Chapter 241: Chapter 241: A Bit Large

After her bath, Julia Land finally took a deep breath in relief.

She turned and saw James Thompson enter with a cup of milk, which he handed to her, "Drink this and get some rest early."

Julia nodded and teased, "Mr. Thompson, you are truly considerate. Anyone who marries you is so lucky... Ah."

James flicked her forehead gently with his finger.

"Ouch, that really hurts," Julia said, holding the cup in both hands and taking a gentle sip. The warm milk slid down her throat, bringing a sense of relief.

James sat beside her and stretched his hand over the back of the sofa, making it appear as if she was in his embrace, "Do you need my help with the Silicon Express shipwreck?"

His voice was low and filled with concern.

After finishing her milk, Julia set the cup on the coffee table and lazily leaned back into his arms, "No need, and by the way, I’m planning to bring Dale back to the Bell Family for dinner in a few days."

James leaned down and kissed her forehead lightly, "Good timing. That day, I’ll formally go to your family to propose."

His tone carried a mix of teasing and firmness. They had already registered their marriage but hadn’t yet held the wedding celebration.

Julia chuckled softly, looked up at him with eyes full of tenderness and playfulness, and replied, "Alright."

She paused, a bit puzzled, and asked, "Actually, I wanted to ask you something. You’ve been working from home and not going to the office; is that really okay? Or do you want to continue being a doctor?"

"You and our daughter are what matter most right now," James said lazily, "Don’t worry, there are many capable managers in the company. I just need to oversee the general direction."

His life was not long, and as long as he was alive, being with them was enough to make him fulfilled.

Julia nodded, moved.

Her hand discreetly ventured inside his robe.

"Stop it now, you’re already tired," James gently pulled the tender, boneless hand from inside his robe.

At six in the morning, Julia’s cell phone on the bedside table wouldn’t stop ringing.

James woke up, glanced at the caller ID, which showed Assistant Scott.

He frowned, picked up the phone, pressed the answer button, and held it to Julia’s ear.

Calling so early probably meant something was wrong. James softly said, "Julia, it’s Assistant Scott."

Julia rubbed her eyes, her voice still groggy, "Hello, Assistant Scott, what’s happened?"

Assistant Scott on the other end paused abruptly when he heard Julia’s languid voice.

But he quickly regained his composure and said seriously, "Chairwoman, there’s a problem. The team salvaging the shipwreck pulled several large bags of smuggled items from the sea."

Julia instantly woke up, sat up straight, and her nerves tensed, "What did you say? Smuggled items?"

"It’s true," said Assistant Scott gravely. "Preliminary investigations show that these items are illegal. We’ve already notified customs and the relevant authorities, and they are getting involved."

Julia frowned, "Immediately notify all senior managers and department heads to be at the company by eight for an emergency meeting. We need to address this right away."

Assistant Scott responded, "Okay, Chairwoman. I’ll arrange it right away."

After hanging up, Julia took a deep breath and quickly got out of bed to change.

James tied his robe and went downstairs to prepare Julia’s breakfast.

Julia hurried downstairs, intending to head straight out, but James pressed on, "Eat breakfast first; these ten minutes won’t make a difference."

Reluctantly, Julia sat down to eat.

She ate quickly, finishing her sandwich in a few minutes.

She reached her hand to hook around James’s neck and quickly gave him a kiss, "Mr. Thompson, I’m off now."

After Julia left, James called Jasper Winters, "Keep an eye on the issue with the Silicon Express shipwreck."

**

The issue with smuggled items was interconnected with many aspects, if not handled properly, it could immensely damage the company’s reputation and potentially lead to legal risks.

Julia continuously pondered over solutions.

Upon arrival at the office, she first went to her office to understand the current situation.

Soon after all senior managers and department heads had gathered in the conference room, Assistant Scott came into the office, "Chairwoman, everyone is here."

Julia nodded, picked up the documents, "Let’s go."

Inside the conference room.

"Everyone is already aware of the current situation," Julia Land began, "We need to fully cooperate with the police investigation and we must keep internal stability. We absolutely cannot let this incident affect the normal operations of the company."

"Firstly, the public relations department needs to immediately issue a statement proclaiming our active cooperation with the investigation and our firm opposition to any illegal activities. Secondly, the legal department needs to fully support customs and relevant departments by providing all necessary assistance and documents."

Heads of the public relations and legal departments nodded, indicating their understanding.

"The marketing and sales departments need to keep in close contact with our clients, soothe their emotions, and ensure the stability of orders and partnerships."

Julia paused for a moment, thinking, then said, "The finance department needs to quickly assess the impact of this incident on our financial status, prepare emergency funds, and discuss what further cooperation is needed with other departments."

Heads of the departments responded one by one.

Assistant Scott, who was keeping an eye on news trends, handed a tablet to Julia for her to see.

It showed that the team responsible for salvaging a sunken ship had retrieved several large bags of smuggled goods from the sea.

News about the Moore Group’s secret smuggling had already rapidly fermented.

The news was everywhere.

At 9:30, when the stock market opened, Moore Group’s shares plummeted.

With the news escalating too quickly, Julia couldn’t help but suspect someone was sabotaging from behind.

Julia fell into deep thought, slowly curling her lips into a cold smirk, "Public relations department, hold off on releasing the statement."

The manager of the public relations department exclaimed, "Hold off? Usually, in such situations, the company would issue a statement as quickly as possible."

Julia’s gaze was calm yet sharp, "The situation is too complicated now. Hastily releasing a statement would only make things worse. We need to clear up the truth first, then decide our next move."

Although puzzled, the public relations manager looked at Julia’s serious expression and nodded, "Understood, Chairwoman."

**

After the meeting, Julia returned to her office.

She picked up a cup of coffee, took a sip, and asked nonchalantly, "Assistant Scott, how many members of the Moore Family hold shares in Moore Group?"

Assistant Scott’s forehead twinged, sensing that Julia’s question was far from simple.

He replied cautiously, "Seven people, together they hold forty percent of the shares."

Julia nodded with a smile, "If they wanted to bring me down, it would be very easy, wouldn’t it? They hold too many shares together."

Assistant Scott answered truthfully, "Yes, Chairwoman."

Julia set down her coffee cup, her gaze carrying a trace of chill, "It seems that there are restless people inside, behind this incident."

After a moment of silence, Assistant Scott asked softly, "Chairwoman, what do you plan to do?"

Julia raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly, "Assistant Scott, I wouldn’t mind turning Moore Group into Land Corporation right now."

Assistant Scott gasped.

This plot was ambitious.

No wonder... she stopped the public relations department from releasing a statement.

**

Uncle Moore got up early in the morning in an exceptionally good mood, his mobile phone in hand, chatting eagerly.

"Don’t worry, this matter won’t affect the company, it won’t affect our interests, it’s just that Julia Land isn’t suitable to continue as chairwoman."

A middle-aged voice on the phone said, "Are you sure? This matter has caused quite a stir, and it’s attracting a lot of external attention."

Uncle Moore scoffed, "Of course I’m sure. This incident may seem to impact the company on the surface, but as long as we stand united internally and declare it her management failure, we can easily pull her down. Then, we can elect a more suitable person as chairwoman."

Most importantly, he would get his hands on Julia’s twenty percent shares.

The person on the phone finally relieved, "Alright, let’s do as you say, we’ll wait for your good news."

After hanging up the phone, Uncle Moore smiled contentedly, confident in his plan.

He thought, although Julia had some abilities, this ordeal was enough to make her lose her position as chairwoman.

And he had been waiting for such an opportunity for a long time, finally able to realize his desire to control the company.

Christopher Moore that lunatic died a good death! A splendid death!

With Christopher around, he dared not make any moves.

Now what was Julia Land, that girl, compared to him.
