Chapter 224: Chapter 224: A Scheme Within a Scheme

Chloe Sullivan stared at the message with wide eyes.

She gripped her phone tightly, her mind racing with countless thoughts.

She had to confirm the authenticity of the message.

She left the restaurant and returned to her bedroom.

Chloe Sullivan bit her red lips and quickly replied with a message, "What have I hidden from the Bell Family?"

The other party quickly replied, "Of course, you’ve hidden the fact that Julia Land is the Bell Family’s heiress. What else did you think it could be?"

Chloe Sullivan’s breath nearly stopped as she stared at her phone screen, her heart in turmoil.

That person really knew!

If the Bell Family discovered Julia Land’s identity, she herself would no longer have anything that could compare to Julia Land.

Her life and status would be completely destroyed.

No, absolutely not!

Chloe Sullivan forced herself to calm down, taking a deep breath.

She knew she had to make a decision, she couldn’t let things spiral out of control.

Chloe Sullivan picked up her phone, hesitated for a moment, and then finally dialed the other person’s number.

As soon as the phone connected, she heard a woman’s smiling voice, "Miss Sullivan, it seems you’ve finally decided to accept my help."

Chloe Sullivan suppressed the fear in her heart, her voice trembling slightly, "What exactly do you want?"

The other party chuckled lightly, the tone containing an undeniable chill, "Don’t worry, my boss is a good person, a good person is kind in their dealings and surely won’t ask for any compensation from you. Just follow my lead obediently, and I assure you that you will be satisfied with the result."

Chloe Sullivan’s fingers turned white as she clenched the phone, now she was a desperate person taking a last-ditch effort, "Fine, I agree, but you must ensure that the Bell Family never finds out the truth."

The voice on the phone was filled with a meaningful confidence, "Don’t worry, Miss Sullivan. As long as you do as I say."

After hanging up, Chloe Sullivan felt a wave of exhaustion.

She leaned back in her chair, her eyes filled with confusion.

Why should she work so hard if, in the end, she gets nothing?

Her heart was filled with intense anger, and her face turned frighteningly grim.

Chloe Sullivan tried to calm her emotions; she absolutely couldn’t let Julia Land take everything from her.

She went downstairs and instructed the chef to make some pastries.

She planned to deliver the pastries to Maxwell Bell at the Bell Group in the afternoon.

Chloe Sullivan quickly composed herself and sent a message to Maxwell Bell, "Arthur, I’m bringing you some pastries this afternoon as a small way to thank you for looking after me during this time, thank you so much."

Maxwell Bell glanced at the message when he found time, replying, "You should just rest, no need to trouble yourself by bringing pastries over, have the servants bring them."

Chloe Sullivan playfully responded, "It’s only by personally delivering them that I can express my endless gratitude."

Maxwell Bell smiled helplessly, "As you wish."

**

In the afternoon.

Connor Bell, who had just returned from the hospital, sat on the office sofa.

The sunlight shone on his excited face, revealing a hint of complicated emotion in his eyes.

He clutched the paternity test report between himself and Julia Land, his eyes slightly reddened.

"Uncle, when do you plan to tell Auntie?" he choked out, struggling to contain his emotions, "I’ll talk to Lyra when I get home later, and I need to call Julia first, Arthur, your uncle is very happy today."

Maxwell Bell was happy for his uncle and the rest of them too.

He just hadn’t expected Julia Land to be his cousin. Thinking back on what he had done before, he felt a bit embarrassed.

He decided that he’d apologize to her in person later on.

Chloe Sullivan stepped into the Bell Group building, holding an exquisitely wrapped pastry box in her hands.

Because Maxwell Bell had already instructed the front desk, she was able to go directly up the elevator.

She arrived at the office door of the chairman and pushed it open.

As soon as she had pushed the door halfway, she heard Connor Bell’s cheerful voice coming from inside, "Julia, may I call you that? If you’re available, could we meet as a family tonight?"

Connor’s voice was gentle, brimming with a father’s excitement over finding his daughter.

The pastry box in Chloe’s hands almost slipped as she forcefully suppressed the shock and anger within her, steadying the box.

What was going on! That person had clearly agreed to help, so why did Connor still know Julia Land’s identity?

She almost gritted her teeth to control the raging fury within.

Chloe pushed the door open and walked in, striving to squeeze out a smile; she nodded at Maxwell and then placed the pastry box on the coffee table.

Maxwell glanced at her and nodded slightly.

Connor was still on the phone with Julia, his face blooming with an exceptionally tender smile.

Chloe, looking at Connor’s back, lowered her gaze to hide the malice in her eyes.

Meanwhile, at the Moore Group office, Julia, listening to Connor’s words on the other end of the phone, felt a whirlwind of emotions.

Having found her parents, her heart was filled with indescribable feelings.

She tried to curve her lips into a smile but found herself unable to.

Not hearing Julia’s consent to meet that evening, Connor delicately suggested, "If tonight doesn’t work, tomorrow is also fine, or whenever you’re available?"

Julia took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions, and said faintly, "No need, tonight is fine. Just send me the time and place."

Hearing this, Connor’s smile brightened even more, "Alright, Julia, I’ll send you the time and place right away."

After hanging up the phone, Connor’s face still wore a smile.

Seeing Connor’s expression, Chloe felt even more displeased, but she still managed a smile, "Godfather, is it some good news?"

Connor laughed, nodding, his voice filled with joy, "Little Chloe, we’ve found our daughter who we’ve lost for so many years. I can’t talk right now; I must go home and tell Lyra about this."

With that, he hurriedly left the office.

Witnessing Connor’s happy departure, Chloe’s heart was in turmoil.

After Connor had left, she paused for a moment, then looked up at Maxwell, smiling, "That’s really wonderful; I’m happy for godfather and godmother."

She tried to maintain her composure, "Arthur, I don’t want to disturb your work then, I hope the pastries suit your taste."

Maxwell smiled faintly, "I’m not picky, thank you for the trouble."

He walked over to Chloe, escorting her out of the office.

He pressed the elevator button for Chloe, "You still look a bit pale, remember to get plenty of rest."

"Mhm, sure."

As the elevator doors opened, Chloe walked in and turned to Maxwell with a smile, "Goodbye, Arthur."

After leaving the Bell Group, Chloe sat in her car, her fingers digging hard, ruining the upholstery.

Once she got home, she retreated to her room, took out her phone, and redialed that number.

As the call connected,

Chloe spoke in a lowered voice filled with rage, quickly shouting, "You said you would help me, but Connor already knows that Julia Land is his daughter!"

Laughter came from the other end of the phone, tinged with sarcasm and disdain, "Miss Sullivan, rest assured. Letting them acknowledge each other is just an appetizer in the plan. All you need to do is follow my orders, and there won’t be any problems. In the end, the Bell Family will despise Julia Land."

Chloe’s heart raced even faster upon hearing these sly words, yet she questioned, "Are you sure?"

"Believe it or not, it’s up to you," the other party scoffed.

At this point, Chloe had no way out; she clutched the phone tightly, inhaling deeply, "Fine, I’ll follow your arrangements."

The other person’s tone was composed, "That’s right, don’t worry. As long as you cooperate, everything will go smoothly, and Julia Land won’t be able to enter the Bell’s door."
