Chapter 314: Did the Two of Them Get Divorced?

Chapter 314: Chapter 314: Did the Two of Them Get Divorced?

Elizabeth Shaw was having dinner and asked, "Sophie, when are you planning to go back to Inkwell City? I really appreciate your help these past few days."

Sophie Woods smiled, "Why so formal with me? I’ll head back to Inkwell City after grandpa’s surgery."

Elizabeth Shaw nodded, feeling very thankful to her friend, "Thank you."

Now, as her grandpa lay in the hospital bed, he was in good spirits. Seeing his granddaughter surrounded by good friends and kind people like Director Land made him feel content. If he passed away, he would do so with peace of mind.

Elizabeth Shaw suddenly thought of something, "Director Land and Mr. Thompson have helped me so much. I want to buy them gifts, but what should I get?"

Sophie thought about it and couldn’t come up with anything specific, "Gifts don’t have to be expensive, it’s the thought that counts."

After saying this, Sophie suddenly recalled something and her expression became complicated, "I just found out that Director Land and our boss are already divorced."

Elizabeth Shaw put down her chopsticks in surprise, "Really? They got divorced?"

Elizabeth doubted the news brought by Sophie; could her boss and his wife really have divorced?

She asked with a frown, "Where did you hear this news?"

Sophie explained, "An online forum."

She had specifically looked it up. There was extensive media coverage when Mr. Thompson and Miss Land got married.

However, there wasn’t much media fanfare when they divorced. Still, while browsing forums, she saw people mentioning the divorce between James Thompson and Julia Land.

Elizabeth Shaw frowned, "They looked so loving together, how could they suddenly get divorced? The information from forums isn’t always reliable."

Sophie shook her head, "I’m not sure myself. I just saw people discussing it and some posted many details, so it didn’t seem like mere speculation."

Elizabeth Shaw reflected, "I think it’s best not to trust the forums so easily. Director Land has been very nice to us; we should respect her privacy."

Sophie nodded, hiding a fleeting thought, and decided not to continue the topic.

Truth be told, she felt somewhat pleased when she first came across the information about their divorce.

Julia Land left the hospital and immediately instructed Tyler Hughes to drive her home.

When she arrived home, she didn’t see James Thompson in the living room, so she moved on to the bedroom, but he wasn’t there either.

Her eyes slightly narrowed as she quickly took a shower, changed into her home clothes, and then walked into her daughter’s room.

James Thompson was meticulously wiping the objects in Dale’s room with a cloth.

Leaning against the door, Julia Land spoke softly, "Mr. Thompson, you’re here."

Hearing her, James Thompson turned around and saw Julia, smiled and his handsome face seemed especially gentle under the warm light, "Little Julia, you’re back, just a sec."

He wasn’t done wiping yet, but since little Julia hadn’t eaten, he planned to continue tomorrow.

Julia Land walked into the room, picked up the family photo of the three of them, gently touched her daughter’s smiling face with her fingers, then put down the photo, her eyes full of tenderness and longing.

"After dinner, I’ll help you clean," Julia Land said, her voice carrying a touch of warmth.

James Thompson smiled, "Alright, let’s go have dinner first."

The two left their daughter’s room and went downstairs.

James Thompson washed his hands in the kitchen and brought out the food that the chef had prepared.

After dinner, once they had digested their meal, they went to clean Dale Land’s room.

Just then, Julia Land’s phone rang.

She saw that the caller ID was Douglas Hayes, directly pressed answer, and put it on speaker.

Douglas Hayes’s voice came through from the other end of the phone, "Director Land, I’ve arranged for someone to seduce Emily Yeat, even specifically picking a man with a similar demeanor to Noah Quarter, I’ll send you his information in a moment."

Julia Land raised an eyebrow, "Thank you for your hard work, let that man take his time, no rush, lest he give himself away."

Douglas Hayes nodded, "I understand. Yesterday was Emily Yeat’s birthday and yet Noah Quarter went to see a client instead. I heard that because he was absent from her birthday party, he got slapped."

Julia Land responded indifferently with a hmm.

Having reported this, Douglas Hayes hung up the phone.

Julia Land quickly glanced at the information Douglas Hayes sent over. The man’s name was Zachary Wenchester; she looked at the photo and indeed, his demeanor was very similar to Noah Quarter’s.

Hmm, not bad.

She put down her phone and continued to mop the floor.

Julia Land and James Thompson finished cleaning the room before calling it a day.

The man who was still cleaning and mopping yesterday, it turned out, caught a cold when he woke up in the morning.

James Thompson’s throat was scratchy, his voice hoarse, clearly the signs of a cold.

He took his temperature with a thermometer; it was a slight fever.

It was just a minor cold with a low fever, he didn’t want to go to the hospital initially, but he got persuaded by Julia Land to go.

"Mr. Thompson, you must go to the hospital to get medicine, you hear me?" Julia Land, ready to leave for work, reminded him again worriedly.

James Thompson nodded, smiling as he pinched Julia Land’s hand, "I will definitely go, don’t worry."

Julia Land raised an eyebrow, her tone tinged with a hint of threat, "I really can’t trust that, send me a photo when you get to the hospital."

James Thompson’s smile deepened, his eyes twinkling with a teasing light, "Alright, I’ll send you a photo."

Not long after Julia Land began her work, James Thompson also changed and went to the hospital.

Once there, he took out his phone, snapped a selfie at the hospital, and sent it to Julia Land.

Jasper Winters didn’t know what face to make as he watched his boss taking a selfie, to express the internal screaming he felt at the moment.

James Thompson sent a message to Julia Land, [I’m at the hospital now.]

Julia Land replied to the message quickly, [Okay.]

James Thompson chuckled and shook his head.

The doctor soon called James Thompson for a checkup, confirmed it was just a common cold with a low fever, and prescribed some medication.

After getting the medication, James Thompson took another picture for Julia Land, [Got the medicine, heading home to rest now.]

Jasper Winters felt like covering his eyes, thinking to himself: The boss is really childish when he takes selfies.

Nobody knew that the prim and proper Assistant Winters had such an active inner world.

Sophie Woods did not expect to encounter James Thompson, she was about to greet him, but was stopped by a bodyguard.

"Boss, hello." Sophie Woods smiled awkwardly, trying to break the ice.

As the assistant, Jasper Winters naturally stepped forward to handle the situation, he gave his trademark polite smile, "Miss Woods, is there something you need?"

Sophie Woods nodded, she saw James Thompson holding a bag of medicine and didn’t dare to show too much concern, instead she said, "I want to apologize to the boss."
