Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Protecting You

"We are planning to take Dale to the orchard in Nan Shui," Julia Land said with a faint smile.

Madame Bell paused for a moment upon hearing this, then smiled, "Oh, that’s nice. The air is good in the orchard, which is beneficial for children. Have fun there, and I’ll take her to the circus sometime when we’re free."

Julia Land nodded, "Okay."

Madame Bell gave a few more instructions, telling Julia Land to take good care of herself and not get too tired, then handed the phone back to Connor Bell.

Connor Bell also uneasily reminded Julia Land to take care of her health before ending the call.

Madame Bell sighed slightly gloomily, "My daughter hasn’t called me ’mom’ yet. I’ve already tried getting close to her."

Connor Bell could only comfort her, "Just wait a bit longer, it might get better after some time."

Madame Bell nodded but the worry did not leave her face. She helplessly changed the subject, "Today, Mrs. Lewis mentioned Arthur. Her daughter Celeste Lewis seems quite suitable, and that boy Arthur is all about work all day."

Connor Bell respected his nephew’s opinion, "You can mention it to Arthur; if he doesn’t like the idea, then let it be."

Madame Bell nodded, "That’s what I thought too. I’ll call Arthur."

Within their social circle, everyone knew each other, but knowing didn’t necessarily mean they had spoken to each other.

When Maxwell Bell received Madame Bell’s call and heard about Celeste Lewis, he actually had no extra thoughts, "Aunt, I don’t want to consider these things at the moment."

"Okay, you have your own plans. You work hard, son, but don’t forget to rest," Madame Bell said with a smile.

The next morning.

After getting up and having a simple breakfast, Julia Land and James Thompson started preparing for their trip to the orchard.

Andrew Benson and Sophia Hart arrived at the arranged time to join them, and they all set off together.

The orchard in Nan Shui.

The air was fresh in the orchard, and the fruit trees were laden with various kinds of ripe fruits.

There were several areas in the orchard where they could not only pick fruit but also go to a camping area for barbecues and camping.

Andrew Benson and Sophia Hart started to prepare the barbecue in the camping area, while Julia Land and the others took the little ones to pick fruit.

Dale Land was running around the orchard, his face lit up with a radiant smile.

The joy of a child.

Julia Land searched her bag for a towel to wipe Dale’s sweat, "Hmm, the towel isn’t here. Mr. Thompson, could you go get it? It’s in the suitcase."

James Thompson nodded, walked to the camping area to get the towel, and Julia Land asked Dale to stay and look at the fruit on the trees.

A few young men and women walked by, and Dale, running about, unintentionally bumped into one of them.

"Ouch! Where did this child come from?" A woman stepped back a few paces, almost falling, and after steadying herself, she glared and scolded Dale.

Dale nervously clutched the corners of his shirt with two fingers, "Sorry."

Julia Land immediately went to Dale’s side, holding her daughter’s hand and looked at the woman.

Julia Land recognized these young people, Celeste Lewis and Blake Lincoln were there, and it was Seraphina Langston from the Langston Family who had been bumped into.

Julia Land was known as the precious daughter of the Bell Family, and everyone was already aware of her status.

Julia Land looked at Seraphina Langston, "Sorry, Miss Langston, are you hurt anywhere?"

Seraphina Langston snorted coldly, although somewhat displeased, she felt it inappropriate to make a scene and waved her hand, "It’s fine, just that the child didn’t know better. Be more careful next time."

She looked down at Dale, asking curiously, "Whose child is this?"

Julia Land smiled faintly, "My daughter."

Seraphina Langston looked at Dale Land in surprise, "Huh? You and Christopher Moore have a child this old?"

Another girl next to her scrutinized Dale closely and raised an eyebrow, "Doesn’t quite look like Moore’s daughter, have you all forgotten what happened at the Thompson Family’s twins’ hundred-day celebration five years ago?"

A few people present at that time could recall the events back then, Julia Land seemed to be James Thompson’s mistress.

Thinking about the events five years ago, the way they looked at Julia was subtly shifting.

Irony of fate, the Bell Family’s daughter, once divorced and later became someone else’s mistress, eventually even managed to marry Christopher Moore and acquired shares in the Moore Family.

Such a formidable woman she is.

Their gazes towards Julia were a bit off, mixed with fear and mockery.

Yesterday’s news even reported that Julia was removed from her position as Chairwoman, yet here she is, in the mood for socializing.

Jasmine Lewis spoke up, "Let’s leave."

Julia is now part of the Bell family, and since she still planned to get married to Maxwell Bell, she spoke to smooth things over.

However, as they had not walked far, Seraphina suddenly remembered something and exclaimed half a sentence in surprise, "I still remember, at that time Chloe Sullivan said something, it was..."

She stopped midsentence in surprise.

Another girl took over quietly, "You mean, Chloe Sullivan mentioned that Julia had been kidnapped for a while? Could this child be from when she was..."

Upon hearing this, their faces subtly changed.

When Julia heard their conversation, her expression grew slightly cold.

Such gossip if directed at her was one thing, but involving her daughter was beyond Julia’s tolerance.

Julia turned around and called out to Seraphina and the others with a calm voice yet a hint of frost, "Wait a moment, all of you."

She walked over holding Dale Land’s hand, her gaze icy, "Careless gossip can harm others, my daughter does not deserve such malice. If I hear of you spreading such falsehoods again, I will take legal action."

When had these people been threatened like this?

"Can’t people even talk now?" Seraphina scoffed, "Fine, we won’t talk then."

Celeste stepped forward and tried to mediate, "Alright, let’s stop talking about this. Julia is right, we should respect others’ privacy."

Julia glanced at Celeste, then calmly looked towards Seraphina and the others, "James Thompson is my daughter’s father, have you got that?"

Their faces instantly became a spectacle.

Seraphina burst into laughter, "Miss Land, you really are amusing; the Thompson Family only acknowledges those twins, don’t they?"

Celeste initially wanted to defend Julia, but now she couldn’t be bothered.

Dale Land anxiously tugged at Julia’s clothing.

Children are very sensitive to adults’ emotions.

Julia bent down and picked the little one up, smiling, "Dale, let’s call daddy and tell him we’re being bullied."

"Okay!" Dale nodded firmly and declared, "Mommy, don’t worry, Dale will protect you."

Julia, still angry, couldn’t help but laugh at her daughter’s words, "Our Dale is indeed powerful, even more so than daddy."

Hearing that Julia was going to call James Thompson, Seraphina and the others exchanged glances.

Blake Lincoln suggested, "Let’s go."

It doesn’t really matter whose child it is to them.

Julia dialed James Thompson’s number and looked at Blake nonchalantly, "None of you leave just yet."

Seraphina felt Julia was just trying to scare them and scoffed, "What are you scared of, she’s just intimidating us. Let’s just wait and see; the Thompson Family has never acknowledged it publicly, Mr. Thompson won’t be here."
