Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 236: Rousing Again
Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Rousing Again
Chloe Sullivan’s heart was filled with panic and rage.
She wished she could brutally hammer that woman to death.
She dared not delay any longer, hurriedly packed the important items, and with trembling hands, she pulled her suitcase along.
"As long as I run overseas, James Thompson will never catch me!" she tried to console herself calmly.
Chloe opened the door of her bedroom when she suddenly heard footsteps from downstairs.
Her heart clenched tightly, and she quickly closed the bedroom door and locked it.
They’re coming, they’re coming, what to do, what to do.
Chloe scrambled to dial Maxwell Bell on her phone, but after two calls, Maxwell didn’t answer.
Despair.
Who else could help her?
Through gritted teeth, she called her stepmother, Maya Chant.
"Stepmother Maya, I’m begging you, please ask Uncle Thompson to help me," she pleaded, her voice growing more and more frantic.
"My dear Chloe, what’s happened? Don’t panic, I’ll go find Elder Thompson," Maya Chant responded with a hint of surprise, soothing her gently.
Cody Thompson was in the piano room listening to Eleanor Thompson play the piano, "Our Eleanor is very talented."
Eleanor gave a happy smile and proudly lifted her head, "Thank you, Grandpa!"
Just then, Maya Chant quietly entered the piano room, smiling at Cody Thompson and lowering her voice, "Elder Thompson, Chloe has an urgent matter and is seeking your help."
Cody Thompson’s brows slightly furrowed.
Maya continued, "She sounded very panicked, saying she urgently needs your help."
Cody put down the teacup in his hand, stood up, and left the piano room first.
Maya followed Cody out of the piano room, handing over the phone, which was still in the call, to Elder Thompson.
Cody took the phone and asked in a deep voice, "What’s happened?"
Chloe grasped the phone tightly, her eyes brimming with despair, "Uncle Thompson, James has sent people to capture me, I... I don’t know what to do. For the children’s sake, please help me. I promise I’ll never return to the country."
While speaking, Chloe seemed to hear footsteps in the hallway. She covered her mouth in terror and quickly ran into the bathroom, locking the door swiftly.
Cody Thompson hung up the phone with a frown, handed the mobile back to Maya Chant, and reentered the piano room, clearly unwilling to deal with Chloe’s problems.
When Chloe realized the call had been disconnected, her eyes filled with utter despair and fear; she stared at the phone as if her life depended on it.
Who else could save her!
Maya Chant entered the adjacent dance studio, quickly dialed Chloe’s number, and spoke in the quickest pace possible, "Chloe, listen to me. Record a video and send it to me. When Eleanor and William grow up, I’ll show it to them. You’re their mother, and don’t worry, I won’t watch it."
Right after saying this, Maya hung up the call; the corners of her mouth curved in an almost imperceptible smile, a coldness shining in her eyes.
She believed Chloe would record the video because it was the only thing she could leave for her children.
Chloe pushed her disheveled hair aside, bit her lips, and pressed the record button.
She looked at the phone screen, trying to keep her voice calm, "Eleanor, William, remember when you grow up, Mommy will always love you."
"Mommy has made many mistakes, the worst of which was falling in love with him. Mommy can’t be with you anymore, and I hope you can forgive me."
"Your father loves Julia Land. Mommy has lost, lost completely. Mommy is going to die, and when you grow up, pretend you don’t have a daddy, just be good and listen to your grandfather."
After recording the video, Chloe hit the send button, sending the video to Maya Chant, then hastily deleted the video and flushed her phone down the toilet.
She sat on the floor powerlessly, her mind blank, a manic smile on her lips.
Her daughter Eleanor had always yearned for a father since she was young, and William was a composed and clever child.
They would avenge her!
Meanwhile, Maya Chant saved the video, put away her phone, composed herself, and stepped out of the dance studio.
Just thinking about her two grandchildren, about her pitiful daughter, Maya Chant felt intense hatred for James Thompson and Julia Land.
She walked back into the piano room with a smile, "Eleanor, today’s practice was fantastic, sweetheart. Go rest now, okay?"
Eleanor beamed sweetly, "Okay."
After Eleanor and the nanny had left the piano room,
Maya finally turned to look at Cody Thompson, her expression revealing a hint of worry and a plea. "Elder Thompson, I want to accompany the children abroad. I need to take care of Eleanor and William; they are still so young. I’m not comfortable leaving them in the care of just a nanny."
Cody Thompson was taken aback for a moment, "Maya, are you serious?"
Maya nodded, sighing, "They’re like my own children; I’ve watched them grow up. Eleanor and William need someone familiar by their side when they go overseas."
After a moment of silence, Cody Thompson finally nodded, "Alright, I will make time to visit you all every month."
Maya smiled, "With me there, the two children should feel more at ease."
Cody Thompson let out a small sigh, "You will be undertaking a lot, it’s a big responsibility to entrust Eleanor’s matters to you."
Maya nodded with a smile, "Elder Thompson, rest assured, I will take good care of them. Also, there’s one more thing—I’d like to take Bella abroad too."
"Do you mean Bella Quarter?" Cody Thompson asked, puzzled. "Why suddenly take Bella abroad?"
Maya sighed, "Noah has married the Yeat family’s daughter, and he seldom has time to care for Bella. I feel so sorry for the child."
Cody Thompson had no objections, "You decide for yourself. You can ask Assistant Hunter to handle the school matters."
Maya smiled helplessly, "I’m getting older, why do I still have to worry about my grandchildren’s affairs?"
Cody Thompson gently patted her hand, his thoughts drifting to the always disobedient James Thompson.
**
James Thompson and Julia Land had just returned home when he received a call from his subordinate.
"BOSS, Chloe Sullivan’s been caught, but her phone might have gotten flushed down the toilet. We’ve traced the contacts she made after returning home—one at the Long Union Hotel, we’ve already sent someone there, and another location is at the Thompson Family ancestral home."
James Thompson raised an eyebrow, "Hmm, follow the original plan to send someone in, try to find her phone."
"Yes."
James Thompson hung up the phone and looked at Julia Land, smiling softly, "Are you free tomorrow? Remember our candlelit dinner?"
As they entered the house, Julia Land, while taking off her shoes, chuckled, "I remember, I’ll make it up to you with a candlelit dinner tomorrow."
James Thompson nodded in satisfaction.
They walked into the living room where Sophia was listening to Benjamin Taylor tell a story.
Upon seeing her parents return, she immediately ran over, "Mommy, Daddy, you’re back!"
Benjamin Taylor stood up, nodded to James Thompson, and left with a cold face, "I’m off."
Dale Land lifted her little face, unwilling to say goodbye, "Uncle Benjamin, good night."
Benjamin Taylor’s expression softened slightly, "Dale, good night."
He gently patted her head and then turned to leave.
Benjamin Taylor hadn’t gone far when he overheard Sophia’s astonishing revelation, "Daddy, Dale is going to have a little brother or sister soon."
Sophia’s voice was both happy and eager.
Julia Land, "?"
She and James Thompson had been strictly careful about taking protective measures during their intimate moments.
Benjamin Taylor stopped in his tracks, unable to help but look back.
James Thompson smiled and crouched down to look at his daughter, gently asking, "Dale, where is this little brother or sister coming from?"
Benjamin Taylor quickly strode away from the scene.
Sophia blinked, "Uncle Benjamin said that he and Aunt Chloe will have a little brother or sister soon, so that Dale has someone to play with."
Julia Land asked James Thompson in a mix of confusion and surprise, "Sophia is pregnant?"
James Thompson stood up, shaking his head innocently; he had no idea.
