Chapter 267: Chapter 267: Once Again

At that moment, at the main table.

Julia Land saw James Thompson and was momentarily stunned, then quickly regained her composure.

James Thompson had chosen to come tonight because he knew that once Julia Land finished her business here, she would return to Capital City.

It was uncertain when they would see each other again.

Julia Land turned her head and chatted with others, a fitting smile on her face.

Tyler Hughes sat next to Julia Land, occasionally taking care of blocking drinks for her and serving her food, showing particular attentiveness.

James Thompson briefly glanced at Tyler Hughes and then looked away.

Standing not far from the main table, Sophie Woods and Elizabeth Shaw came over, and she hurriedly shared what she had just learned.

She lowered her voice, "I finally met the real BOSS of our company. Elizabeth, do you remember the man I mentioned at the airport? It’s him."

Elizabeth Shaw smiled slightly but said nothing more.

"Where is the BOSS?" a colleague from the testing department asked.

"Right over there, by the main table." Sophie Woods had just gone to toast the suppliers and happened to overhear the conversation at the main table. She quickly glanced and saw the mysterious BOSS’s face.

Her face turned red.

The two colleagues from the testing department looked curious.

They had worked at the company for so many years but had never seen the real boss.

They all turned their heads to look in the direction of the main table.

"What is he wearing?"

"The one to the left of Max."

"Oh, it’s him."

Isn’t that the man who seemed to be intimately interacting with Elizabeth Shaw just now?

As the banquet atmosphere grew more intense, the band began to play lively music, and many people went to the dance floor to dance.

Julia Land only stayed for the first half and then excused herself to deal with work matters.

As she walked out of the banquet hall, a breeze blew, and she shivered slightly.

Seeing this, Tyler Hughes took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders, "Boss, be careful not to catch a cold."

Julia Land, "Thank you."

At that moment, James Thompson stood not far away, watching Tyler Hughes drape the jacket over Julia Land and frowned slightly.

A trace of jealousy surfaced in his heart, but it quickly subsided.

The car arrived, and James Thompson watched Julia Land get into the car and drive away before he was ready to leave the banquet.

Just as he took a step, he suddenly saw something and stopped.

Elizabeth Shaw took a ring out of her purse and scrutinized it carefully, looking at the information on her phone. A friend from the jewelry store had sent her a message that the ring was valued at around ten million.

This was a ring worth at least ten million.

Elizabeth Shaw frowned, contemplating handing the ring over to the police station immediately.

Just then, a hand reached over and swiftly took the ring from her hand.

"Where did you get this ring?" James Thompson asked coldly, his gaze fixed on Elizabeth Shaw.

Elizabeth Shaw looked up and saw James Thompson’s indifferent gaze. His eyes were so cold that she was a bit frightened and stepped back, leaning against the wall, almost holding her breath.

Her voice trembled with nervousness, "I found this ring outside Glara Restaurant in the West District; I was planning to take it to the police station."

At that moment, Sophie Woods and two colleagues from the testing department came out of the restroom and saw the company’s hidden boss cornering Elizabeth Shaw against the wall.

Sophie Woods and her colleagues exchanged glances, speculating wildly.

"What exactly is their relationship?" one colleague asked in a low voice.

"It couldn’t be that sort of relationship, could it?" another guessed.

Sophie Woods thought of another possibility and shockingly lowered her voice, "Did you all forget that our company was once renamed Pearwill Group?"

Elizabeth Shaw’s name contained the character ’Shaw.’

On the other side, James Thompson’s expression softened slightly when he heard Elizabeth Shaw’s answer.

He guessed the wedding ring probably got lost by Elizabeth Shaw when she was in the West District.

He didn’t say anything further, took the ring back, and turned to leave.

Elizabeth Shaw watched James Thompson’s retreating back, still somewhat startled by his cold gaze just now.

It was a bit frightening.

Seeing the BOSS had left, Sophie Woods and the others quickly approached Elizabeth Shaw.

Sophie Woods placed her hand on Elizabeth Shaw’s shoulder, with a hint of jest in her tone, she scoffed, "Elizabeth, you’ve really kept us in the dark."

Elizabeth Shaw looked exasperated. "What have I hidden from you all???"

Sophie Woods generously said, "Fine, boss, if you want to keep a low profile, just keep it up."

Elizabeth Shaw found Sophie’s words both funny and annoying, quickly clarifying, "You’ve misunderstood, I have nothing to do with the boss, don’t overthink it—I’m not cut out for the life of a lady of leisure."

A colleague leaned over with a mischievous tone, "But we just saw you two looking quite intimate."

Another colleague quipped teasingly, "If you won’t admit it, that’s fine. I’m leaving now, got to get home and rest."

Elizabeth Shaw, "......"

The more she explained, the less people believed her.

Sophie lifted an eyebrow, "Let’s go, we have to work tomorrow."

Elizabeth sat in the car, buckling her safety belt, and tried once again to explain, "I’m really not close with the boss."

Sophie drove, nodding, "Alright, alright, if you’re not close, you’re not."

Elizabeth Shaw, "...I’m serious."

"Uh huh, you’re serious."

"......"

There was no way to continue this topic.

Meanwhile, Julia Land’s car also arrived in front of the hotel.

Tyler Hughes got out of the car and opened the door for Julia Land who stepped out.

Assistant Hughes, thanks for tonight, go and get some rest early."

Tyler Hughes, his cheeks rosily flushed from drinking, smiled, "Boss, do you need any hangover medicine?"

"No need."

She hadn’t drunk much.

They entered the hotel lobby.

Julia Land went back to her room.

The room was lit with soft lights, she sat on the sofa and slowly exhaled.

Once she returned to Capital City, it would probably be difficult to meet Mr. Thompson again.

Julia Land stood up, reached for her pajamas, and was preparing to take a shower when someone knocked on the door.

She put down the pajamas and peered through the peephole to find James Thompson standing outside.

She opened the door.

"Come in."

Julia Land opened the door, letting James Thompson in.

James Thompson stepped inside the room, gently closing the door, the warm light casting upon his deep expression.

The two were silent for a moment, just quietly looking at each other.

James Thompson was the first to break the silence, his voice low and tender, "Little Pear."

The room fell into brief silence again.

Julia Land reached out, wrapped her arms around James Thompson’s waist, pressing her cheek against his chest, "Mr. Thompson, don’t worry, I’ve been busy with the company, living a very fulfilling life."

James Thompson looked down, raised his hand, his palm brushing Julia Land’s hair, "I’ve been doing well here in Inkwell City."

"James Thompson." Julia Land finally looked up, meeting his eyes with a smile.

James Thompson’s lips slowly curved into a smile in response.

He lifted her up and carried her into the bathroom, setting her down, he grabbed a toothbrush and squeezed toothpaste onto it.

Julia Land cooperated by baring her teeth for him to brush.

After brushing their teeth, he picked up the showerhead and adjusted the water temperature.

Julia took off her clothes, bowed her head, allowing James Thompson to help wash her hair.

Washing hair, showering, drying hair.

After all these were done, James Thompson was ready to leave, he planted a kiss on her forehead, "Get some rest soon."

Julia Land nodded, "Mmh, good night."

He took a wedding ring out of his pocket, took Julia Land’s hand, and placed it back in her palm, "Don’t lose it again, okay?"

The lost ring was back in her hands once more.

Julia Land nodded, "Okay."

She walked him to the door.

James Thompson looked back at her, "Little Pear, good night."

Who knows when they would meet again.
