Chapter 227: Chapter 227: strangeness

"Mr. Isaac, thank you for choosing to cooperate with the Moore Group."

Julia Land smiled and extended her hand to shake hands with Isaac.

Dressed in a finely tailored suit, Isaac responded with a smile and a firm handshake, his voice deep, "Director Land, this cooperation is a great opportunity for both parties."

The preliminary success of the Cloud Project meant many new business opportunities and potential for the development of the Moore Group.

It was more than just a collaboration; it was a new beginning.

"Mr. Isaac, we will certainly do our utmost to ensure this cooperation goes smoothly," Julia Land gestured invitingly.

"Ladies first."

The two walked out of the meeting room.

A hint of admiration flashed in Isaac’s eyes, "Director Land, I believe in your abilities, and this cooperation will be the beginning of our joint success. My team will continue to follow up on the specifics, and I hope we can work together pleasantly."

Julia Land nodded with a slightly amused smile, "A pleasant cooperation."

After seeing off Isaac, Julia Land returned to her office and finally felt a sense of relief.

With the Cloud Project cooperation settled, her mood was noticeably good.

Assistant Scott walked into the office and reported on another matter, "Chairman, about the matter of assigning several men for Maxwell Bell."

Julia Land instantly held her forehead, a helpless smile on her face.

She had almost forgotten about this act of retaliation.

Now that she knew she was a member of the Bell Family, it wouldn’t be good for her to trouble Maxwell Bell, "Call off that plan for now."

Assistant Scott nodded in confirmation, "Yes, Chairman."

"Notify the driver, I’ll be going to Pearwill Restaurant for lunch," Julia Land continued.

"Yes," Assistant Scott agreed, then turned and left the office.

**

At lunchtime.

Julia Land and Sophia Hart had arranged to meet at Pearwill Restaurant.

Sophia was wearing a fresh, fruit-green dress, looking quite playful.

When she saw Julia Land walk into the restaurant, she immediately waved with a smile.

Julia Land walked over with a smile and sat opposite Sophia, leaned back in her chair and said, "I’m so tired."

Sophia said with concern, "Julia, you’ve just been too busy; you really need to take care of yourself."

The waiter brought over the menu, and they ordered some of their favorite dishes. As the waiter was about to leave, Sophia called out to him, "Please serve the same dishes to that young man at the next table as well."

Julia Land raised an eyebrow, turning to look at the next table.

It was a young man dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans.

The young man also turned and smiled at Sophia.

Julia Land blinked; he looked like a very sunny guy.

Once the waiter had left, Julia Land asked curiously, "Who is he?"

Sophia wore a sweet smile on her face, her eyes twinkling with mischief, "Adam Steele, my new boyfriend."

Julia Land raised her eyebrows, a smile on her face, "He looks pretty good. When did you meet?"

Sophia laughed, "We met a while ago at Night Color Bar. We hit it off when we talked, and he has a good personality, so we started dating."

Julia Land did not mention Andrew Benson, and after they finished lunch, they left the restaurant.

While taking the elevator downstairs, Julia Land, standing at the back, saw Adam Steele continuously protect Sophia from being bumped by others getting into the elevator.

Julia Land’s lips curved slightly upward, smiling.

"Julia, let’s meet up again next time," Sophia waved goodbye with a smile.

Julia nodded and responded with a smile, "Okay, let’s hang out again some other time."

Sophia watched Julia’s car drive away, her smile still lingering as she suggested to Adam, "How about we go see a movie later? What do you think?"

Adam opened the car door for Sophia, his palm sheltering her head, and replied, "Sure, what movie do you want to watch?"

Sophia thought for a second, "I don’t know, we can decide when we get to the cinema."

It only took about ten minutes to drive from Pearwill Restaurant to the movie theater. After arriving, they browsed through the selections and ended up buying tickets for a freshly released romance film.

Sophia and Adam sat in the back row seats.

Around them were dim lights and the flickering images on the screen.

Adam thoughtfully prepared Sophia’s favorite popcorn and drinks, which was very considerate.

At that moment, Adam’s phone rang. Seeing that it was his mother calling, he worried there might be something important and said, "I’ll step out to take this call."

Sophia, holding the popcorn, nodded, "Mhm, go ahead."

Adam hurried away from his seat and walked out of the cinema.

Meanwhile, Sophia continued watching the movie, happily munching on the delicious popcorn.

Just then, she noticed someone approaching and turned her head to see Andrew Benson.

Sophia frowned with a hint of displeasure in her voice, "Excuse me, sir, this seat belongs to my boyfriend."

Andrew’s expression was stern, his eyes filled with a mix of helplessness and anger.

He had been irritated by Sophia for several days, "Lavinia, are you planning to ignore me forever?"

Sophia glanced coldly at Andrew and turned her attention back to the screen, grabbing some popcorn to eat, "We have nothing more to talk about. Please move, this is my boyfriend’s seat."

Andrew leaned in closer to her, "Are you really going to be with Adam? He’s only after your money."

Sophia was startled by his words, almost thinking Andrew knew about the contract she had with Adam to rent a boyfriend.

However, she quickly regained her composure, laughed dismissively, and said without mercy, "Andrew, you have quite the imagination. Adam is a good man, and he is sincere towards me. Please stop bothering us."

Since everyone else was watching the movie, Sophia didn’t dare to talk loudly and kept her voice low to avoid attracting attention.

When Adam returned from his call, he was surprised to find Andrew sitting in his seat. He approached politely and said, "Sir, this is my seat."

Andrew raised his eyelids and gave Adam a cold look, "There are empty seats in the front."

Even though they were sitting in the back, there were other people in the rear rows too.

Seeing that they were disrupting others’ movie experiences, Sophia stood up with an icy face, ready to leave.

She was done watching.

As she attempted to leave, passing in front of Andrew, he unexpectedly pulled her by the waist, making her sit on his lap.

While she was stunned, the man whispered in her ear, "Lavinia, your father and mother are visiting me."

**

On the other hand, Julia was on her way back to Moore Group in the car after having lunch with Sophia, and she received a call from James.

"Little Julia, I’ve found out information about Savannah," said James, his brows furrowed as he looked at the data he had gathered.

"Her appearance wasn’t like this before; someone arranged for her to get plastic surgery. She’s from Barrow Village, already married. Her husband has a habit of domestic violence, and this time, she ran to Capital City to find work."

Julia pondered for a moment, her eyes filled with confusion, "Something’s not right. If someone deliberately arranged for Savannah to undergo plastic surgery, there must be some plot behind it, not just for the sake of hitting our car, right?"

That was where it got strange.

James put down the documents in his hand, a chill appearing in his eyes, "You’re thinking the same as me. The person behind this is making things cryptic. I’m going to increase the bodyguard staff around you and Dale during this period."
