Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 238 Easy to Use
Chapter 238: Chapter 238 Easy to Use
Sophia Hart scooped up some ice cream to feed Dale Land, and Dale Land scooped up some to feed Sophia Hart as well.
Each had bought a different flavor of ice cream, and they sampled each other’s choices.
Dale Land squinted his eyes, his little cheeks showing enjoyment as he licked his lips, "Aunt Julia, your strawberry flavor is so delicious, next time Dale also wants to get the strawberry flavor."
Sophia Hart smiled, scooping up another spoonful of strawberry ice cream to feed the little guy.
But Andrew Benson intercepted the spoonful.
The man smiled harmlessly, "It is quite tasty indeed."
Sophia Hart stared at him in disbelief, "Andrew Benson!"
Have some shame, will you?
Dale Land, with round eyes, accused, "Uncle Julia, that was for Dale!"
He’s so big, yet he’s still competing with her for food.
Oh, what a headache.
Andrew Benson spoke gently, "Dale is a good boy, Uncle Julia is just looking out for your best interest, eating too much ice can give you a tummy ache."
Dale Land, being the obedient baby, nodded, "Okay, Dale understands."
Sophia Hart huffed internally, put down her spoon, and stood up to get another new spoon to use.
Upon seeing this, Andrew Benson spread his hands innocently, "Lavinia, that’s not very kind of you. I was only thinking of Dale’s best interest."
Sophia Hart gave him a cold glance, "Stop calling me Lavinia."
Did he think she was a fool?
Andrew Benson was almost ready to swear, "I really just thought the little guy shouldn’t eat too much ice cream—it’s not good for him—and I didn’t mean to indirectly..."
Sophia Hart caught on to what he was about to say and quickly stuffed the spoonful of ice cream into the man’s mouth.
That shut him up.
The last two "grown-up words" Andrew Benson was about to say were blocked.
He licked the spoon, "Strawberry flavor, mmm, it’s really good."
Sophia Hart’s hair practically stood on end, shivering all over.
How could this man be more and more shameless?
Looking at her own spoon, she felt awkward about getting another one.
After eating half of her ice cream, Sophia Hart noticed Dale Land’s adorable way of eating and decided to record it to send to Julia Land.
She took out her phone, which was charging from her bag, unplugged the charging cable, and turned it on.
As soon as the phone booted up, she saw a message Julia Land had sent in the morning.
"?"
Sophia Hart replied to Julia Land with confusion, "Julia, I’m not pregnant, why would you suddenly ask that?"
How strange.
At this moment.
Julia Land and James Thompson were planning their date itinerary. Seeing Sophia Hart’s reply, Julia probably realized there was a mix-up, "Maybe the kid didn’t express herself clearly, we thought you were pregnant."
Sophia Hart gave Andrew Benson a suspicious look, and he just smiled.
"....."
Sophia Hart lowered her head and messaged Julia Land back, "Oh."
She exited the chat and recorded Dale Land’s adorable eating to send to Julia.
Dale Land munched on ice cream, squinting blissfully, making "mmm" noises from time to time, unaware that he was being filmed.
Julia Land burst into laughter after watching the video sent by Sophia Hart.
She handed the phone to James Thompson, "Look, the little guy is so happy eating."
James Thompson watched the video, smiling and shaking his head, "Have you decided where to go on your date first?"
Julia Land nodded and snapped her fingers, pleased with herself, "Decided. Let’s go bungee jumping!"
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
James Thompson was wearing a white shirt for their wedding photo shoot today, and so was Julia Land. Standing under a tree, they chose an extraordinarily peculiar date spot.
The man raised an eyebrow, "Bungee jumping? Are you sure?"
Julia Land raised an eyebrow too, smiling joyfully, "Absolutely sure!"
The bungee jumping platform was set up on a mountain outside the suburb.
From the platform, they could overlook the magnificent view of the entire valley.
The abyss below was unfathomably deep.
Julia Land stood on the edge, looking down at the scenery below, her heartbeat quickening with both nerves and excitement.
James Thompson had thought he might have a chance to comfort a frightened and teary little Julia.
It seems he thought too much.
She didn’t show any signs of fear.
Just then, Julia Land’s phone rang. She took it out and saw it was Madame Bell calling.
Julia didn’t want to answer; she pretended not to see it.
James Thompson didn’t ask further, "It’s our turn to bungee jump soon, let’s get ready."
As Julia was about to put her phone away, Madame Bell’s call came through again.
She furrowed her brows, choosing to ignore it for now.
They had secured their safety equipment and stood on the platform, whilst staff made final checks.
"Ready?"
"Ready!"
Julia looked at James; their coordination was seamless.
They jumped together, the wind howled past their ears.
Julia’s long hair fluttered in the air.
James’s gaze stayed fixed on Julia.
*
Meanwhile, at the Bell Family home.
Madame Bell had called three times without getting through, thinking Julia might be busy.
She sent a text message.
[Julia, when you see this message, call Mom back.]
It wasn’t until the next day.
Madame Bell had yet to receive any response or message from Julia, her complexion turned ugly.
Madame Bell took her phone downstairs, stood in front of Connor Bell, and took a deep breath, "What does your daughter mean by this? I called her, and she doesn’t reply at all. Does she have a big issue with me?"
Connor put down his newspaper, glanced at Madame Bell, comfortingly said, "Sophia might really be busy, there’s a lot to handle at Moore Group."
Madame Bell frowned dissatisfiedly, a hint of hurt flashing in her eyes, "But I called so many times. Not once did she call back. I really feel upset."
Connor tried to calm his wife, "Lyra, give Sophia some time; we’ve just found her, and everybody needs to adjust. She might still be sorting out her feelings."
Madame Bell grew even more displeased upon hearing this, "I know, she’s just angry with me."
Unable to solve the mother-daughter issue, Connor said, "You are Sophia’s mother. A mother must be tolerant and accommodating to her child. As time goes by, your relationship will naturally improve."
Madame Bell didn’t agree with Connor’s statement, "I’m her mother, she should learn to respect her elders and not appear so uncultured."
Hearing this, Connor’s expression turned stern, "Lyra!"
In over twenty years, Connor had never scolded her so severely.
Madame Bell said coldly, "I have things to do, I’m going out."
She had already conceded first!
Madame Bell got into her car, her thoughts turned to Chloe Sullivan.
Chloe had always been considerate, but Madame Bell’s anger flared thinking of her deceit.
Feeling upset, Madame Bell went to a piano concert.
The concert hall was bathed in soft lighting, the piano music flowed through the hall like water, calming the mind.
Yet, Madame Bell’s heart was still heavy, her dissatisfaction with Julia tainted her mood.
She couldn’t fully relax while listening to the piano.
Sitting next to her was an elegantly dressed woman in a lavish silk gown, her demeanor graceful.
The woman noticed Madame Bell’s expression and gently smiled, softly saying, "Madame, you seem to be troubled."
Madame Bell was taken aback, then nodded and offered a faint smile.
She wasn’t used to chatting with strangers.
The woman continued with genuine warmth, "Madame, you have a very favorable face, not only signifying personal wealth and a husband’s prosperity but also bringing good fortune and blessings to your family."
Madame Bell smiled, "You know how to read faces?"
The woman’s smile deepened, "I am Malay West, my ancestors were fortune-tellers, and I know a little myself but it’s merely superficial."
The woman was talkative and easygoing, leading Madame Bell to exchange a few words with her occasionally.
The woman introduced herself, "My husband’s family name is Liu, mine is Lin, and my given name is Charlotte Woods. I’ve been visiting Capital City for a month now."
Madame Bell responded with a light smile, "My husband’s family is the Bell Family."
After the piano concert.
Mrs. Liu smiled, "Madame Bell, tomorrow the Malay West Dance Troupe will perform here. If you are free, you are welcome to enjoy our Malay West culture."
Madame Bell nodded, "If I have time."
They each headed to their cars.
Mrs. Liu got into her car, smiling faintly.
Chloe Sullivan’s incompetence nearly got her caught.
Madame Bell should be easy to manipulate.
