Chapter 327: An Unexpected Fall
Chapter 327: Chapter 327: An Unexpected Fall
Dunmore City.
Wang Yu, mentioned by Douglas Hayes, bought a bouquet of roses for Emily Yeat.
He was dressed in a white shirt and casual pants, tall and slim, his expression cool as he pursed his thin lips, "I got paid today."
Emily received the roses with a warmth on her face, she looked at the man and smiled.
Since her marriage to Noah Quarter, she had never received any gift from him.
Regardless of whether a man is rich or not, sometimes, a woman can be very happy with just a small gift.
Emily looked at the man in front of her, who had saved her not long ago.
Touched, she reached out and took the initiative to hook her arm through Wang Yu’s, "Thank you."
Wang Yu looked down at his arm being held, pleased inside. He truly wished to find a wealthy woman to support him, and naturally treated Emily earnestly.
"Shall we go watch a movie?" Wang Yu asked hesitantly.
"Sure." Emily nodded in agreement.
Leah Thompson had just walked out of a restaurant when she saw her daughter-in-law arm in arm with a man not far away, laughing and chatting intimately.
Her heart sank immediately, and after a moment of hesitation, she decided to follow them quietly to see what was going on.
Emily and the man went to the cinema and bought movie tickets, queuing up to enter the theater.
After the shock, Leah nearly burst into derisive laughter. Was this woman cheating on her son behind his back?
She quickly took out her phone and secretly snapped a photo of the couple, which she sent to Noah Quarter.
[Son, do you know where your wife is right now? She’s getting cosy with a man and about to go watch a movie]
After sending the photo to Noah, the more Leah thought about it, the angrier she got. She also sent the photo to Maya Chant, [Mom, Emily is really restless, she’s utterly stepping on Noah’s dignity]
At that moment, Noah was dining with a client. He saw the photo and the message from Leah.
His expression remained indifferent as he put away his phone.
After sending the client home, partway back to Yeat Corp, Noah received a call from his grandmother, Maya Chant.
Noah asked the driver to pull over to the side of the road, got out of the car, and took the call, "Grandma."
Maya Chant, her face expressionless, watched Eleanor Thompson practicing dance in the studio.
She expressed her concern to Noah on the other end of the line, "Noah, I just saw the photo your mother sent. Your current plight is temporary, she will regret it one day, our plan will succeed soon."
Her nephew used to be such a proud man, and now he humbly resides with the Yeat family.
All because of Julia Land and James Thompson!
Noah’s cool expression softened, "Grandma, it’s my fault, making you worry."
Maya smiled, "By the way, our Bella’s teacher praises her intelligence. You should call her when you have the time, father and daughter should keep in touch often."
Noah’s lips curled into a faint smile, "Grandma, thank you, I’ll remember to call Bella."
The two hung up the phone.
Noah sat back in the car and told the driver to continue driving. He closed his eyes, thinking of the photo of Emily and that man together, feeling extreme distaste.

After Eleanor finished practicing the last dance move, she said goodbye to her teacher with a joyful face and then ran out of the dance room.
Seeing Maya, she excitedly ran up to her and cooed, "Grandma, is grandpa about to arrive?"
By now, Maya had adopted a kind and compassionate expression. She squatted down and took out a handkerchief to gently wipe Eleanor’s sweat, "Yes, grandpa is almost here. Eleanor, go take a bath first, and we’ll go to the airport to pick up grandpa together."
On hearing this, Eleanor’s little face instantly bloomed with a brilliant smile.
She held Maya’s hand, "Okay, Eleanor misses grandpa so much!"
Cody Thompson would fly to Alice every month to spend time with Eleanor and William Thompson.
Eleanor immediately ran off to take a bath, while William was already slumped on the sofa, waiting for Eleanor to come down.
William Thompson played games every night and naturally lacked energy during the day.
Maya Chant saw William Thompson sleeping and her lips curled into a faint smile; ever since she took the twins abroad to study near Alice, she had intentionally been nurturing William and Eleanor Thompson’s incompetence!
After Eleanor Thompson finished her bath and changed into a pretty little dress, Maya Chant also woke William up, tidied up his clothes, and the family set off to pick up Cody Thompson, while Bella Quarter was not home these few days, attending a mathematics Olympiad competition.
Full of energy, Cody Thompson had just walked out of the arrival hall when he heard the joyful voice of Eleanor Thompson.
"Grandpa!" Eleanor Thompson shouted, releasing Maya Chant’s hand and running towards Cody Thompson.
Cody Thompson opened his arms and caught his granddaughter who threw herself into them.
He picked her up, his face full of indulgent smiles, "How has our little Eleanor become even cuter?"
Eleanor Thompson hugged her grandfather’s neck and laughed happily, "Grandpa, Eleanor missed you so much!"
Maya Chant pulled William forward, complaining with resignation, "Elder Thompson, the kids knew you were coming and were so excited last night that they didn’t sleep. Just look at William, his little head is nodding off again."
Cody Thompson touched William’s head, feeling happy yet heartbroken, "Let’s go home."
In the evening.
Once the twins had gone to bed, Cody Thompson leaned back on the sofa, massaging his eyebrows.
Old age takes its toll, just half a day with the little ones, and he felt exhausted.
"Maya, even if I don’t accept it, I am indeed getting old," Cody Thompson said, sighing as he accepted the tea Maya handed him.
Maya Chant sat beside him, smiling gently, "Elder Thompson, you should also take care to rest adequately during your usual work, and not overexert yourself."
Cody Thompson took a light sip of his tea and sighed, "William hasn’t grown up yet; I haven’t seen him take over the company, I don’t dare to rest."
Maya Chant noticed that Cody Thompson didn’t mention James Thompson and smiled.
After taking a few sips of tea, Cody Thompson felt his head spinning; he thought it was because he was too tired today.
Maya Chant held Cody Thompson’s hand, saying gently, "Elder Thompson, you’re tired today, go to the room and rest."
Cody Thompson shook his head, feeling that it was getting heavier, "Alright."
Maya Chant helped Cody Thompson upstairs, but when they reached the last step of the second floor, she let go of her grip on him.
Cody Thompson’s head was dizzy, his body wobbled, he stumbled backward, missed a step, and rolled straight down the stairs.
He fell heavily on the ground with a thud.
"Elder Thompson!" Maya Chant feigned panic as she shouted and hurriedly ran downstairs.
She looked at Cody Thompson lying on the ground, utterly indifferent inside.
Cody Thompson lay there, with blood seeping from his head.
Maya Chant waited a moment, swiftly called emergency services, then squatted down, took Cody Thompson’s hand, and put on an anxious facade, "Elder Thompson, you’ll be alright, it’s going to be fine."
Cody Thompson had tumbled from the higher steps to the bottom; it was impossible for him to be unscathed, especially considering his old age.
"Elder Thompson, the ambulance is on its way, hang in there," she comforted softly.
Cody Thompson gasped in pain, consciousness fading gradually, and he passed out.
Maya Chant went to wash the teacup that was left on the living room coffee table and then returned to Cody Thompson’s side to wait for the ambulance with him.
Soon after, the ambulance arrived, the paramedics quickly came, took Cody Thompson onto a stretcher, and transported him to the hospital.
Maya Chant called the nanny to come over to look after the twins, then followed the ambulance to the hospital.
She awaited the doctor to announce Cody Thompson’s heartbeat had stopped and his death, following a failed resuscitation.
Suppressing the joy in her heart, she put on an extremely sorrowful expression.
Maya Chant took out her cellphone, called Assistant Hunter, her voice choked, "Assistant Hunter, get in touch with James Thompson. Elder Thompson... he accidentally fell from the stairs, he’s gone."
Harry Hunter was instantly stunned. Elder Thompson was gone? He quickly gathered his wits, "Alright, I’ll contact Young Master Thompson immediately."
After hanging up the phone, Maya Chant collapsed into a chair, covered her face with her hands, pretending to weep bitterly, but her heart was coldly scheming her next moves.
