Chapter 309: Chapter 309: The Daughter Reaches Out Her Hand

Julia Land quickly pressed the answer button.

From the other end of the phone, James Knight’s voice was hushed, "Miss Land, we have caught the man, but... there is no sign of Miss Dale in the room; he refuses to disclose any information."

Julia’s heart felt as if it had been heavily struck, a trace of pain flickering through her eyes.

She forced herself to calm down, "Keep interrogating him; you must find a way to learn about Dale’s whereabouts."

James Knight nodded, "Understood."

After hanging up the phone, he frowned and called James Thompson.

There were things he was hesitant to discuss with Julia, "BOSS, this man is tight-lipped; we have tried all our methods, but none could pry his mouth open."

A glint of sternness flashed through James Thompson’s eyes, "Bring him to Capital City discreetly."

James Knight acknowledged the order.

Upon disconnecting the call, concerned about Julia, James Thompson immediately made a video call to her.

Seeing Julia’s emotional state relatively stable, he spoke kindly, "Lulu, I have arranged for a flight this morning; I will wait for you guys back in Capital City."

Julia nodded, her voice slightly raspy, "Hmm, we will set out in the morning."

She looked out towards the deep night outside the window.

"Mr. Thompson, my daughter will be found, right?"

In the morning, Julia Land and Jasper Winters were preparing to leave the hotel for the airport.

No sooner had Julia bent down and got into the car, with the car door still open, than she saw Elizabeth Shaw hurriedly running out of the hotel.

Elizabeth was running so hastily, wearing high heels, that she slipped and fell straight to the ground.

Julia frowned and looked out of the car at Jasper Winters, "Assistant Winters, go and help Miss Shaw."

Jasper Winters complied, swiftly walking over to help Elizabeth Shaw up, "Miss Shaw, are you alright?"

Elizabeth’s face was pale; she looked down at her knees, sweating from the pain.

Just then, Sophie Woods also caught up, witnessing Elizabeth falling.

She quickly helped support Elizabeth from the other side, "What happened to you?"

Biting her lip and enduring the pain, Elizabeth said, "I... I’m fine, Sophie, please, call a cab quickly."

Sophie didn’t know what had happened, as Elizabeth had just rushed out of the hotel after a phone call.

She hurriedly nodded, "Okay, I’ll get a taxi."

Seeing Jasper still supporting Elizabeth, Sophie felt assured to let go and went to hail a cab.

Jasper noticed that Elizabeth’s knee was clearly scraped, "Miss Shaw, you should go to the hospital to have your knee checked and treated, don’t delay."

Julia got out of the car, walked over to Elizabeth, and asked with concern, "Miss Shaw, if you are in a hurry, shall I arrange someone to drive you?"

Though it’s a hotel here, it’s a remote area, and waiting for a taxi could take some time.

Elizabeth, in her urgency, declined Julia’s kind offer, "Director Land, thank you, my family called saying my grandfather fainted, I am rushing back."

She knew an ambulance couldn’t possibly reach the village so quickly; she planned to take a ride home first to assess the situation.

Julia nodded, seeing Elizabeth so anxious, she spoke no further, "Assistant Winters, arrange a car to take Miss Shaw home, follow her and see if she needs help."

"Okay." Jasper carefully supported Elizabeth into another car, originally meant for bodyguards, and then called Sophie, "Miss Woods, please get in."

Sophie hurriedly got into the car.

As the car drove away, Sophie inexplicably scrutinized Julia through the window, a complex expression in her eyes.

Julia watched the car leave, then returned to her vehicle, continuing towards the airport.

Elizabeth Shaw’s grandfather’s home was in Grace Horse Village.

The road wasn’t very smooth.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Jasper turned to see Elizabeth’s face filled with anxiety and nervousness; he could only pass the spare medical kit to Sophie, "You can help disinfect and apply medicine to Miss Shaw’s knee."

Sophie thanked him and took the medical kit, "Lulu, grandpa will be alright, we’ll be home soon."

Elizabeth managed a nod, "Hmm."

The car arrived at Elizabeth Shaw’s grandfather’s house, Jasper got out to open the door for Elizabeth, assisting her into the house.

The relatives were all gathered around the grandfather’s bed, looking anxious.

Elizabeth rushed to the bedside, seeing her grandfather’s pale face and weak breathing, her heart clenched painfully.

"Lulu is back now, we’ve called an ambulance, but it hasn’t arrived yet," a relative informed.

Elizabeth took her grandfather’s hand, softly saying, "Grandpa, you must hold on; we’ll take you to the hospital shortly."

She turned her head to look at Jasper Winters, who was standing behind the relatives, her eyes carrying a hint of plea, "Mr. Winters, may I borrow your car?"

Jasper Winters nodded.

Elizabeth Shaw immediately asked her relatives to help carry her grandfather into the car, which quickly headed towards the hospital.

While in the car, Jasper Winters made a call directly to contact the doctor at the hospital.

The car sped all the way and finally arrived at the hospital.

Because Jasper Winters had already arranged everything in advance, the doctor and nurses were already waiting at the entrance. They immediately lifted the elderly onto a stretcher and rushed him to the emergency room.

Elizabeth Shaw grabbed Sophie Woods’ hand to steady herself, her eyes filled with anxiety.

Time passed slowly, and finally, the doors of the emergency room opened, and the doctor came out to call for the patient’s family.

"Your grandfather is temporarily out of danger, but we conducted a brain examination, and there is a tumor in his brain. Given his old age, if we proceed with brain tumor surgery, the risk is considerable, and our hospital is currently unable to perform such surgery," the doctor said with a hint of helplessness in his voice.

Elizabeth Shaw held Sophie Woods’ hand tightly, her voice slightly trembling, "Doctor, thank you."

After the doctor left.

Sophie Woods gently patted the back of Elizabeth Shaw’s hand, "Elizabeth, we can look for a specialist in this field. Grandpa will be alright."

Elizabeth Shaw nodded, "I know."

She turned her head to Jasper Winters and gratefully said, "Mr. Winters, thank you for today, and thank Director Land."

Jasper Winters, "You’re welcome, Miss Shaw, you should first get a doctor to bandage the wound on your knee."

Elizabeth Shaw responded with a hum.

Jasper Winters watched as Elizabeth Shaw, limping with Sophie Woods’ support, left, then sent a message to Julia Land informing her about the situation here.

Julia Land saw the message from Jasper Winters after getting off the plane, and she replied, "Assistant Winters, you might suggest that Miss Shaw brings her grandfather to the Capital City First Hospital."

Capital City First Hospital specializes in brain surgery.

Thinking of Elizabeth Shaw falling outside the hotel in her anxiety, Julia Land immediately sent her a message, "If you would like to bring your grandfather to the Capital City First Hospital, please contact me, I will arrange everything at the hospital for you."

Upon seeing Julia Land’s message, Elizabeth Shaw felt a wave of gratitude.

As she was thinking about where to take her grandfather for surgery, Julia Land sent her a timely message.

She quickly replied, "Director Land, thank you so much, I am willing to take my grandfather to the Capital City First Hospital. I truly appreciate your help."

Julia Land quickly replied, "Once everything is arranged, I will inform you."

Julia Land then sent Jasper Winters the information that Elizabeth Shaw would bring her grandfather to Capital City.

Bodyguards escorted Julia Land out of the airport.

As she just walked out of the arrival hall entrance, she saw James Thompson.

James Thompson was dressed in casual clothes, tall and robust, his face showing a bit of fatigue, and when he saw Julia Land, his eyes were deep and affectionate.

Julia Land walked up briskly, nearly running.

She threw herself into his arms.

James Thompson gently embraced her, tenderly stroking her back.

Julia Land buried in James Thompson’s arms, unable to stop her tears from flowing.

This time, she had rushed to Fair Field full of hope to find her daughter, but the outcome had made her so distressed.

James Thompson lowered his head, his lips gently touching her hair, and softly said, "Let’s go home."

He waited for Julia Land’s emotions to calm down, gently wiping the tears from her face, and escorted her to sit in the car, then he followed.

The car smoothly traveled along the streets of Capital City.

Julia Land sat on James Thompson’s lap, leaning against his chest while he leaned back in the car seat, holding her in his embrace.

"Little Liz," James Thompson softly called out.

"Hmm."

"Have you not slept in the past few days?"

James Thompson’s fingers gently touched her dark circles.

Julia Land had been half awake these past days; the dark circles were naturally evident.

She looked up at James Thompson, seeing his weary appearance she also knew he had not slept well these days.

"You too," she said softly, her voice tinged with fatigue.

James Thompson smiled gently, his finger lightly touching her cheek, "We both need to rest well to have the energy to look for our daughter."

Julia Land nodded, her head buried in James Thompson’s chest, feeling his heartbeat.

It seemed as if only the rhythm of his heartbeat could calm her.

Whenever she closed her eyes, she would hallucinate her daughter reaching out to her for help.
