Chapter 307: Get Closer
Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Get Closer
When Julia Land came home from work that evening, James Thompson told her about the incident between Andrew Benson and Sophia Hart.
"I’m not sure about the specifics since Andrew Benson has sealed off the information, but his mother was taken to the ER a couple of days ago, and the doctors issued a critical condition notice to the family."
Julia Land frowned, "You suspect that Sophia had a confrontation with Andrew Benson’s mother? Something happened?"
James Thompson nodded indifferently, "That’s likely the case. We can only find out what exactly happened when that girl Sophia contacts us."
Although Julia Land was a bit worried, she could only wait for Sophia to get in touch with her.
First, she went to take a shower.
The company can finally begin developing according to her plan.
Julia Land finally had some free time tonight, so after her shower, she went to the study to contact Douglas Hayes.
Douglas Hayes reported to Julia Land the findings of his investigation regarding Noah Quarter.
Noah Quarter served as a manager in the business division of Yeat Corp, he and his wife Emily Yeat were living with the Yeat Family, while his mother Leah Thompson and Eliza Quarter lived together.
It sounded like he married into the family.
Julia Land pondered for a moment, "How is his relationship with Emily Yeat?"
Douglas Hayes analyzed, "Miss Yeat is prideful and haughty, and when buying handbags and clothes, it’s always Miss Yeat who pays. People in their circle mock her to some extent; her relationship with Noah Quarter isn’t unbreakable."
Julia Land smiled faintly, "Arrange for an ambitious man to charm Emily Yeat for me. As for Noah Quarter, I will handle it by assigning someone else."
Douglas Hayes nodded, "Understood. I’ll arrange it as soon as possible; it’s easy to find ambitious men these days."
The two then spoke about the recent matters concerning Orange Inc.
Douglas Hayes briefly reported on the company’s developments and certain issues.
Just then, James Thompson came into the study holding a glass of milk, placing it beside Julia Land.
"Thank you," Julia Land said in gratitude.
Douglas Hayes saw James Thompson through the camera lens and nodded as a greeting.
James Thompson put down the glass of milk and left the study without disturbing their conversation.
Unnoticed by them, it was already ten o’clock when their conversation ended.
Julia Land turned off the computer, picked up the empty glass of milk, and walked out of the study, descending the stairs.
James Thompson was sitting on the couch, looking through some documents.
Seeing Julia Land coming downstairs, he asked, "Finished talking?"
Julia Land nodded, sitting down beside James Thompson, placing the empty glass of milk on the coffee table, "Do you want to go out for a walk tomorrow?"
James Thompson closed the files, "Sure."
Julia Land hugged a pillow, holding it in her arms and leaning on James Thompson’s shoulder, "I’m about to take action against Noah Quarter."
From Secretary Land to now.
Julia Land sighed.
James Thompson extended his arm and enveloped her in an embrace.
He replied, "Okay."

This morning, after getting up, Julia Land and James Thompson changed into simple clothes and left the house.
There is a popular temple on Victorious Martial Peak in Capital City, and they decided to go there to pray.
Driving to Victorious Martial Peak, including traffic time on the road, would take at least an hour or more.
Today, James Thompson was driving.
There is a parking lot at the foot of Victorious Martial Peak, and they parked the car and got out.
The outside temperature was very high.
It was only the morning, but it was already 37 degrees Celsius.
Julia Land put on a sun hat and bent over to get another one from the car for James Thompson.
She looked up at the mountain, "I heard that walking up the steps one by one makes your prayers more likely to be answered."
James Thompson took the sun hat, put it on, and nodded, "Then let’s climb the stairs."
"Okay," Julia Land nodded, and they both headed toward the stairs.
At the entrance of the staircase, they held hands and started the earnest climb to the summit step by step.
The staircase of Victorious Martial Peak stretched upwards, growing steeper as they continued to climb.
The sunlight filtered through the leaves onto them, and by the time they reached halfway up the mountain, the backs of their clothes were drenched with sweat.
"The temple atop Victorious Martial Peak has a history of three hundred years and many miraculous stories. Mr. Thompson, have you ever been here before?"
Julia Land halted, looking up at the tall steps before her, taking out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from her brow.
James Thompson unscrewed a bottle of water suitable for after exercise and handed it to Julia first, "I haven’t been here before."
Both had some water and rested for a bit before continuing the climb upward.
Eventually, they reached the mountaintop.
The ancient architecture of the temple stood atop the peak, filled with centuries of historical charm.
As they walked into the temple, the air was filled with the sound of chanting and a bustling incense offering.
Julia Land and James Thompson knelt devotedly in front of the temple, their singular prayer was for their daughter to be safe and sound.
**
After leaving the temple and halfway down the mountain on their drive back to the city, James Thompson received a call from Jasper Winters.
"BOSS, our people have spotted that man in Fair Field Town."
James Thompson instantly gripped the steering wheel tighter, his gaze sharpening, "Did they see Dale as well?"
Jasper Winters’ voice continued from the other end of the phone, "Our people only saw the man going out to eat, they didn’t spot Miss Dale with him."
James Thompson pulled the car to the roadside to stop, "First find out where he’s staying, and prepare the plane."
After hanging up the phone, James Thompson turned to look at Julia Land.
Desire filled Julia’s eyes.
He said softly, "The man was found in Fair Field Town, but our daughter wasn’t seen."
Immediately, Julia took out her phone and sent a message to Michael Scott to continue monitoring Uncle Moore and their matters, also instructing that she wouldn’t come to the office for the next few days. She then said to James, "I’ll go home, grab my luggage, and head straight to the airport. I never expected that man would return to Fair Field."
Since James Thompson was restricted and could not leave Capital City, he said, "I’ll have Jasper Winters accompany you to Fair Field."
"Okay."
Back at home, Julia Land quickly packed two sets of clothes and her documents,
For some reason, James Thompson felt uneasy. He grasped her hand, "Little Julia, remember, no matter what happens, stay calm and mindful of your own safety."
Julia nodded, "I know."
James Thompson watched intensely as Julia Land got into the car. He looked towards Jasper Winters, signaling him to take good care of Julia.
Jasper nodded and got into the car.
It was just after five in the afternoon when they arrived at Fair Field from Capital City.
Julia Land was tense the entire journey.
After reaching Fair Field, they checked into a local hotel.
James Knight had been waiting there for a long time.
"Miss Land," James Knight reported, "we’ve confirmed the man’s residence, but we haven’t seen any children around him."
Because they were not certain whether Dale Land was with him, they dared not capture the man.
Julia Land furrowed her brows, "Monitor for a couple of days, but if... if we don’t spot Dale then, arrest him."
James Knight nodded, "We will keep watching him and try not to alert him."
After James Knight left, Jasper Winters also exited the room.
Julia Land had been sitting upright, listening intently to James Knight’s report. Now, as they left, she bent over.
She propped her elbows on the table, fingers threading through her hair.
Julia Land closed her eyes, feeling waves of helplessness wash over her.
Just then, a video call request from James Thompson came through.
Julia Land rubbed her face, trying to appear spirited as she answered the video call.
James Thompson first assessed Julia’s complexion, then comforted her in a low voice, "Little Julia, we will definitely find our daughter."
Julia’s voice, with a hint of nasality, acknowledged with a murmur.
James Thompson prompted Julia to come closer to the camera, "Come closer, even closer."
Julia, puzzled, brought her face near the lens.
"We must find our daughter, no matter the cost."
The man’s thin lips touched the camera, as if through the lens, they kissed her forehead.
Julia’s eyelashes trembled slightly.
