Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 259: Stop Her
Chapter 259: Chapter 259: Stop Her
Julia Land glanced at the message from Mr. Thompson. She hadn’t saved his new number, nor had she deleted it.
She tucked her cellphone away.
The car slowly came to a stop in front of Uncle Moore’s house.
Julia Land composed herself.
Tyler Hughes had already gotten out of the car to open the door for Julia, who calmly stepped out.
Julia entered Uncle Moore’s villa, where opulent décor filled her vision.
Guests in lavish attire laughed, drank, and danced, bringing a festive atmosphere to the gathering.
With a quick look around, Julia could tell that, in fact, not many people had been invited to this birthday party.
When Claire Hamilton, Uncle Moore’s current wife, saw Julia, a smile crept onto her face. "Miss Land, welcome."
Julia returned a faint smile, nodding politely, "Mrs. Hamilton, happy birthday."
Julia took the gift from Tyler Hughes and handed it to Claire.
Upon receiving the gift and seeing only a young-looking man by Julia’s side, Claire’s smile turned more sincere, "Thank you."
She really thought Julia wasn’t smart, probably just relying on a pretty face to seduce others.
How could such a foolish woman manage the Moore Group?
Although Claire despised Julia inwardly, her face was all smiles.
"Sister," a man with rather... ordinary looks, holding a glass of wine, approached Claire, "it’s time to cut the cake."
His gaze paused for a brief moment when he saw Julia.
Julia lifted her lids with airy indifference, her eyes sweeping over him with that sort of glacial allure.
"Sister, who is this?" Finn Hamilton posed as a gentleman.
"Miss Land." Claire was aware of her brother’s penchant for frosty demeanors.
She didn’t want to introduce Julia extensively, as if Julia were still Mrs. Moore, she could have simply introduced her directly.
Finn extended his hand, smiling at Julia, "Miss Land, hello, I am Finn Hamilton."
Julia coolly glanced at his hand, then headed straight for a couch to sit down.
Tyler Hughes smirked, revealing a cute dimple at the corner of his mouth, as he deliberately bumped into Finn’s outstretched hand.
Finn was taken aback, encountering such disregard for the first time.
Claire was also upset. What was the matter with this woman, Julia? She had no manners at all!
A few female guests covered their mouths and giggled upon witnessing the scene.
The Hamilton family pedigree was fairly average, and the attendees at the party weren’t key figures of any prominent families.
With a cold huff, Claire thought, after tonight, she was eager to see if Julia could continue to be so arrogant.
"I’m going upstairs to call your brother-in-law for the cake cutting. You behave yourself, don’t provoke her," said Claire before heading upstairs.
Finn took a swig of his drink, his gaze drifting toward Julia.
Tyler, his eyes cold behind sunglasses, swept a look over Finn, thinking he had the audacity to even consider his boss, looking like a toad.
The lights of the party were dazzling.
Several ladies occasionally glanced at Julia, who was seated on the sofa. They whispered among themselves, clearly curious.
Julia’s expression was indifferent, her hand lightly swirling her wine glass without taking a sip, unmindful of the evaluating gazes.
Claire, holding up her dress, gracefully ascended the staircase to the study.
She knocked and entered, approaching Uncle Moore to whisper, "Husband, Miss Land only brought one young man with her, and he doesn’t look like a bodyguard."
Uncle Moore chuckled with disdain, "Truly foolish, she probably doesn’t even know what’s going to happen today."
Claire nodded, the two sharing an unspoken understanding.
Mason Moore looked toward Logan Moore. "Logan, you’ve been worried she’d come fully prepared. Look, where is her preparation?"
Logan chuckled, "I was overthinking it."
Uncle Moore stood up, Claire hooking her arm in his, and the two descended the stairs together to the hall.
Uncle Moore took the stage, raising a glass with a smile to the guests, "Today, I thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to join my wife’s birthday party. Please feel at ease tonight."
Right after his words, Finn and the butler wheeled out a cake six tiers high towards the crowd.
Uncle Moore and Claire sliced the cake together as a couple, guests applauded in celebration, and the atmosphere warmed vivaciously.
After cutting the cake, Uncle Moore walked over to Julia with a smile.
"""Julia Land narrowed her eyes slightly and a silent, faint smile crossed her lips, knowing that the main event was about to begin.
Uncle Moore walked up to Julia, with a hint of a smile, "I heard you wanted to buy Mason’s shares of the Moore Group?"
Julia looked up, her gaze cold. She responded lightly, "That’s right, it’s just a pity he’s not selling."
Uncle Moore smiled and continued, "Shall we talk in the study? I’m actually interested in buying your shares as well."
Julia raised her eyebrows. She readily agreed, to Uncle Moore’s surprise.
He thought Julia would decline, not expecting her to agree so readily.
Just as he grew suspicious, Julia said, "If you can give me a good price, I might sell you my shares."
Uncle Moore chuckled.
The three of them went to the upstairs study.
Julia did not ask Tyler Hughes to leave, and Uncle Moore didn’t care—he saw Tyler Hughes as nothing more than a harmless young man.
In the study, when Mason and his people saw Julia enter, they exchanged meaningful glances. To be so foolish.
The bookshelves in the study were filled with various books, and the walls were adorned with several famous paintings. Julia raised an eyebrow, "I really didn’t expect you to have such a taste for culture."
The comment was laced with sarcasm.
Uncle Moore snorted coldly, unconcerned.
He sat down on the sofa, directly opened a document, and pushed it in front of Julia, "This is the share transfer contract, just sign here."
It was not a purchase, but a direct transfer.
Julia looked at him curiously, then smiled and chose an empty seat to sit down, "What if I don’t sign?"
Uncle Moore’s eyes carried a hint of coldness as he spoke slowly, "That’s not up to you."
Julia maintained her composure, leaning back in her chair, "And if I don’t sign, what can you do to me?"
Mason snorted coldly, "We’re being polite by asking you to sign, Julia. Don’t push your luck."
A chill flashed in Julia’s eyes as she coldly said, "Are you threatening me? You can’t easily get the shares I have."
Daniel Moore, more impulsive by nature, didn’t want to waste words with a woman, "Stop the nonsense, just scare her a little, and she’ll know fear."
Uncle Moore’s face darkened, his eyes showing a fierce determination, "Julia, do you really think you can avoid the consequences today if you don’t sign?"
Julia smiled slightly, "I’d advise you to think thrice before you act."
Just then, the door to the study was pushed open, and several bodyguards dressed in black suits walked in.
Tyler Hughes took a step closer to Julia, protecting her. He removed the cumbersome sunglasses and pocketed them.
Julia glanced at Assistant Hughes’s actions and decided to give the kid a raise.
Uncle Moore and his people didn’t take Tyler Hughes seriously, but coldly said, "Julia, this is your last chance, sign the document, or you won’t walk out of here."
Julia sighed, "People should still respect the law."
Mason couldn’t help but laugh, his tone laced with mockery, "Naive woman."
As soon as his words faded, Finn Hamilton burst through the door, his expression panicked, "Brother-in-law, it’s bad, there are police downstairs looking for you."
Uncle Moore frowned, his tone annoyed, "What’s all the panic about!"
He didn’t like his wife’s brother one bit.
Julia said with a smile, "See, how important it is to abide by the law."
She stood up to leave but was stopped by Uncle Moore’s bodyguards.
At the moment when the atmosphere became tense, Tyler Hughes suddenly made his move, kicking rapidly towards the bodyguard’s vulnerable spot.
The kick was so fast that in the blink of an eye,
the man was howling while clutching his groins.
Julia was stunned for a moment.
Tyler Hughes gave her an innocent smile, his cheeks reddening with embarrassment—he had kicked the wrong place. How could he kick there in front of his boss?
"Boss, let’s go."
Julia gave Assistant Hughes, who was blushing, an enigmatic look.
Uncle Moore shouted in a rage, "Stop her!"
However, standing at the door, Finn suddenly yelled, "The police are coming up the stairs!"
Mason and the others also panicked. Why on earth had the police come?"""
