Chapter 266: Chapter 266: Don’t Recognize

The next day, Tyler Hughes came knocking on the door with breakfast in hand.

The moment Julia Land opened the door, Tyler noticed her eyes filled with red veins.

"Boss, are your eyes uncomfortable?" Tyler asked with concern.

"It’s nothing," Julia replied indifferently.

Tyler handed the breakfast to Julia, planning to find something to soothe her eyes later.

While Julia ate her breakfast, Tyler went out.

After finishing breakfast and tidying up, they set off for the technology summit.

In the car, Tyler gave Julia an eye mask.

"Boss, we won’t reach the technology summit soon, wear this and rest a bit. I read the instructions; it can relieve eye fatigue."

"Thank you."

Julia also felt that showing up at the venue with her red eyes wasn’t ideal, so she put on the eye mask and rested her eyes.

They arrived at the technology summit.

Julia returned the eye mask to Tyler, its effect somewhat noticeable as her eyes weren’t too dry.

She got out of the car and ran into Isaac.

Standing next to him was the chairman of Pearwill Group, Max.

Isaac greeted Julia, "Director Land, good morning."

Julia responded with a smile, "Mr. Isaac, good morning."

"Director Land, this is the chairman of Pearwill Group," Isaac introduced. "She is the chairperson of Moore Group."

Julia extended her hand to Max and said with a smile, "Moore Group has now been renamed to Dale Group."

The three of them chatted as they walked into the venue.

The summit venue was arranged with a high-tech feel.

Various high-tech products were displayed and presented, giving the entire venue a futuristic vibe.

The summit lasted from nine in the morning until the afternoon.

After the summit ended, Max extended an invitation, "Tomorrow is our company’s anniversary celebration, are you two free to come?"

Isaac agreed to attend, and Julia, feeling it would be rude to decline, nodded.

Some companies celebrate an anniversary banquet every year that corresponds to the day they were founded.

On the way back to the hotel.

Julia and Tyler discussed the day’s summit.

Tyler said, "Boss, I think AI has potential for future development."

Julia nodded in agreement, "Indeed, it has great potential, though our company doesn’t currently engage in that type of business."

Tyler nodded, "If there’s an opportunity in the future, maybe our company could venture into that area."

Then he asked about another matter, "Boss, you need to attend Pearwill Group’s anniversary banquet tomorrow; do you need to prepare a gown?"

Julia responded, "Hmm, prepare something simple."

Tyler blushed slightly, though Julia did not notice.

He was about to go and buy a gown for the boss, initially wanting to ask about the size but then he decided it was better not to ask for the moment.

Since he was unsure about the size, he might as well buy a few different sizes as backups.

After returning to the hotel, Julia dealt with business matters while Tyler rushed off to shop.

He entered a high-end gown shop and carefully picked out several gowns.

"Do you need assistance?" a salesperson came up and asked, "This gown you’re holding is our latest style for the season, and it’s the only piece available."

"I’ll choose myself, thank you," Tyler politely told the salesperson as he selected several gowns.

Using his resourcefulness, he had the mannequins try on the gowns.

He estimated the boss’s figure to be roughly the same ratio as these mannequins.

...

After choosing the gowns, Tyler, carrying the shopping bags, returned to the hotel and knocked on Julia’s room door.

Julia Land opened the door and saw Tyler Hughes holding a few shopping bags, looking at her with a smile.

"Thank you, Assistant Hughes, for your efforts." Julia said.

Tyler walked in, set the shopping bags down, and said somewhat embarrassedly, "Director, I’m not sure about your size. You should try them on first. If they don’t fit, I’ll exchange them."

Julia picked up a dress to look. She looked at three dresses and then glanced at a light blue dress, "This light blue one is perfect."

Tyler, standing on the side, heaved a sigh of relief.

Julia still decided to try on the dress. She had a great figure, and the light blue dress made her look even more charming.

Jasper Winters knocked on the office door and pushed it open, "BOSS, Max is waiting for you in the living room."

James Thompson walked out of the office and went to the living room.

As Max saw James approaching, he put down his teacup, "There’s a birthday party tomorrow at the company. Do you want to come? It’s been so many years, you should show up at least once."

"No, has there been any progress at White Sand Bay?" James sat down and asked about what concerned him more.

"Our team is already negotiating with the government agencies," Max then brought up today’s topic from the technology summit.

"Isaac from Dale Group and Director Land are also here to attend the summit. Their companies have collaborated on a cloud project and plan to buy our servers. I’ve invited them to join tomorrow’s company birthday party as well."

Jasper looked at his boss, wondering if Julia would go, and whether the boss would attend.

Max glanced at the wedding ring on James’s left ring finger. If James hadn’t come to Inkwell City this time, he wouldn’t even know he was married. He had specifically checked the news from Capital City a couple of days ago.

"Are you really not going to attend the company birthday party?" Max asked again.

The birthday party of Pearwill Group was held at Ascend High Hotel.

All company employees would participate, and the company had also invited collaborating vendors.

The banquet hall was lavishly decorated, with dazzling crystal chandeliers.

Various delicacies and beverages were neatly arranged on long tables.

Employees of Pearwill Group had gradually arrived, all donned in evening gowns, with excited smiles on their faces.

Soon after, Julia Land and Tyler Hughes appeared together at the venue.

She reached out her hand, smiled, and shook hands with Max, softly saying, "Max, thank you for your invitation."

Max smiled, "Director Land, please come inside."

Julia and Tyler walked into the banquet hall.

Sophie Woods nudged Elizabeth Shaw’s arm, "Look at the entrance, that couple walking in, very pleasing to the eyes."

Elizabeth glanced over; the woman in a light blue dress looked stunning, and the man dressed in a neat black suit was also very attractive, "Are they employees of our company?"

Sophie shook her head, "No, they should be from a collaborating vendor. I just saw the chairman shaking hands with that woman, so it’s unlikely they are company colleagues."

Elizabeth handed her glass to Sophie, "I’m going to take a call."

She walked to a quieter corner to answer a call from home.

After hanging up, she turned, bowed her head to adjust her dress while walking, and accidentally bumped into someone.

"Sorry," Elizabeth looked up and apologized.

When she saw it was James Thompson, she was slightly startled.

The man frowned and continued walking forward.

Elizabeth awkwardly apologized again.

Jasper glanced at Elizabeth and followed James’s steps away.

Two female colleagues from the testing department, due to their angle, had witnessed Elizabeth talking closely with a man.

When he left, they approached, insinuating, "Elizabeth, who was that man just now?"

Elizabeth smiled helplessly, "I don’t know him."

One colleague chuckled, "It doesn’t look like you don’t know him. Is there some secret between you two?"

Unable to deal with them, Elizabeth quickly changed the topic, "Shall we go over there?"

The colleagues exchanged glances and smiled, "Let’s go."

The company’s birthday party was also an opportunity for employees to get to know each other.
