Got it, Daddy. Your daughter will definitely be back on time."

It wasn’t long before the bodyguard had brought back the takeout.

Dale Land opened the bag and saw the black rice porridge Carson Dunn had specially ordered for her, feeling sweet inside.

She had already eaten breakfast and planned to save it for lunch.

Julia Land glanced at the bowl of porridge, thought for a moment, and made a decision, "When we return from our trip, let’s temporarily move to live at Harbor Journey Gardens."

Dale Land was surprised for a moment, but then understood Julia’s concern, "Mommy, you really don’t have to worry, I will find an opportunity to clarify things with Carson."

Julia Land smiled, her daughter was indeed smart, "Your father and I also want to evaluate Carson Dunn."

Dale Land nodded.

Alice Thompson was sent to kindergarten, leaving only the three adults at home.

They spent the entire day playing mahjong together.

Having played mahjong, as it approached four in the afternoon, Dale Land started to do her makeup, change clothes, and get ready to leave.

Watching his daughter, who was already changed and coming downstairs, James Thompson reminded her, "Dale, be careful, call us at anytime if something happens, and remember to come home early."

Dale Land nodded obediently, "Got it, Daddy. Mommy, I’m leaving now."

She was going directly to Thompson Group to wait for Carson Dunn to get off work.

The Thompson Group building, located in the busiest commercial district of Capital City, was also where Dale Group was situated.

The former Thompson Group represented the commercial power of Capital City, but ever since Cody Thompson’s death, the group had begun to decline.

Based on the current overall strength rankings of the corporations in Capital City, Dale Group had already taken a significant lead in first place, followed by Bell Group and Lewis Corporation. Thompson Group’s strength had dropped to the fourth place.

Now Dale Group was the true representative of Capital City’s commercial power, with its newly built skyscraper being one of the iconic buildings of the city.

Dale Land had read through the development history of Dale Group.

She truly admired her mother’s decision-making ability behind the scenes.

She got off her car and sent the family driver away.

Dale Land checked the time; there was still half an hour left until Carson Dunn’s work hours ended.

She looked up at Thompson Group and decided to wait for him at the coffee shop next to Thompson Group.

Scarlett Grant was holding several boxes and walking; she glanced at the ground as if she had stepped on something, but in doing so, she accidentally bumped into someone.

The boxes she was carrying fell to the ground, spilled open, and the dresses and shoes inside were strewn across the pavement.

Scarlett Grant turned pale at the sight of the dresses and shoes scattered on the ground. This was bad.

Dale Land hadn’t expected someone to suddenly bump into her from behind. She was startled and turned around to see the dresses and shoes on the ground.

Scarlett Grant, upon seeing Dale Land’s larger figure and quickly noticing the ordinary clothes she wore, immediately thought of shifting blame, "Miss, you were in the way! These dresses and shoes are all haute couture, can you afford to compensate?"

Dale Land looked at Scarlett Grant indifferently and then glanced at the dresses on the ground, "Miss, you bumped into me; I wasn’t in the way. You should apologize to me."

Scarlett Grant persisted in accusing her, "You were blocking the way, and you dirtied these haute couture dresses and shoes; you need to compensate!"

Dale Land raised her eyebrows, "Are you trying to scam me?"

Right at that moment, a red sports car stopped at the entrance of Thompson Group.

The driver got out to open the door, and a stunning young woman emerged from the car.

Eleanor Thompson saw her assistant Scarlett Grant, as well as the dresses and shoes on the ground, and her face instantly chilled.

Upon seeing Eleanor Thompson, Scarlett Grant quickly ran over, bent over and bowed, and explained with a sense of grievance, "Boss, she bumped into me and knocked the boxes over, I’m sorry!"

Eleanor Thompson glanced at Dale Land with a disdainful look. As a designer, she appreciated beautiful things, and obviously, Dale Land’s appearance was an eyesore to her.

"Contact someone to deliver the dresses and shoes again, and have her compensate for the ones on the ground," she commanded.

Dale Land had recognized the Thompson family member as soon as Eleanor Thompson got out of the car.

Although she never appeared in the circles of Capital City, Julia and James Thompson would always tell her about the people and events within them.

So now, while Dale Land recognized Eleanor Thompson, Eleanor didn’t know who Dale Land was.

Dale Land smiled and said, "It was your assistant who bumped into me; I was simply standing here. It should be me discussing compensation with her."

Eleanor Thompson looked coldly at Dale Land, "I think you can’t afford to compensate, and you’re trying to dodge responsibility. Are you an employee of Thompson Group? If so, you won’t need to come to work anymore."
