Chapter 294: Will Not Marry
Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Will Not Marry
Uncle Moore and his group were waiting to see Julia Land regret her decisions, but naturally, Julia had no idea they were celebrating prematurely.
It was eight o’clock in the evening in Capital City.
Sophia Hart called Julia Land from Orly, inquiring about Julia’s health condition.
Julia tried to maintain a relaxed tone, "Sophia, everything is fine on my end, you don’t have to worry. Take good care of yourself in Orly."
Sophia Hart nodded and replied, "Don’t worry, Julia, I’ll take care of myself."
She glanced towards the kitchen and saw Andrew Benson still busy cooking breakfast.
It was evening in Capital City, but morning in Orly.
Sophia Hart lowered her voice, feeling somewhat helpless, "No matter where I go now, his people are following me. There’s no chance of running away."
Fortunately, she had a cheerful disposition and wasn’t prone to melancholy.
Julia massaged her slightly tired brow, her voice gentle, "Sophia, you’re unfamiliar with life in Orly, so don’t just run around. Once things settle down on our end, I’ll find a way to come get you."
Sophia didn’t want to worry Julia with her problems and said with a laugh, "Julia, you don’t have to worry about me. Now, wherever I go, I have people following me; I just treat them as bodyguards. And besides, he won’t abuse me."
Andrew Benson came out with the breakfast, saw Sophia on the phone, and didn’t disturb her.
Sophia talked a little while longer, then hung up the phone.
After Sophia hung up, Andrew Benson called her over for breakfast.
"Lavinia, I have to step out for a bit, but when I get back, I’ll take you to see some of the famous sights around here," Andrew Benson said with a smile, his eyes tender.
Sophia walked over and sat down, "You don’t need to accompany me. I can go sightseeing by myself."
Andrew didn’t get upset upon hearing her refusal. He waited for Sophia to finish breakfast and cleared the dishes before he went upstairs to change clothes.
When he came downstairs again, he was dressed in a suit and looking quite presentable.
Meanwhile, Sophia was still lounging on the sofa in her pajamas, looking despondent.
He walked over to Sophia, leaned over, lifted her chin and dropped a kiss on her lips.
He had kissed her enough.
He wiped her lips with the pad of his thumb and reminded her again, "When I come back later, we’ll go out together."
**
The car stopped at a café.
Andrew Benson got out of the car and entered the coffee shop.
Elise Morgan was sitting at a window-side table inside the café, the sunlight filtering through the glass and casting a pale glow on her face, now bandaged at the forehead.
Upon seeing Andrew get out of the car, she signaled a waiter and ordered a cup of coffee, knowing his taste.
Andrew entered the café, scanned the room, and then walked towards Elise.
Elise spotted him, offering a small, tired smile.
"Why did you leave the hospital when your wound isn’t healed yet?" Andrew sat down, frowning slightly.
Elise lowered her eyelids, her slender fingers gently touching the rim of her coffee cup, "It’s just a superficial wound. I wanted to say thank you for this incident."
Since she had been saved by him, she hadn’t seen him.
He had kept his distance.
Andrew replied indifferently, "There’s no need to thank me. The most important thing for you now is to recover well."
Elise sighed softly, her gaze dimming, "I had initially planned to leave Orly quietly, to start over somewhere else and not bother you guys anymore. I didn’t expect something like this would happen. I’m really sorry."
"Benjamin, back when we first arrived in Orly and struggled to build our careers, it was a hard time, but I was actually very happy."
Andrew Benson looked up at Elise Morgan, "Take care of your injury, I plan to give you another ten percent of the company’s shares."
Elise Morgan already held shares of the company. If Andrew Benson gave her more, she would become the major shareholder.
Elise’s eyes turned slightly red, he seemed intent on settling the emotional debts of their years spent struggling together.
She gave a faint smile, "I won’t take the company’s shares. We’ve been together for so many years, you should understand my personality. I love you, but I also know you might not respond to my feelings. I am willing to give, and even if the outcome isn’t what I hoped, I can still tell myself that I tried."
Her voice trembled slightly.
Andrew Benson waited for her to calm down before he said, "It’s good that you have come to terms with it."
Elise blinked her sore eyes and gave a bitter laugh, "I really don’t understand what about Sophia Hart, besides her face, makes you like her so much."
Andrew’s expression remained unchanged, but his gaze softened when Sophia Hart was mentioned.
Elise suddenly wanted to cry, all her years of effort seemed to pale in comparison to the delicate Sophia Hart.
The waiter brought over the coffee that Elise had ordered earlier.
Andrew didn’t drink any. He glanced at his watch and looked up at Elise, "You should go back to the hospital and get better. I have other matters to attend to, I must go now."
He stood up, pulled out the chair, and walked straight to the checkout area to pay before leaving.
Elise watched his retreating back, the man’s figure tall and slender. Her eyes filled with a touch of infatuation and reluctance.
She grabbed her purse and hurried out of the coffee shop, "Benjamin."
Andrew stopped and turned around to look at her.
Elise gave a light smile, "Could you give me a ride back to the hospital?"
"Of course." Andrew walked around to the other side of the car and got in.
Elise got into the car and buckled her seat belt.
The car headed towards the hospital.
Andrew looked down at his phone; he had sent a message to Sophia Hart, wondering if she would even reply.
Thinking about how Sophia always refused to agree to be with him, Andrew’s breath grew colder.
Elise turned to speak to Andrew, but seeing his cold face, she realized his mood was probably not the best, and wisely kept silent.
When the car arrived at the hospital, Elise got out, and the car drove off immediately.
She pressed her lips together tightly and waited a moment before entering the hospital.
*
Anneliese King went to the ward to visit Elise Morgan and found it completely empty. Concerned, she hurriedly called Elise.
Elise answered warmly, "Auntie Anneliese, I’m just about to readmit myself to the hospital."
Once Anneliese figured out where in the hospital Elise was, she hung up and quickly went to find her.
"You child, why were you discharged without telling anyone? Your injuries haven’t healed yet!" Anneliese was relieved to see Elise was alright, but she wore a serious and worried expression.
Elise’s recent kidnapping had nearly scared Anneliese to death.
Seeing Anneliese’s worry, Elise offered an apologetic smile, intertwining her arm with Anneliese’s, "Auntie Anneliese, I’m sorry for worrying you. I just went to say a few words to Benjamin."
Anneliese sighed internally and gently patted Elise’s hand, her tone tinged with a mix of resignation and pity, "Elise, it’s Benjamin who lacks foresight."
Elise bowed her head slightly, trying to smile, "It’s okay, you can’t force feelings."
Anneliese looked at the pale, falsely strong face of Elise and felt heartbroken.
She knew Elise’s feelings for her son ran deep.
Anneliese frowned, "Elise, don’t lose hope. Sophia Hart will definitely not marry Benjamin, Auntie Anneliese promises you."
Elise looked up with a flash of surprise.
