Chapter 223: Need Help?
Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Need Help?
She was dressed in a white house robe, her long hair casually draped over her shoulders, looking somewhat lost at the moment.
Seeing this, James Thompson reached out and gently touched her head with a tender voice, "What’s wrong?"
Julia Land lifted her head, a complex emotion flickering in her eyes.
She extended her hand, and James Thompson immediately embraced her in his arms, holding her tightly.
James Thompson slightly bent his back and leaned his face close to hers, whispering, "What happened?"
Julia Land’s eyelashes trembled slightly as she leaned in James Thompson’s embrace, a bitter smile at the corners of her mouth, "Mr. Bell wants to take my hair for a paternity test."
He was a bit surprised to hear this.
A hint of confusion and unease appeared in Julia Land’s eyes, "He said I resemble a relative from Madame Bell’s maternal family and wants to confirm if I’m their daughter."
"Actually, I’m kind of looking forward to it. No one doesn’t want to know who their parents are, I just don’t cling to these things."
James Thompson’s hand gently stroked her back, pondering for a moment, "No matter the result, you still have me, and you have Dale."
Julia Land closed her eyes to calm her nervous heart.
After a while.
Julia Land opened her eyes, looked at James Thompson firmly, "Mr. Thompson, go get scissors and a bag."
James Thompson smiled, "Okay."
After he spoke, he gently tapped her cheek with a touch as light as a dragonfly skimming water, then stood up to find the scissors.
A few minutes later, James Thompson returned, holding a pair of small scissors and a transparent zip-lock bag.
He sat back down beside Julia Land, "Shall I help you pluck your hair, or will you do it yourself?"
Julia lifted her gaze, looked at James Thompson, and slightly lifted her chin, "You do it."
With a brave face.
He smiled, his lips curling up as he straightened Julia Land’s long hair, finding a small bunch, "Shall I start?"
First pluck it, then trim it shorter with scissors.
James Thompson carefully placed the plucked hair into the zip-lock bag and sealed it.
"Mr. Thompson," Julia Land rested her chin in her hand, her voice tinged with weariness, "Help me send the hair to the Bell Group tomorrow. I don’t want to go."
James Thompson nodded, "Okay, do you want to go rest?"
Julia Land’s gaze fell on the blocks on the floor, "You haven’t finished building the house for Dale."
"After you sleep, I’ll build it," James Thompson lifted her up, "Let’s go to sleep."
Julia Land’s arms encircled his neck.
Julia Land thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight, but she nestled in James Thompson’s arms and unknowingly drifted off.
Seeing she had slowly fallen asleep, James Thompson gently kissed her forehead and quietly got out of bed and left the bedroom.
He had promised the little one that he would see the house first thing in the morning; he couldn’t break his promise.
The next morning, Julia Land dressed up and prepared to go downstairs.
Before leaving the bedroom, she specifically glanced a few times at the small bag of hair on the dressing table.
In the living room.
Dressed in a school uniform with two cute ponytails, Dale Land rubbed her eyes,
She opened her eyes and really saw the beautiful house.
Excitement filled Dale Land’s eyes as she looked up, "Daddy, you’re so amazing!"
Dads love to hear their daughters compliment them.
Although James Thompson was inwardly very happy, he maintained a casually composed demeanor, "Dale, go have breakfast first, after breakfast, Daddy will take you to kindergarten."
Julia Land went straight to the dining room downstairs.
"Mummy, good morning," Dale Land mumbled through a mouthful of bread.
"Morning, Dale." Julia Land smiled as she sat down, her eyes filled with tenderness.
After breakfast, James Thompson was to drop Dale Land off at kindergarten, then head to the Bell Group with a delivery.
Julia Land hurried off to her company.
James Thompson went upstairs to change his clothes and walked over to the dressing table to grab the zip-lock bag.
He glanced at the noticeably increased amount of hair inside the zip-lock bag.
He thought that it might be because Julia Land had secretly cut some more of her hair that morning.
His thin lips curved into a faint smile.
James Thompson, holding the zip-lock bag, came downstairs where Julia and Dale Land were waiting for him at the door.
He approached them, "Leave Dale with me, you should head to the office earlier too, try not to overexert yourself today."
While the little one wasn’t looking, he kissed Julia on the forehead.
Julia smiled, waved, and left in her car first.
**
Bell Group.
Connor Bell arrived early in the morning and was waiting at the company for Julia Land to bring the hair over.
Maxwell Bell watched Connor pacing back and forth helplessly, "Uncle, why don’t you sit down and rest, have some breakfast?"
Connor Bell sighed, "I’m not in the mood for breakfast right now."
Once again he looked at his watch. It was only 7:30 AM, and he was unsure when Julia Land would arrive.
By this time, James Thompson had already dropped Dale Land off at the kindergarten,
"Dale, be a good boy at kindergarten today, listen to your teacher. If someone bullies you, tell daddy when you come home," James Thompson gently instructed.
"Daddy, Dale will listen to the teacher," the little one puffed out her chest and promised. She picked up her backpack and said proudly, "If someone bullies Dale, Dale will bully them back!"
Christopher Moore had raised Dale Land for four years, and some of his philosophies still lingered with the little one.
If bullied, find an opportunity to bully back, very much Christopher’s style.
James Thompson didn’t criticize his daughter, as long as she wasn’t being bullied.
He watched his daughter walk into the kindergarten and then instructed the driver to head to the Bell Group.
The car arrived in front of the skyscraper.
James Thompson got out of the car and walked into the building, followed by two bodyguards.
The receptionist saw James Thompson and the two bodyguards behind him, stood up and greeted him, "Good morning, sir. Who are you looking for? Do you have an appointment?"
"I’m here to see Mr. Connor Bell."
The receptionist politely replied, "Please wait a moment."
She quickly dialed the CEO’s secretary’s extension. After briefly explaining the situation and hearing from the other side to bring him up, she hung up.
"Mr. Thompson, Mr. Connor Bell invites you upstairs, the elevator goes directly to the top floor," the receptionist said with a smile, directing James Thompson towards the elevator.
In the office waiting, when Connor Bell and Maxwell Bell saw it was James Thompson who came, they were somewhat surprised.
"Mr. Bell," James Thompson nodded slightly, and straightforwardly handed over the zip-lock bag to Connor Bell, "This is Little Julia’s hair."
Connor Bell took the zip-lock bag, looking at James Thompson with a complex expression, and nodded, "Thank you."
*
At noontime.
Chloe Sullivan, who had been discharged from the hospital and returned home yesterday.
She had just finished lunch when she heard the notification sound of a message on her phone.
She picked up her phone and saw that the message was from a cellphone number previously on a business card.
Chloe’s heartbeat suddenly quickened, her fingers trembling as she opened the message.
[Miss Sullivan, are you sure you don’t need help? The secret you are trying to hide, the Bell Family is about to find it out.]
Chloe’s face turned pale instantly, and she clutched her phone tightly, panic rising within her.
