Chapter 287: Chapter 287: Pacifying Her

Andrew Benson quickly walked out carrying Sophia Hart in his arms.

Mr. Thompson’s bodyguard immediately blocked the way of Andrew Benson’s bodyguard.

Andrew Benson looked toward James Thompson and Julia Land, holding Sophia Hart tight, his words cold, "You think you can stop me?"

Julia Land calmly said, "If Sophia is willing to go with you, we will not stop her."

As soon as he heard the words ’willingly,’ Andrew Benson scoffed, "Don’t try to fool me. She was already willing to marry someone else. The issues between her and me cannot be clarified in just a sentence or two."

Neither side was willing to give in.

Andrew Benson lowered his head and whispered closely into Sophia Hart’s ear, "Lavinia, if you don’t go with me to Orly, I won’t go either. I will just stay here with you."

Sophia Hart’s eyelids lifted as she frowned, "Aren’t you supposed to go find Elise Morgan?"

Andrew Benson smiled faintly, "If you don’t go, I won’t go."

Sophia Hart knew that Andrew Benson was playing on her guilt.

She felt guilty for Elise Morgan due to her parents’ wrongdoing, and with Elise being in trouble this time, if she were to further delay Andrew Benson’s return to Orly to find her, Sophia estimated she would not be able to face her own conscience.

Andrew Benson also didn’t want to threaten Sophia Hart with this, but if he didn’t, there was no way he could take her away today.

Sophia Hart sighed helplessly and turned her head toward Julia Land, "Julia, I will go to Orly with him. I will contact Blake Lincoln to handle the Lincoln Family matters."

Julia Land’s eyes were full of concern, but she knew that Sophia had made up her mind, "Sophia, if you need help, contact us at any time."

Sophia Hart nodded, "Yeah, I will."

After Mr. Thompson’s bodyguard stepped aside, Andrew Benson quickly left with Sophia Hart in his arms.

Once they were in the car, it quickly drove away from the wedding venue.

In the car, Sophia Hart didn’t want to talk to Andrew Benson, but when she saw the little boy sitting beside the window, she couldn’t help but ask, "Where did you get the child from? He looks very much like a son to you."

The little boy smiled sweetly at Sophia Hart, his childish voice saying, "Mommy, my name is Claire Benson."

Sophia Hart corrected him seriously, "Call me auntie, not mommy."

Claire Benson seemed to want to cry, "Mommy doesn’t like me?"

"...." Sophia Hart quickly shook her head, "Claire is very handsome, auntie likes you."

She firmly refused to call herself ’mommy.’

Only then did Andrew Benson explain, "It’s an adopted child."

Because the child was there, hearing the word adoption, Sophia Hart didn’t ask any further.

After Sophia Hart left with Andrew Benson, James Thompson crouched in front of Julia Land, "Worried?"

Julia Land nodded slightly, "Yeah, a little, but their issues need to be resolved by themselves. We can only offer help when Sophia needs it."

James Thompson smiled with a lift of his lips, "Let’s go back to the hospital. You can be discharged next week. After you’re out, remember to take good care of yourself."

After her discharge, he estimated he would need to return to Inkwell City.

Julia Land responded, "Yeah."

The next day, Tyler Hughes brought the investigative results to the hospital to see Julia Land.

"We took a sample of the electronic products purchased from the all-brand distributor for testing, and the results show the electronics are counterfeit. The components inside the boards are also faulty; here is the test report."

He handed over a detailed test report to Julia Land.

"Additionally, Assistant Scott asked me to bring this information to you."

Julia Land took the report and information, her brows furrowing tighter and tighter as she read, "These counterfeits will not only damage the company’s reputation but also cause economic losses to our customers, even posing safety risks."

She closed the report and looked at the information, her gaze turning icy, "Any information dug up from the previous procurement team? Who exactly found the all-brand distributor?"

Tyler Hughes said, "We have not obtained any useful information yet. Also, the procurement deputy manager primarily responsible at that time is no longer in the country. I heard that he went abroad to develop a year ago, and we don’t know where he has gone."

Julia Land looked up, coldly smiling, "Quite the schemer."

She suddenly thought about Mason Moore and the others wanting to sell their stocks – could it be related to this investigation?

Of course, this was just a speculation by Julia Land at the moment.

"Continue investigating that procurement deputy manager, see where he has run off to. At the same time, get a detailed background on the all-brand distributor. Check if this company has had any contact with Uncle Moore and the others."

Tyler Hughes nodded.

Julia Land had originally planned to discuss the stock purchase with Mason Moore today, but she had decided to wait.

She shared her thoughts with James Thompson, and he agreed with her approach.

After Julia Land left, James Thompson took out a fruit knife and started peeling an apple for her.

Julia sat on the couch and watched Mr. Thompson peel the apple. "Mr. Thompson, your hair seems a bit long. Shall I help you tie it up in a tuft?"

James imagined himself with a hair tuft on top of his head, shook his head, and declined. "No need, thank you."

Julia raised an eyebrow, and said softly, "But I want to tie it."

A minute later, James sat uncomfortably on a small stool with Julia sitting behind him.

Her fingers gently entwined in his hair.

Actually, tying a tuft was quite easy and was done quickly.

Some men didn’t look good with hair tufts, but Mr. Thompson, with his angled face, still looked sharp.

Julia scrutinized it, then took several photos of James with his hair tied up with her phone.

"All done," she declared.

James, hearing what seemed like a royal reprieve, quickly put the stool away, went to wash his hands, and returned to peeling the apple.

He did not untie the tuft in his hair.

Julia looked down at the photos on her phone, stealing a smile, then opened WeChat to reply to messages from a few managers.

James handed her pieces of apple with a fork, and she ate them while swiftly discussing work with her managers.

Once she finished dealing with the messages, Julia browsed her friend circle.

She saw that Elizabeth Shaw had posted a video of her grandfather to her friend circle yesterday.

Curious, Julia clicked on the video of Elizabeth’s grandfather.

"James!" Julia bit down on her apple and quickly swallowed it; tears immediately sprang to her eyes as she turned the phone to James.

"Quick, look, is that Dale in the video?"

Seeing Julia’s agitated reaction, James immediately set down the plate of apples, took the phone, and closely watched the video of Elizabeth’s grandfather.

In the video, a man was dragging a crying little girl as they flashed quickly across the screen.

They were inadvertently captured bystanders.

The image of the little girl was deeply etched in the minds of Julia and James.

James played the video again, his heart rate picking up, his eyes flashing a mix of surprise, excitement, and more so, heartache.

"It’s Dale!" James confirmed, his voice trembling with excitement, "This figure looks exactly like our Dale."

Hearing James’s confirmation, Julia clutched James’s hand tightly; even her lips trembled, "Dale is still alive, I’ll call Elizabeth right away to ask about the filming location of the video."

She was too excited, her phone trembling in her hand.

The man in the video was dragging the girl away.

Julia wished she could pound on that man.

Elizabeth’s voice came through the WeChat call, "Director Land, hello, may I help you with something?"

"Miss Shaw, where was the video you posted on your friend circle yesterday filmed?" Julia tried to keep her voice steady, but the urgency was still noticeable.

Elizabeth was taken aback, then replied, "It was filmed in our town, Fair Field Town. I’ll check the exact location and send it to you."

Julia roughly wiped away her tears, "Miss Shaw, I owe you a favor. If you ever need help with anything, feel free to reach out to me."

Elizabeth thanked her and hung up, confused.

She rarely played in the town and texted a friend there for the specific street details, sending the information to Julia once she had it.

Julia received the address from Elizabeth and didn’t want to delay a moment longer; she wanted to go.

James held Julia’s still trembling hand with one of his, calming her down, and quickly made a phone call to arrange the plane.
