Chapter 273: Wish for an Alliance Marriage
Chapter 273: Chapter 273: Wish for an Alliance Marriage
Sophie Woods entered the elevator and saw several people inside, so she didn’t immediately look for James Thompson.
She was curious to see where he would go in the hospital if he wasn’t visiting Elizabeth Shaw.
The few people originally in the elevator had progressively left at other floors.
Now, only Sophie Woods and James Thompson were left in the elevator.
The elevator reached the twelfth floor.
James Thompson walked out.
Sophie Woods followed him and saw him enter a hospital room.
There were bodyguards outside the room, so Sophie Woods didn’t dare to approach openly, pretending instead to look for another room.
As she passed the room the Boss had entered, a nurse just happened to come out.
She pretended to be curious and glanced inside, seeing the Boss kissing that woman.
Sophie’s heart was somewhat shocked; at the moment, she wanted to burst in and yell at the scumbag, but she ultimately controlled herself.
James Thompson saw that Julia Land had taken care of business affairs again while he was away.
He put down the bag he was carrying, pulled up a chair, and sat beside her bed, "Rest well, don’t tire yourself out."
Meanwhile, in the hallway pretending to look for a room, Sophie Woods didn’t want to arouse suspicion, so she didn’t stay long but left the twelfth floor.
As the elevator doors closed, Sophie took a deep breath, feeling somewhat angry.
If Elizabeth knew she was being cheated on, Sophie wondered if she would be heartbroken.
Thinking of her friend, Sophie wasn’t sure how to break the news to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth saw Sophie return and asked in surprise, "Sophie, why did you come back?"
Sophie pulled up a chair and sat down, her face complex, "I’ll stay with you at the hospital today."
She decided to wait until her friend’s injuries were healed before bringing up the distressing news.
Elizabeth looked puzzledly at Sophie, "Did something happen?"
Sophie shook her head, "No, you’re overthinking it."
Elizabeth, "Really?"
"I just thought you looked too pitiful alone in the hospital," Sophie explained with a cold huff.

Sophia Hart hurried into the hospital room.
Seeing Julia Land, her heart finally eased somewhat.
She had just learned two days ago about Julia’s injury in Inkwell City and rushed from Capital City to see her.
She had come straight to the hospital from the airport.
"Sister Julia."
Sophia Hart saw that Julia’s face was still a bit pale but she seemed in good spirits and breathed a sigh of relief.
Julia smiled, "Why did you come? I told you it wasn’t serious; a little rest and I’ll be fine."
Sophia sat down, catching her breath slightly, "I still wanted to see you with my own eyes."
She turned to greet James Thompson, "Brother Thompson."
James nodded his head.
Sophia’s gaze returned to Julia, "How do you feel now, Sister Julia? Does it hurt?"
Julia gently shook her head, "No, it’s not too painful, it’s much better now, the doctor said with proper rest, I’ll recover well. Did you come straight from the airport?"
Sophia nodded, "Yes."
Julia looked at James.
Understanding her intention, James called Jasper Winters to come pick Sophia up and take her home to rest.
When Jasper arrived, Sophia left with him, reassured now that she’d seen Julia was fine.
The drive to James’s residence took about an hour.
"Does Brother Thompson live here?" Sophia looked around curiously, noticing it was very tranquil.
"Yes, Boss wants peace and quiet, undisturbed," Jasper explained.
After showing Sophia to the guest room, Jasper left.
Sophia’s luggage was already in the room, and just as she was preparing to unpack and take a shower, her phone rang.
The call was from an unknown number, but Sophia answered it anyway.
"Miss Hart, it’s Benjamin’s mother," the stern voice of Anneliese King came through the phone.
"Auntie King," Sophia had a premonition, suspecting why Anneliese King was calling.
"Miss Hart, I’ll be straightforward, you and Benjamin are not suitable," Anneliese’s voice was still strict, "Benjamin needs a woman who can support him, and clearly, that isn’t you. Moreover, your Hart Family, we Benson Family can’t afford."
Holding the phone, Sophia’s heart sank slightly.
She had anticipated this day would come.
"Auntie King, I understand," Sophia’s tone was calm, maintaining politeness, "I will not continue with Benjamin."
Anneliese King, hearing this, softened her voice slightly, "Alright, since you say so, I’ll trust you for now. These years, it’s been Elise who has been accompanying Benjamin struggling out there. I don’t like my son betraying Elise."
Sophia listened silently, "I understand."
After hanging up, Sophia’s hand trembled slightly.
She sat on the bed, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her emotions.
She clutched her chest, feeling a slight pain.
Sophia opened her luggage, took out her pajamas, walked into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and let the warm water cascade over her body.
She tried to calm herself.
It turned out Elise had always been accompanying him battling it out.
Sophia knew Benjamin’s character well; he wouldn’t let go of her easily.
Turning off the water, she dressed in her pajamas, walked out of the bathroom, and picked up her phone to call James; she waited for him to answer.
She spoke calmly, "Brother Thompson, I want to find a man for a marriage alliance, someone who isn’t afraid of Benjamin."
On the other end, James heard Sophia’s words, his brows slightly furrowed, but he quickly regained his composure.
"A marriage alliance? Why? Because of Benjamin?" James’s voice was serious and low.
Sophia’s gaze was firm, "Brother Thompson, I want an alliance. I don’t want any ties with Benjamin, I know this isn’t the only way."
"Since you know it’s not the only way, why choose an alliance? I can make sure Benjamin can’t find you, you can continue living your own life," James spoke indifferently, "You need to think this through yourself."
"Brother Thompson, I’ve thought it through clearly, if he can’t find me, he’ll keep looking," Sophia, having promised Anneliese King, chose to sever that sliver of affection for Benjamin.
James didn’t agree immediately, "Think it over calmly for a few days."
He hung up first.
Julia looked at James, "What’s going on with Sophia?"
James conveyed Sophia’s intentions to Julia, "She wants a marriage alliance, she doesn’t want any ties with Benjamin."
"What?" Julia frowned, "Does she not want ties to the extent of sacrificing herself in a marriage alliance? Did something happen?"
James didn’t want Julia to worry too much, "Sophia is not a child, what we can do is respect her choice."
Everyone had their own thoughts; they could help, but couldn’t forcibly impose like tyrants.
Julia understood what James meant, her face stern, "What exactly did Benjamin do? Tomorrow when Sophia comes, I’ll ask her."
