Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Do You Like It?

"Park at the Global Plaza up ahead."

Julia Land planned to buy a men’s watch for James Thompson.

To keep a low profile, she wore a hat and a mask.

Assistant Scott got out of the car, opened the door, and the two of them entered the plaza.

There weren’t many people shopping in the plaza today.

Once inside, they headed straight for the watch counter.

As Julia was selecting a watch, she overheard the conversation of customers at the next counter, also there to buy a watch.

"A watch from the Bell Family’s collection, what do you think?" Madame Gunn asked the daughter-in-law beside her.

"Mom, your taste is naturally good, Lyra will definitely like it." Ava King said with a smile.

Sometimes she couldn’t help but sigh at how fortunate her younger sister-in-law was—treated like a princess at home, and still treated like one even after marrying into another family for over twenty years, her family’s love for her still remained.

The only misfortune for her sister-in-law was her only daughter’s disappearance.

"Please wrap up this watch," Madame Gunn, who had just arrived in Capital City from Sea Pearl City, made a special trip to the plaza to buy gifts, and she thought of her goddaughter, "Shall we also buy a gift for Lyra’s goddaughter?"

"Mom, are you talking about Miss Sullivan? We can buy the same model of this watch, what do you think?" Ava King suggested.

Madame Gunn nodded her head in agreement, "Good idea, let’s do as you say."

The clerk respectfully took the same model of the ladies’ watch out.

At the next counter, Julia raised an eyebrow, the two people sounded like they were relatives of Madame Bell.

Madame Bell’s name was Lyra Gunn.

Julia took off her mask, unscrewed a bottle of water, took a sip, then put the mask back on, and said to Assistant Scott, "Let’s go to another store."

She didn’t like the styles of men’s watches in this store.

Madame Gunn looked at Julia with some astonishment, her aged mind not as quick as it once was. By the time she remembered whom that woman reminded her of, Julia had already left.

Julia and Assistant Scott had already left the watch store by the time Madame Gunn remembered, and she hurriedly followed them out.

"Mom, wait, where are you going?" Ava King wanted to follow, but the clerk had just arrived with the watch, and since they hadn’t yet settled the bill, it wouldn’t be good for her to leave.

Madame Gunn walked out of the watch store and looked around, but she could no longer see Julia.

The young woman she had just seen bore an uncanny resemblance to Lyra’s great-grandmother when she was young; it was surprising to see someone who looked so similar.

What a rare occurrence.

Madame Gunn walked back to the watch store, a look of surprise still on her face.

Seeing Madame Gunn return, Ava King let out a sigh of relief and asked in confusion, "Mom, what’s wrong?"

Madame Gunn smiled and with a hint of surprise said, "I just saw a woman who looked very similar to your great-grandmother, it was quite unexpected."

Ava King raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Looks a lot like great-grandma? Now that you mention it, I’m curious what that woman looked like."

Ava King had never seen her great-grandmother.

Madame Gunn nodded, a glint of reminiscence in her eyes, "Your great-grandmother was a very wise woman back in the day, I never thought I’d see someone who looked so much like her now."

"Speaking of which, you haven’t seen the photos; Lyra has an album with one in it. When she married into the Bell Family, I specially made an album with photos of Lyra from childhood to adulthood, including photos of the Gunn Family elders."

Ava King said with a smile, "Then I’ll have to take a look when we get to Lyra’s place later."

While the two were talking, the clerk had finished packaging the two ladies’ watches.

Ava King swiped her card and, arm in arm with Madame Gunn, left the watch store.

The Bell Family.

Madame Bell saw Madame Gunn and others, and delightedly walked over, "Mom, Sister-in-law, how come you’re here?"

Madame Gunn smiled and said, "Came to see you."

Madame Gunn looked well-nourished and kind-eyed.

Meanwhile.

Julia found a satisfactory watch at another store and left the plaza to go home.

She had just arrived home when Dale Land saw her and ran over, stopping to hug her legs sweetly saying, "Mommy, Dale missed you so much, you’ve worked hard."

A warmth filled Julia’s heart; she bent down to pick up Dale, smiling, "Dale, Mommy isn’t tired, just seeing you filled me with energy when I get home."

Julia deliberately raised an arm, striking a strongman pose.

Dale Land covered her mouth and giggled.

James Thompson came over, lifting Dale from her arms, "You’ve come back unusually early today."

Julia smiled, "Today was Dale’s first day at kindergarten, of course, I had to come back to have dinner with you all."

James put Dale down, letting her go play, and he went upstairs with Julia.

Just as the bedroom door closed, Julia asked Mr. Thompson to close his eyes, "Mr. Thompson, cooperate with me, please close your eyes."

Shrouded in mystery.

James raised an eyebrow, obeying and closing his eyes.

"Don’t open them," Julia quickly took out the watch box from her bag, opened it, and took the watch out.

She felt for James’s wrist and carefully put the watch on him.

The watch looked perfect on James’s wrist, and Julia nodded with satisfaction, whispering, "Okay, you can open your eyes."

James opened his eyes and looked down at the watch on his wrist.

Mr. Thompson felt very happy to receive a gift.

But his expression remained restrained as he asked, "A gift for me?"

"Yes," Julia smiled with her eyes curving, her hands resting on his shoulders, "Do you like it?"

James looked down at the watch again, his lips curling slightly, and he said in a deep voice, "I love it, any gift from you I’d like."

"Even a rock?" Julia asked with a raised eyebrow.
