Chapter 320: Chapter 320: Bowing Down to Cooperate with Her

In the morning, James Thompson had calmed down considerably.

Julia Land was getting ready to head out for work when she walked over to James with a smile and took the initiative to ask for a kiss.

James bent down and lowered his head to accommodate her kiss.

"I’ll bring lunch for you at noon," he said.

Julia nodded and waved as she got into her car.

At 9:30 in the morning, Julia was in the company’s meeting room preparing to convene an important meeting.

Before the meeting, she dialed Uncle Moore’s phone number.

"Good morning, Mr. Uncle Moore," Julia’s voice was calm but laced with a hint of mockery, "I wanted to assure you of my safety. I’m well, thank you for your care during this time."

Uncle Moore had been waiting for news from that pair of siblings since early morning, and his expression darkened immediately upon receiving Julia’s call.

He scoffed coldly, "Director Land is really thoughtful, going so far as to check in with her uncle for safety."

"I cherish this last chance to assure you of my well-being," Julia sighed and chuckled lightly, "Your health is truly enviable; otherwise, you wouldn’t be so spry. As your junior, I’m genuinely delighted for you."

Uncle Moore said through gritted teeth, "Julia Land, don’t be too smug. There will come a day when you will regret it."

The two of them had effectively torn their faces apart.

"You’re likely to regret it before I do," Julia spoke indifferently, "Let’s wait and see, Mr. Uncle Moore. I wish you a pleasant day today."

After hanging up, Uncle Moore was fuming to the point of death.

Julia, however, walked out of her office with a smile. Michael Scott hurried after her with the documents, heading to the meeting room.

Inside the meeting room, the company’s top executives had been waiting for some time.

Julia walked to the front of the conference table, looked around with a smile, and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, our company has faced various challenges lately, and I am delighted that everyone has pulled together to overcome these difficult times."

"Today, the company will distribute performance bonuses to all employees of Dale Group."

The executives clapped happily.

With bonuses to be had, who wouldn’t be happy?

"Today we will also discuss plans for the next quarter. We must ensure that our website’s products maintain their competitive edge in the market."

Her voice was composed as she looked at the directors present, "Everyone is encouraged to offer suggestions."

Meanwhile, not long after receiving the call from Julia, Uncle Moore became more and more incensed to the point of throwing his teacup.

His face ashen with rage, he cursed vehemently, "I can’t believe Julia Land has such a hard life!"

Mason Moore, who came to see Uncle Moore, just witnessed him smashing the teacup.

"Did it fail?" Mason asked in a low voice, frowning.

"Hmm," Uncle Moore was really annoyed, every plan against Julia always evaded by her, "We can’t let her continue to be so smug; we must find her weakness."

Mason pondered with a frown, "Her weakness? Aside from that child who’s supposedly dead, I don’t see any other vulnerabilities."

He suddenly paused, thought for a moment, then continued, "We had a perfect plan this time; how could Julia have evaded it? Actually... I’m beginning to suspect that she knew about our plans in advance."

Uncle Moore furrowed his brows, a new thought brewing, "Are you suspecting that someone installed a listening device in the private room of the club?"

Mason shook his head, "Definitely no listening or surveillance devices; you know our practice. Before we enter the private room at the club, we always have bodyguards sweep the room. This time, Daniel Moore’s bodyguard was responsible for checking the room, and he was the first to arrive."

"I’ll call Daniel," Uncle Moore picked up his cell phone from the table and dialed Daniel Moore.

Daniel Moore had just returned from the casino half an hour before, in a state of disarray. He lay heavily asleep on his bed, completely out of spirits.

The phone rang and stopped, stopped and then continued to ring.

Daniel Moore picked up the phone from his nightstand without even looking at the caller ID and cursed, "Damn it, what’s with all the calls, I’m busy right now!"

Uncle Moore’s face darkened upon hearing Daniel’s curse.

He said coldly, "Daniel, who are you cursing at?!"

Realizing it was Uncle Moore, Daniel’s mind cleared a bit, though his voice was still drowsy, "Uncle, sorry, I didn’t realize it was you. I didn’t look at the caller ID just now."

He let out several yawns in a row.

"At this time, you’re still sleeping?" Uncle Moore didn’t wait for Daniel’s response to that question before he asked an important one, "The other night when we met at the club, did your bodyguard notice anything unusual while checking the private room?"

The sudden question shocked Daniel awake.

He laughed nervously twice and hurriedly answered, "No anomalies found at all. I’m really sleepy; I’m going back to bed."

He hung up the phone feeling guilty.

Uncle Moore looked at the disconnected call and scoffed. He turned to Mason and said, "Daniel had his bodyguard check the room, and they found nothing."

Mason sighed, "Then maybe I was wrong. Julia probably didn’t know about our plan in advance. What a shame, such a good plan and opportunity, yet she’s still alive and well."

Claire Hamilton stood outside the study with a tray. She knocked on the door and then came in.

She brought coffee for Uncle Moore and Mason.

Mason took the coffee and thanked her.

Claire placed the second cup of coffee on Uncle Moore’s desk. She didn’t leave the study right away. Instead, she said, "Just now, Daniel’s wife called crying. She said Daniel has been addicted to gambling recently and has lost a lot of money. She wants you to have a word with him."

Mason raised an eyebrow indifferently, "Don’t bother with Daniel’s issues. He has always been a gambler, it’s always been this way."

Claire hesitated before speaking, "But this time, according to my sister-in-law’s tearful complaints, Daniel seems to have lost a lot last night, at least several billion."

"What?" Mason’s voice instantly rose, "He used to lose tens, hundreds of thousands at the most, how did it suddenly reach a billion???"
