Chapter 222: Chapter 222 Eating Sunflower Seeds

As the lights came up, neon lights from the Night Color Bar flickered in the dark.

A black sedan was hidden on the side.

Andrew Benson looked at his reflection in the car window, his slender fingers lightly touching it.

His handsome face reflected on the window glass seemed somewhat indifferent at the moment.

He looked at the time, took a deep breath, opened the door, got out of the car, and walked into the Night Color Bar.

Inside the bar.

Sophia Hart was nibbling on sunflower seeds, killing time.

She wore a simple white dress, looking fresh and sweet, which attracted many men who wanted to greet her, but the sight of the bodyguard standing behind her deterred them.

Sophia knew that Andrew Benson was following her, so she intentionally came to the Night Color Bar to splurge... on sunflower seeds.

The young man sitting next to her placed the peeled sunflower seed shells in front of her, "Sister, are these enough seeds for you? If not, I’ll continue peeling."

The young man was tall and slender, with a hint of youthful naivety in his eyes, appearing to be just over twenty.

Sophia smiled and nodded, "Keep peeling."

Adam Steele seized the opportunity to pull out his phone, battling his social anxiety, and boldly said, "Sister, can we add each other on WeChat? You can find me if you need someone to peel seeds, or just to chat when you’re bored."

His tone carried a hint of nervousness and anticipation.

Sophia’s seed-eating paused.

She saw Andrew Benson’s figure; he was standing at the bar counter looking her way.

Sophia quickly made a decision and turned to Adam Steele, "What’s your name?"

"Sister, my name is Adam Steele." Adam answered somewhat shyly.

It was his first night working at the Night Color Bar, his job was to entertain guests, and he hadn’t expected his first client would just be peeling seeds.

Sophia thought for a few seconds, leaned her head close to Adam, making them look very intimate, "Adam, do you need money?"

"What?" Adam was taken aback, he looked down at Sophia, who asked the question with no hint of contempt, just a straightforward inquiry.

He smiled helplessly, "Sister, of course I need money, otherwise I wouldn’t be here to entertain."

His voice carried a bit of self-mockery.

His mother had fallen seriously ill, and his monthly salary was not nearly enough to cover the medical bills.

Otherwise, he, a man, wouldn’t have resorted to entertaining at the bar.

Sophia took out her phone, scanned his WeChat, and added him as a friend, "I’ll hire you to be my boyfriend. Are you interested? Ten thousand a day, and if you do well when the contract ends, I’ll give you a generous bonus."

Adam was stunned.

He had never expected such a thing to happen.

Sophia tilted her head, her smile sweet, "Of course, if you don’t want to, it’s fine. But for my safety, if you agree, after I hire you, I’ll have someone check your background."

Adam hesitated for a moment; the pay of ten thousand a day was very tempting, and Sophia, sweet and good-looking, didn’t seem like a bad woman, "Okay."

His voice was firm, deciding to seize the opportunity.

Obviously, this young man was resolute.

Sophia sweetly smiled, "I’ll send you the electronic contract to sign tonight, and this matter stays only between us. I don’t want a third person to know."

Adam nodded seriously, "Don’t worry, I can keep secrets."

Not far away, Andrew Benson watched as Sophia got closer to the young man by her side, his expression displeased.

He walked over quickly, and just as he approached, he heard Sophia sweetly saying, "Adam, you’re really too cute."

Andrew Benson curled his lips into a cold smile, his voice soft but through gritted teeth, "Lavinia, what are you doing?"

Sophia looked up and saw Andrew Benson, her smile still sweet, "Mr. Benson, this is my new boyfriend, Adam."

She purposefully got closer to Adam, making them seem even more intimate.

Adam was no fool; he instantly understood the purpose behind Sophia hiring him as a boyfriend.

He nodded politely to Andrew Benson, "Hello, I’m Sophia’s boyfriend."

Andrew Benson felt a sourness in his teeth, and his cold gaze swept past Adam Steele before turning to Sophia Hart, "Sophia, come out with me, we need to talk."

Their commotion had already drawn the attention of those around.

Sophia Hart smiled as she stood up, "Adam, let’s go together."

Adam got the gist quite well and stood up following Sophia Hart.

Sophia Hart reached out and tugged at Adam’s sleeve.

Andrew Benson’s gaze rested on Sophia’s slender white fingers; his displeasure intensified, but he still suppressed his emotions and turned to lead the way outside.

The three walked out of the bar.

In the darkness of the night, Andrew Benson stopped and turned to face Sophia Hart, "Sophia, I know you are angry with me, but don’t you think it’s too childish to retaliate in this manner?"

Sophia Hart smiled slightly, her tone calm, "Mr. Benson, I’m not retaliating. I’m just living my life."

Her voice was sweet.

Andrew Benson looked at her deeply.

The two confronted each other.

Sophia Hart tugged at Adam’s sleeve and looked up at him, "Let’s go back."

Andrew Benson laughed angrily, and when he tried to pull Sophia away, he was blocked by the bodyguard beside her.

This time, Sophia had a different bodyguard, their aura obviously hinted of bloodshed.

Sophia got into the car and sent a thank-you message to James Thompson.

Julia Land saw the message from Sophia and raised her eyebrows, "Did Sophia ask you for bodyguards?"

She playfully nudged James Thompson’s shin with her foot.

James Thompson kept his composure, sitting on the floor, continuing to help Dale Land build with blocks and responded, "Hmm."

Julia didn’t know what Sophia was up to, probably something to keep Andrew Benson at bay.

Just as Julia was generously preparing to sit on the floor and help James build blocks, her phone rang.

"Who is calling me so late?"

Julia answered the call.

On the other end came Maxwell Bell’s voice, steady yet slightly excited, "Director Land, sorry for disturbing you so late, my uncle wants to talk to you now, is it convenient for you?"

Julia responded in confusion, "Sure."

Could it be another matter concerning Chloe Sullivan?

The capability of the Bell Family was commendable; Connor Bell had obtained Julia’s background information tonight, discovering that Julia and Grace Land were not biologically related, and called with a glimmer of hope.

Since it wasn’t confirmed yet, he kept it from Madame Bell.

"Director Land, hello."

"Hello."

Connor Bell organized his words and spoke slowly, "Director Land, you bear a resemblance to my wife’s great-grandmother on her maternal side."

Julia paused, vaguely guessing what he was about to say.

"Director Land, you might also be aware, my daughter went missing as a child, and for many years, our Bell family has always had people searching for her."

Connor Bell’s voice was slightly hoarse, he actually had little hope of finding her.

Julia listened without interrupting.

Her hand nervously gripped James Thompson’s hand.

James looked at Julia in surprise.

On the other end, Connor Bell gently asked with a cautious tone, "May I take a sample of your hair to do a paternity test?"
