Chapter 298: Burned Alive
Chapter 298: Chapter 298: Burned Alive
The next morning.
Sunlight filtered through the leaves in the backyard, dappled on the ground.
Julia Land was holding a bag of duck feed, sprinkling it lightly on the ground.
The ducklings raised their heads, puffed out their chests, and waggled their butts excitedly as they fluttered over to eat.
Carefree.
James Thompson walked into the backyard, holding Julia Land’s phone in his hand, "You’ve got a call."
Julia Land took the phone, and James Thompson took over feeding the ducklings with the duck feed she’d been holding.
Julia Land looked at the caller ID; it was Assistant Scott, "Assistant Scott, what’s the matter?"
Over the phone came Michael Scott’s urgent voice, "Boss, there’s been a fire at 45 Hutong Road, and three people have died. There are videos circulating on various platforms that suggest the fire may have been related to our products."
Julia Land’s expression turned ugly instantly. She took a deep breath and said calmly, "Send someone to find out the specifics immediately, have the PR department maintain the company image, and minimize negative impacts as much as possible."
She hung up the phone, a wave of anger surging in her heart.
She suspected this despicable act was Uncle Moore’s doing.
"What happened?" James Thompson turned to look at Julia Land, his eyes and brows steady.
"There’s been a fire at 45 Hutong Road. Three people are dead, and online there are claims that it’s related to our products," Julia Land frowned, receiving bad news first thing in the morning.
She stood up, "I’m heading to the office."
James Thompson set down the feed and brushed off his hands, escorting Julia Land out the door and into the car.
He glanced at Tyler Hughes, who had opened the car door for Julia Land, gave a nod by way of greeting, and waited for the car to drive off before turning to head back into the living room.

As soon as Julia Land stepped into Dale Group’s CEO’s office.
Michael Scott immediately reported, "Someone’s already been dispatched to find out the specifics, but online discourse is already fermenting, and many are questioning the quality of our products."
Just then, Assistant Scott took a call, and after listening, hung up with a frown, "Chairwoman, the victims’ families are causing a commotion downstairs; they’re right outside the company."
Downstairs, the victims’ families were holding a white banner.
On the banner, written in bold brush strokes, were the words, "Heartless merchants deceive consumers."
Julia Land walked to the window and saw a crowd gathered below.
"Get someone down there right away to pacify them, control the situation, and prevent it from escalating further."
Julia Land instructed calmly, "Also, contact the police to ensure order at the scene."
"Yes, Chairwoman."
Assistant Scott replied and quickly arranged for someone to handle the situation.
**
Uncle Moore smiled contentedly as he watched the Dale Group’s stocks fall all morning.
Julia Land thought she could compete with him; she was simply too green and overly ambitious for someone who might choke.
Uncle Moore sat leisurely on the sofa at home, sipping tea with great satisfaction.
Everything was going according to his plans: the stock decline, the public’s pressure.
Claire Hamilton, seeing Uncle Moore in a joyful mood, leaned against him and said softly, "Honey, I’m going out to chat with the girls."
Uncle Moore nodded, "Sure, go ahead."
As Claire Hamilton left, carrying her purse and gracefully stepping out in her high heels, she was of course aware of the incident at Dale Group from the morning news.
If it weren’t for the sudden appearance of Julia Land, her husband should have been in control of the company.
Claire Hamilton met up with her friends and went to the beauty salon, where she unexpectedly bumped into Madame Bell and Celeste Lewis.
In the beauty salon, a gentle fragrance filled the air, and the elegant atmosphere was underscored by soft music.
Claire Hamilton approached with a smile, greeting Madame Bell gracefully, "Madame Bell, what a coincidence to meet you here."
Madame Bell nodded slightly, responding politely, "You’re from Uncle Moore’s family?"
Claire Hamilton’s smile stiffened a bit but maintained composure, "Yes."
She casually mentioned, "Madame Bell, you must have heard about what happened at Dale Group."
Madame Bell’s expression changed slightly, visibly displeased at the mention of Julia Land, "Say what you want to say."
Claire Hamilton was not upset by Madame Bell’s demeanor. She gently persuaded, "Madame Bell, someone died because of a Dale Group product."
Madame Bell frowned at this, "Is that so. Celeste, let’s go."
Celeste Lewis, hearing Dale Group’s trouble, was also gleefully thinking about looking up what misfortune had befallen Julia Land when she got home.
She had always seen Julia Land as a threat.
Celeste Lewis took Madame Bell’s arm, "Aunt, let’s go."
Claire Hamilton, seeing that Madame Bell was reluctant to discuss further, didn’t press on, simply smiling and nodding, "I have said too much, Madame Bell. Take care of yourself."
She left, laughing and chatting with her friends as they went to enjoy their beauty treatments.
Madame Bell sat in the car with a cold expression.

Meanwhile.
Julia Land decided to go downstairs herself. Tyler Hughes and Michael Scott, worried, could only follow closely by her side.
She left the office, rode the elevator down, and stepped out of the company building.
The moment she exited, she felt the tense atmosphere of confrontation between the families and the security guards outside.
The families’ eyes were all fixed on her, filled with anger and sorrow.
"Everyone, please calm down." Julia Land stood in front of the families, her tone gentle, "I sincerely sympathize with your situation and understand your anger. Please believe that our company will definitively investigate this matter and provide everyone with an explanation."
An emotionally agitated family member stepped forward, demanding, "An explanation? Can my wife and daughter be brought back to life? What kind of heartless products does your company sell?"
Julia Land looked into their eyes, "The real cause of the fire is still unknown, and if there is indeed an issue with the product, I’ve already explained the reasons at yesterday’s press conference. Please wait for the results of the police investigation."
The emotions of the families remained tumultuous.
George Fields, with a quick glance, hurled the mineral water bottle in his hand at Julia Land, cursing, "My father was burnt to death by the fire!"
