Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 275: Sabotage
Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Sabotage
For her friend, Sophie Woods summoned the courage to block James Thompson’s way.
"BOSS, I am an employee of the Pearwill Group and also a good friend of Julia’s," Sophie spoke up, seeing James’s stern expression. She steeled herself and continued, "I’d like to have a word with you."
"You know Julia?" James glanced at Sophie, puzzled.
"Yes, Julia is my good friend," Sophie affirmed with a nod.
James did not entirely believe the woman before him, "What do you want with me?"
"My name is Sophie Woods. Today, I’m speaking to you as Julia’s friend and I’d like to discuss something," Sophie admitted, her heart racing with nerves.
James glanced at the time, prompting her to speak quickly.
"Have you visited Julia in the hospital since she’s been admitted?" Sophie looked up at James, "During the time she’s been injured in the hospital, you haven’t taken care of her, but you’ve been looking after another woman instead."
Sophie felt this was unfair to her friend.
James gave Sophie a cursory look, "You’ve got the wrong person."
After saying so, he entered the hospital.
His bodyguard immediately separated Sophie from him.
"Wait!" Sophie tried to follow, but was stopped by Jasper Winters.
Jasper stayed behind to handle the matter with Sophie.
Seeing James walk away, Sophie stamped her foot in frustration, but she held back from cursing like a fishwife in public.
Jasper stood in front of Sophie, smiling gently, "Miss Woods, if you have any concerns, you can tell me. Our BOSS is quite busy."
Sophie rolled her eyes, scoffing, "Too busy seeing other women, not caring about his own woman."
A hint of a smile played on Jasper’s lips, his eyes showed a trace of coolness, "What exactly are you talking about?"
He suspected Sophie was not in her right mind.
Sophie replied indignantly, "Can’t you understand plain words?"
Jasper’s brow furrowed slightly, "Miss Woods, our BOSS has just been taking care of his woman. The ’other woman’ you’re talking about is probably a misunderstanding. What’s your friend Julia’s full name?"
He had a growing hunch.
Sophie was taken aback, hardly daring to believe it, "What are you saying? My friend is named Elizabeth Shaw, and the ring on BOSS’s hand obviously matches the one my friend has."
This was also why Sophie hadn’t believed Elizabeth’s claim that she didn’t know the BOSS.
Upon hearing the name ’Elizabeth Shaw,’ Jasper’s face showed a glint of strangeness.
What a mix-up.
He wondered if it was intentional.
Jasper smiled, "Miss Woods, take me to see Miss Shaw. Some things are better clarified in person."
Upon hearing Jasper’s words, Sophie’s face showed a hint of suspicion, but she nodded, "Alright, I’ll take you to see Julia."
The two took the elevator to the general ward.
Sophie led Jasper into the ward.
"Julia," Sophie called out.
Elizabeth looked up and saw Jasper standing next to Sophie, she paused momentarily, "Why are you here?"
Jasper said calmly and steadily, "Miss Shaw, your friend clearly misunderstands your relationship with the BOSS. Some things would be better clarified face to face."
Elizabeth turned toward Sophie, showing a bittersweet smile, "Sophie, I’m really not the boss’s wife."
Sophie finally caught on, "Really? But don’t you have a ring just like the boss’s? And our company is called Pearwill Group, and at the company’s birthday party, you and the boss..."
Elizabeth shook her head, "That ring is not mine. It was the one we found outside Glara Place when we dined there the other day."
Jasper kindly explained and cautioned, "The boss’s wife does have ’Julia’ in her name, but it doesn’t refer to Miss Shaw."
"....."
Sophie smiled awkwardly, "I’m sorry, it seems I’ve made a mistake."
Jasper nodded lightly, "Now that the misunderstanding is resolved, it’s time for me to report back to the BOSS. Let’s hope such misunderstandings do not continue."
He turned to leave the ward, but suddenly, Elizabeth called out to him, "Mr. Winters, was I transferred out of the secretarial department because of my name too?"
Jasper raised an eyebrow, he turned back and sized up Elizabeth, "Miss Shaw is quite astute. See, your friend just misunderstood your relationship with the boss, didn’t she?"
He left the ward.
Elizabeth and Sophie looked at each other.
Sophie sighed, "Julia, I’m sorry."
Elizabeth Shaw smiled helplessly. "It’s alright, you’re just concerned about me. Should I consider changing companies? There are rumors in the company about me being the boss’s wife, and after this incident, I guess the boss won’t let me stay on, right?"
The benefits at Pearwill Group were all very good, and it had not been easy for her to land the job. Elizabeth was actually somewhat reluctant to leave.
After leaving the hospital room, Jasper Winters cautiously had someone check the internal news of the company.
He hadn’t expected that there would be rumors circulating about the boss’s wife being in the company.
He immediately had Max start handling the internal rumor issue, and also had Max release a corporate announcement.
As for whether Elizabeth could continue to stay in the company, that was for the BOSS to decide.

Jasper knocked and entered the hospital room, he waited for James Thompson and Julia Land to finish discussing business matters before briefly reporting what had just occurred.
After hearing about the mix-up, Julia found it amusing and glanced at Mr. Thompson. "You’re not planning to fire Miss Shaw, are you?"
James raised an eyebrow and said coldly, "Yes."
Julia shook her head, her tone even. "Has Assistant Winters investigated Miss Shaw? If it wasn’t deliberate, there’s no need to fire her, though, of course, it’s best to check again."
Jasper nodded. "I have had people investigate Miss Shaw before. She lives a very simple life; she grew up dependent only on her grandfather. I’ll have someone look into it again."
Julia nodded.
Meanwhile, Pearwill Group also issued an internal statement.
After the announcement, the rumors within the company were quickly contained.
Turns out the boss’s wife did not hold any position in the company.
When Elizabeth learned that the company had released a statement, she breathed a sigh of relief. All that was left was to wait and see if the company would dismiss her.
Sophie Woods said with a mournful face, "I’ve offended the BOSS, and I probably can’t stay in this company anymore, right?"
The two sighed simultaneously.
To cheer up Sophie, Elizabeth whispered, "Actually, I like the type who looks cultured, like Mr. Winters."
But Elizabeth was self-aware; she knew she wasn’t good enough for someone like Mr. Winters who appeared to have such good conditions.
And the BOSS seemed too aloof.
**
James Thompson offered several age-appropriate men from their circle to Sophia Hart, for her to choose from.
It was called an arranged marriage, but it was actually more like blind dating.
Only if both parties felt it could work would they move on to marriage.
Sophia Hart looked around and ultimately chose Blake Lincoln of the Lincoln Family.
When Julia heard the news, she immediately felt a headache coming on and called her over.
"Sophia, why would you choose him? His reputation in the circle isn’t good," Julia said with a frown.
Blake Lincoln was known for loving beauties, changing girlfriends as often as clothes—such a man didn’t seem like a good choice at all.
Sophia smiled lightly, her tone relaxed. "Sis Julia, let him play. I won’t interfere. I just want the status of a daughter-in-law in the Lincoln Family."
Julia still felt it was not right. "Sophia, please choose again. After getting married, you can slowly foster a good relationship."
But Sophia remained determined to choose Blake Lincoln.
Julia had no way to persuade her further. "As long as you don’t regret it."
Still in Capital City, Andrew Benson pulled some strings and finally found out that Sophia Hart had gone to Inkwell City.
He quickly booked a flight to Inkwell City to find her.
Inkwell City Airport.
The flight from Capital City to Inkwell City had landed.
Andrew emerged from the airport and called a local friend who arranged transportation for him.
He checked into a hotel, freshened up, and then went to the hospital to wait for Sophia Hart.
Inside the hospital, the air was filled with the scent of disinfectant.
When Andrew saw Sophia emerging from the hospital room, a tender look flashed in his eyes. "Sophia."
Sophia was a bit stunned to see Andrew, but not surprised.
A complex emotion passed through her eyes as she avoided his gaze and said indifferently, "Are you looking for me?"
She couldn’t let Andrew know about her marriage alliance with Blake Lincoln now.
Otherwise, he would surely go to great lengths to interfere.
