Chapter 235 Just Run
Chapter 235: Chapter 235 Just Run
Only the driver knew exactly which hospital they had gone to.
Connor Bell actually had some suspicions about the driver, but he still had too much faith in human nature.
This driver had been driving for him for nearly ten years, and Connor had always treated him well.
However, the reality proved that the human heart is the most unpredictable.
Connor called his bodyguard over and whispered, "Take control of the driver, but don’t startle the snake."
The bodyguard nodded and quickly took action.
Connor walked upstairs at a leisurely pace; his foremost priority was to have a proper talk with his wife.
He pushed the door open and entered the bedroom.
Madame Bell was sitting at the vanity table, wiping her face.
Connor approached her from behind, looking at her reflection in the mirror, "Madame, may we talk?"
Madame Bell, with a cold expression, stood up and went to sit on the sofa, appearing both angry and aggrieved.
Connor followed her and sat beside her, taking her hand in an attempt to soothe her emotions.
"You all conspired to deceive me about such a major event. Did you want to see me make a fool of myself?" Madame Bell questioned, with a hint of anger and disappointment in her voice.
Connor sighed, his voice steady and gentle, "Lyra, you can’t act. If we had told you earlier, things wouldn’t have gone according to plan. Besides, I didn’t expect today’s events to happen either."
He whispered softly, "Don’t be angry anymore. Our daughter has been found; aren’t you happy?"
Madame Bell cast her eyes down, her heart filled with conflict. She was happy that her daughter had been found, but she also felt left out, and that brought an indescribable sense of grievance.
"I am happy, but I am very uncomfortable about being kept in the dark," Madame Bell said, slightly dissatisfied.
"I’m sorry," Connor apologized first, then persuaded helplessly, "Your attitude tonight could easily hurt the bond between you and your daughter."
Madame Bell’s face remained cold. Of course, she was happy her daughter had been found.
But she just couldn’t muster the enthusiasm.
Her heart was filled with conflict.
When her daughter had disappeared during the banquet years ago, her mother-in-law had scolded her for years, and even Connor was so angry at the time that he ignored her.
Their marriage had nearly ended; it was only preserved by alerting the Gunn Family.
Sometimes, Madame Bell felt aggrieved when she thought about it. It was not her fault her daughter had disappeared, yet everyone blamed her, and she had been so remorseful that she had developed depression.
Madame Bell withdrew her hand and said coldly, "I understand. I’ll apologize to Sophia another day."
Seeing Madame Bell’s softened demeanor, Connor smiled.

Dale Land sat in the back seat of the car, rubbing his eyes, his voice soft and muzzy, "Uncle, Dale is sleepy."
Andrew Benson unbuckled the seatbelt and picked up the little guy, saying warmly, "Dale, have a little sleep, we’ll be home soon."
Jasper Winters was responsible for driving today; he glanced in the rearview mirror and saw a black van following them the whole time.
He furrowed his brow, "There’s a van that’s been following us."
Upon hearing this, Andrew looked back alertly and indeed saw the van was following quite close.
His eyes sharpened and he said quietly to Jasper, "Speed up a bit and see if that van continues to follow us."
Jasper nodded and immediately increased the speed.
As expected, the black van also accelerated quickly, keeping close behind them.
Jasper’s face darkened, "Definitely trouble."
He hurriedly called to notify someone.
The fish had taken the bait.
Andrew looked down at the little guy in his arms, who had already fallen asleep, and he scoffed internally, "Well done, James Thompson. Not only did you get me to be a free nanny for the day, but you also set up a lure."
Early this morning, James Thompson had felt there might be trouble at the Bell family banquet, so he called Andrew.
He ’kindly’ suggested a plan to appease Sophia Hart.
It involved taking little Dale Land along for a fun day out.
As a result, Andrew had spent the entire day taking care of both a grown-up and a child.
Just then, several motorcycles suddenly surged out at the intersection ahead.
Jasper Winters immediately hit the brakes, and the car came to an abrupt halt.
The black van behind them quickly accelerated and blocked their escape route.
The motorcycles also stopped, but they didn’t turn off their engines; they revved them, buzzing loudly.
This buzzing was particularly evident and grating at night.
Dale Land was woken by the noise, her eyes drowsy as she opened them and rubbed her ears, "Uncle Jasper, it’s so noisy."
Andrew Benson replied with a gentle smile, "Their car broke down, and we’re waiting for them to fix it."
Dale obediently responded, "Okay."
She sat up, stretched her little neck, and tried to see which car had broken down.
Jasper Winters first confirmed that the motorcyclists didn’t seem to be taking immediate action and exchanged a glance with Andrew Benson through the rearview mirror.
"Dale, would you like to play a game?" Andrew Benson asked in an easy-going tone.
"What game?" Dale’s eyes lit up, clearly intrigued.
"Close your eyes and count numbers, up to one hundred, and Uncle Jasper will make a doll appear for you, okay?" Andrew Benson said, curving his lips.
Dale tilted her head, thought for a moment, closed her eyes, and began to count.
At that moment, two of the motorcycles ahead suddenly turned off their engines, and their riders, holding clubs, got off.
"Don’t open your eyes, okay?" Andrew Benson instructed.
"Okay!"
The motorcyclists started banging on the windows. One of the lead men, with a vicious grin on his face, slapped the glass and shouted, "Get out, or we won’t be polite!"
Dale was frightened, she opened her eyes, but a large hand covered them.
Jasper saw their own people’s car and didn’t hesitate; he immediately started the vehicle and floored the gas pedal. The car instantly surged forward.
Caught off guard, several motorcyclists were knocked to the ground, while others quickly jumped away. Jasper’s car broke through the encirclement.
They were too late to continue the chase. In the blink of an eye, they were surrounded, and faint sounds of police sirens could be heard.
Andrew Benson produced a doll for Dale, who thanked him in a soft and mushy voice, cuddling the doll.
Andrew Benson patted the little one’s hair, "Dale, would you like a little brother or sister to play with?"
"Yes!"
"Then you tell your uncle to marry her fiancé soon, okay? Then Dale will have a little brother or sister to play with."
Jasper, who was driving, "......"
This man really has some nerve.

That woman knew the plan had failed as soon as she received Chloe Sullivan’s distress call.
She had planned to kill two birds with one stone.
The plan had been for James Thompson and Julia Land to be busy dealing with the incident at the Bell Family banquet, unable to attend to anything else, least of all Dale.
The plan had been going so smoothly!
All she needed was to kidnap Dale, and she could obtain the boss’s vast fortune!
Listening to Chloe’s sharp cries over the phone, she frowned, "Fool, shut up, where are you now?"
"At home." Chloe didn’t care anymore that the woman called her a fool; she was biting her nails, pacing anxiously.
The woman’s face turned ugly in an instant as she hung up the phone; she hurried to leave immediately.
Chloe, that fool, making such a call from home!
Home was the least safe place.
Stupid to death!
Then Chloe heard the phone hang up. She incredulously kept calling, but the phone just showed no answer.
It was over, the woman had fled!
Chloe also hurried to pack her important belongings, planning to leave Capital City first, then the country.
Yes, once she left for abroad, James Thompson would never be able to catch her!
