Chapter 254: Chapter 254 Relieved

"BOSS will be flying to Inkwell City at six tonight."

Julia Land looked at the message with downcast eyes, staring at it for more than ten minutes before replying to Jasper Winters.

"Bon voyage."

Jasper Winters saw Julia’s message, his body stiffening slightly because James Thompson was sitting right beside him, staring at his phone screen.

James Thompson turned his head back, his lips tightly pressed together, his jaw tense.

After returning from the Bell Family, Julia went straight to her bedroom to sleep.

She wrapped herself in the blankets.

It was not until four-thirty that Julia woke up, changed her clothes, and hurried downstairs.

"Sister Julia, aren’t you having dinner?" Sophia Hart hurriedly asked, her eyes full of confusion.

"Mm, I have something to do," Julia responded quickly and hurried out the door.

At this time, it was the peak period in Capital City, with heavy traffic and severe congestion on the roads.

Julia gripped the steering wheel tightly, her eyebrows furrowed, and glanced at the time.

As the traffic gradually thinned, the car finally made it onto the highway, with the road conditions ahead improving.

She pressed harder on the accelerator, the engine growled lowly, and the speed of the car increased.

It was as if her heartbeat, too, raced more quickly with the speed.

The scenery outside the car window rapidly retreated, the high-rise buildings on both sides of the street flickering with lights in the night.

The lights of the airport appeared on the horizon ahead; the car quickly entered the airport, stopping in the designated parking area.

She did not get out, but instead, she rolled down the window and looked up at the sky.

She watched as a plane flew across the sky and gradually disappeared into the distance.

On the airplane, James Thompson gazed down at the buildings on the ground through the window.

His fingers gently brushed the wedding ring on his left hand’s ring finger.

Julia rolled up the car window, started the engine, and prepared to go home.

Outside the car window, the neon lights of the city illuminated her face, making it particularly clear, a faint smile on her lips.

A smile both bitter and resigned.

The flight from Capital City to Inkwell City lasted twenty hours, and the plane finally landed at Inkwell Airport.

James Thompson stepped out of the airport, ready to get into the car, when he heard someone shout "Lizzie."

James’s movements froze instantly, a surge of hope rising in his heart.

He turned his head toward the direction of the voice.

Not far away, a girl happily walked towards the people who came to meet her, pulling her suitcase.

The hope in James’s heart gradually faded; it was not his Lizzie.

He shook his head in resignation.

Then, he got into the car, closed the door, and the quiet inside contrasted sharply with the noise outside.

The driver started the car, slowly exiting the airport.

James Thompson leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes, and images of their short-lived days as a family of three flashed through his mind.

Perhaps, without him, Lizzie’s life would be smoother.

"Lizzie, that guy just now seemed to be looking at you," her friend whispered, "we could never afford that car."

Elizabeth Shaw gave her friend a look, "Don’t talk nonsense, let’s go, I’m so tired."

She hurried along with her suitcase, perhaps due to the fatigue of the journey, eager to lie down in bed and get a good night’s sleep.

**

Naomi Gold is Uncle Moore’s ex-wife.

They had two sons and a daughter; their eldest son passed away, their daughter married abroad and lived a challenging life, while their second son stayed by her side.

After their divorce, the children stayed with Naomi Gold.

Uncle Moore married another young wife and had two sons.

At that time, Naomi took the children and left with nothing.

Julia Land asked Assistant Scott to gather information on the Moore family members, and she particularly highlighted Naomi.

Naomi was currently troubled by her second son’s affairs; he had started a company that was on the verge of bankruptcy.

She went to ask her ex-husband for help, only to be met with his response, "They should fend for themselves."

Just when she didn’t know what to do, Julia Land approached her.

Julia said she would help her, but Naomi hadn’t received any news until now.

Naomi had given up hope.

Just as she was thinking of whom else she could approach for a loan, she received a message.

"Julia and James Thompson have divorced, and she has fallen out with the Bell Family."

"Julia and James divorced? And fell out with the Bell Family?" Naomi muttered to herself, utterly confused.

She didn’t understand why Assistant Scott sent her this message.

Then she received a second message, "Tell this news to your ex-husband."

Naomi hesitated.

Julia had promised her five percent of Moore Group’s shares, which was too tempting for her.

It was just passing along a couple of sentences; Naomi immediately dialed her ex-husband’s number.

"I told you, I am not helping him. If his tiny company goes bankrupt, let it be. Idiot, has no skills but still tries to start a business," Uncle Moore’s voice blared from the phone, tinged with impatience.

Naomi spoke, her voice slightly trembling, "I have important news for you."

Uncle Moore was very impatient, "What is it?"

Naomi quickly organized her words, "Today, while out having tea with some friends, I heard some news. Julia and James Thompson have divorced, and she has also fallen out with the Bell Family."

Gossip among women was common, and such information spread easily.

Uncle Moore paused, then scoffed coldly, "Where did you hear such news? How could James reveal something like this so carelessly?"

He had seen the grandeur of Julia’s wedding to James; surely they couldn’t have divorced so quickly?

Naomi knew Uncle Moore wouldn’t easily believe her, but just smiled, "Maybe it’s false news? Then forget it, consider it gossip. I’m out of money, can you—"

Upon hearing his ex-wife mention money, Uncle Moore immediately hung up.

Naomi heard the call end and snorted coldly. She replied to Assistant Scott’s message, "I did as you instructed."

After hanging up, Uncle Moore’s face showed pleasure.

If Julia had indeed divorced James and fallen out with the Bell Family, she had no one to rely on!

He immediately contacted his trusty assistant, instructing him to investigate Julia and James’s situation first.

He was even more curious about what had actually happened at the wedding that day.

Regrettably, James’s confidentiality was well-maintained.

**

Mason Moore was equally pleased.

Mason laughed as he hung up the phone; he hadn’t expected Julia to contact him, "She’s really out of her depth, Julia actually wants to meet me tomorrow?"

Logan Moore frowned, "We should still be careful, she’s backed by James and the Bell Family, not someone to be trifled with."

His words had just been spoken when Uncle Moore entered, a smirk on his face.

"Don’t worry, she’s already divorced James. It just hasn’t been announced yet. As for the Bell Family, her daughter Dale Land seems to have gotten into some trouble, which also involves Madame Bell. I guess her relations with the Bell Family aren’t too good."

Mason asked in surprise, "Is this news true?"

Uncle Moore sat on the sofa, his expression confident, "Very likely."

A glint of greed flashed in Mason’s eyes, "Then the shares she holds from the Moore Family should be returned to the Moore family."
